John DeMita
John DeMita, also known as Will Barrett, is an American voice actor and actor who voices Kars in the English dub of the first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation.
He is also well known for his roles as Bang in One-Punch Man, Beerus in Dragon Ball Super, Chandler in The Seven Deadly Sins, Dosu Kinuta, Hiashi Hyuga, and Sakumo Hatake in Naruto, Barthello in Final Fantasy X, Alan Elbourne in Vampire Hunter D, and Colonel Clifford Bakely in JAG.
Biography
John J. DeMita was born in New York City on January 6, 1959. DeMita graduated from Yale University in BA Theatre Studies and English. He was among the first students to receive an MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. Since then, he has worked extensively in all aspects of the performing arts.[2] He has also worked on a lot of sci-fi projects such as Star Trek: The Next Generation.[3]
As a theatre actor, he has performed at numerous prestigious venues, including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, and more. He has won awards like the Garland Award for Best Actor in a Musical and the Dramalogue Award for Best Actor. His film and television credits are notable, including a four-season role on CBS's JAG, and over 30 guest star and recurring roles. In directing, he has significant credits with institutions like the USC Thornton School of Music and the USC School of Dramatic Arts, directing a variety of plays. He's also directed at the Andak Theatre Company and other performing arts centers, handling classics and contemporary works.
As a voice actor, he's contributed to hundreds of animated features, series, and video games, including well-known titles like Princess Mononoke, Star Trek: Discovery, Cars 3, and various anime series and video games. His voice acting career has taken him around the world to places like Japan, India, Switzerland, and France.
Aside from acting, DeMita teaches as a part-time lecturer at different schools, such as the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California,[4] and the USC School of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. He currently works in localization for Netflix as a Language Production Manager and has directed English language dubs of films and TV series in more than a dozen languages.[2]
