Marco d'Ambrosio
Marco d'Ambrosio is an Italian musician and composer notable for composing the soundtracks of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 1993 and 2000 OVAs along with the Phantom Blood movie. His compositions for other anime include Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Fist of the Blue Sky.
Biography
When Marco was nine years old, his father would take him to festivals in Florence, Italy, where he would watch the bands march by and play their music. As a boy, Marco fell in love with wanting to play the trumpet and after emigrating to America, he finally had a chance to learn in elementary school.
Marco's compassion for music notably started to develop when he purchased the albums, Maurice André Plays Baroque Trumpet Concertos and Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic. Soon he became captivated by the soundtracks of films, particularly the classic collaborations of Federico Fellini, Nino Rota, and scores from many other composers such as Ennio Morricone, Bernard Herrmann, and Maurice Jarre.
In 2005, Marco was awarded the "prestigious film scoring fellowship" award from Sundance Institute. In 2009, he was chosen to partake in the "BMI Conducting Workshop" in Hollywood. He enjoyed his time co-arranging and performing with the Grateful Dead band member, Bob Weir. When Marco has some free time available and is not composing music, he likes to recharge his "creative flow" by working at a ranch with his wife, Terri d'Ambrosio, his son Armando, and the family dog, Diva.[2]
