Biography

In 2014, sana applied for the "Anime Only!" (<アニメ限定!) audition sponsored by Smile Company Ltd. She was in junior high school at the time and found the audition while surfing the internet. She always wanted to pursue a singing career in the future, but didn't know what specific genre she would like to do. Since she listened to anime music a lot, she thought this audition would be the perfect opportunity to get involved in that field. She submitted a simple video of her singing karaoke at a restaurant and later ended up being selected as a winner. As a result, she became a member of Smile Company and practiced to improve her singing skills.

After passing her audition, she first spoke with Katsuhiro Kabuto, a vocal director and representative of "Smile day'S". She then performed songs for Sho Watanabe and other composers. In 2016, she was selected as the vocalist for the opening theme "99" of the TV anime Mob Psycho 100, making her debut as the vocalist for MOB CHOIR using the alias "37" (read as sana).[3]

In 2018, sana formed the band sajou no hana with composer Sho Watanabe and bassist Tatsuya Kitani. They are signed to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The band was named by Tatsuya Kitani, inspired by the way sana stands and her singing style. He had the image of a single flower blooming in a desolate, empty place and thought it would be a beautiful name (the band name translates to "flower on sand").[4] On August 22 of the same year, they released their debut single, "Hoshie", which was used as the first ending theme of Sirius the Jaeger.[5] After forming sajou no hana, the number of artist photo shoots and live performances sana had to do dramatically increased.[3]
