ichigo
ichigo is a Japanese vocalist and jewelry designer. She performed "STONE OCEAN", the first opening for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean and the tenth opening overall for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation.
She is the vocalist of the Japanese rock band Kisida Kyodan & The Akebosi Rockets, well known for performing the opening of Highschool of the Dead as well as several songs for the Touhou Project.
Biography
ichigo was born on June 1, 1982 in Fukuoka, Japan. Since she was in high school, she decided that she would be a singer or songwriter.[5] In 2007, the musician Kisida recruited some of his acquaintances to form a band after he was invited to perform in Flowering Night, a yearly Touhou live concert event. ichigo joined the band at that time, which they named Kisida Kyodan & The Akebosi Rockets. Although they initially planned to disband after the concert, the band continues to perform songs several years later.[6] Despite the band lasting for so long, ichigo has claimed that she doesn't actually get along with the other members.[5]
ichigo and her band made their major debut in 2010 by performing the opening for Highschool of the Dead. They performed the openings for other anime afterwards, including Strike the Blood, GATE, GATE II, Alderamin on the Sky, Strike the Blood II, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, and Sirius the Jaeger. On January 29, 2020, they played the ending theme for A Certain Scientific Railgun T.
On April 1, 2016, ichigo announced on Twitter that she got married to an office worker.[7]
ichigo launched her jewelry brand named Geminy on January 1, 2020.[8] After meeting someone named Tetsu who produced the in-ear monitors for ichigo's live performances, the two worked together to launch a brand of decorative ear monitors.[9]
She gave birth to her first child in early 2021.[10]
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
ichigo is a longtime fan of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. On May 5, 2010, she tweeted that when she hears about Yo-Yo Ma, the Stand from Stone Ocean first comes to mind rather than the musician.[11] On April 17, 2011, she reacted with surprise to see the announcement of JoJolion and its protagonist.[12] She also played the JoJo's Bizarre Hanafuda mobile app in 2011.[13]
On September 13, 2011, she responded to a tweet from a hair stylist hoping to see Ryosuke Miura (Ankh from Kamen Rider OOO) act as Giorno Giovanna in a live action adaptation of Vento Aureo, saying that she would like to see that happen too.[14] Her older sister drew a picture of Jolyne Cujoh resembling ichigo, which ichigo posted on November 24, 2012.[15]
On May 18, 2014, ichigo responded to an announcement of a JoJo x Converse collaboration, saying that she wants the shoes.[16] On May 7, 2016, she tweeted that she wants to sing the opening for JoJo's sixth part. She visited the Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure in September 2018.[17]
