Biography
Madono moved from Osaka Prefecture to Hiroshima Prefecture when he was in the third grade of elementary school and spent his time there until graduating from Hiroshima Prefectural Kaita High School.[4] As a child, he only looked forward to watching the comedy troupe theater group Yoshimoto Shinkigeki, and he considered joining it.[5]
In elementary school, he was part of the drama club,[5] and later joined the broadcasting club in sixth grade.[6] In junior high and high school, Madono felt that he couldn't join those clubs since they only had girls, so he joined a sports club instead.[5] During high school, his girlfriend, who liked acting, suggested he had a good voice for voice acting, which led him to pursue the career.[5][6]
Understanding the challenges of making a living as an actor, Madono decided to take time to think and went to college. In his second year of college, his girlfriend broke his heart, so he resolved to become an actor.[5] He then joined a theater company. In his senior year, he attended college in the morning to write his thesis, practiced acting from noon to evening, and worked part-time at a pub at night to make ends meet. While attending college, he also went to a voice acting school. After graduating, he declared to his parents his intention to pursue acting.[7]
Madono graduated from the Voice Acting Department of Tokyo Announce Gakuin Performing Arts College and Theater Echo's affiliated training school.[8] After working with Mausu Promotion, he joined Aoni Production.[1]
His first regular role in a foreign drama was as Matthew Cooper in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and his first regular role in anime was as Aicho in Ninku.[5]
He is proficient in Kansai dialect and Hiroshima dialect.[1] He has also been the voice actor for Kwon Sang-woo in Japanese dubs, handling most of his works since Stairway to Heaven.[9]
