Junichi Suwabe
Junichi Suwabe (諏訪部 順一, Suwabe Jun'ichi) is a Japanese voice actor who voices Telence T. D'Arby in the second season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation, Stardust Crusaders, and Leone Abbacchio in the fourth season, Golden Wind.
He is also known for several other roles such as Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in Bleach, Shota Aizawa in My Hero Academia, Yami Sukehiro in Black Clover, Daiki Aomine in Kuroko's Basketball, Dandy in Space Dandy, Akira Hayama in Shokugeki no Soma, Keigo Atobe in The Prince of Tennis, Viktor Nikiforov in Yuri on Ice, Archer in Fate/stay night, and Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Biography
Junichi Suwabe was born on March 29, 1972, in Tokyo.
Suwabe came into contact with the world of arts and medias early in his life. He served as a broadcaster through elementary and junior high school, and belonged to a filmmaking circle during high school and college.[2] He originally aspired to become a film director. After graduating from college, Suwabe went through several professions. He notably became a member of the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society, a haikyo troupe, and worked as a haikyo stage performer as a member of the Haikyo Voice Actors Studio.[3]
Since his twenties, Suwabe worked as a narrator for several TV programs and commercials, and also worked as a radio DJ. His breakthrough role was his role as Keigo Atobe in the TV anime The Prince of Tennis. The character song for Keigo Atobe was for instance ranked at 9th in Oricon's weekly CD on April 11, 2005, and it was the first time a male character's song reached the top 10 of the Oricon chart.
Suwabe became recognized as a talented singer and voice actor, receiving several awards over the years. In 2012, Suwabe received the Singing award as ST ☆ RISH at the 6th Seiyu Awards.[4] In 2013 and 2018, he received the Supporting Actor award at the Seiyu Awards.[5][6] Junichi Suwabe ranked 14th out of a list of 200 popular voice actors on the 2017 TV Asahi's program "200 popular seiyus chosen seriously!".[7] On December 6, 2017, Junichi Suwabe received the Yahoo! Search Award of Personality of the Year in the Voice Actor category.[8]
