Mamoru Miyano (宮野 真守, Miyano Mamoru) is a Japanese voice actor, actor, singer, and narrator. He is credited as the actor of Dio Brando in the stage musical adaptation of Phantom Blood, as well as the narrator in promotional videos for The JOJOLands and JOJO magazine 2023 WINTER.[1][2]
Miyano was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan on June 8, 1983. He began his acting career in 1990 with his first credited role being an unnamed character on Special Rescue Exceedraft in 1992.
In 2008, he revealed that he was married, and his wife gave birth to his son months after his announcement.[3]
His breakthrough role was Light Yagami in the TV anime adaptation of Death Note in 2006, where he was nominated for the "Best Actor in leading role" and "Best Rookie Actors" categories during the 1st Seiyu Awards. He won his first "Best Voice Actor" award in the 7th Annual Tokyo Anime Award for his role as Light Yagami and as Setsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He would later win the award for "Best Actor in leading role" during the 2nd Seiyu Awards in 2008 for his role as Setsuna F. Seiei and as Hakugen Rikuson in Kōtetsu Sangokushi.[4]
I never dreamed I'd be involved with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in this way, and I can't hide my surprise and joy. Moreover, I'm truly honored to play the charismatic Dio Brando from the JoJo series. I've always loved Part 1 and revisited the original work countless times. I aim to capture Dio's overwhelming presence, his terrifying nature, and the delicate emotions that lie deep within his madness. With the unique possibilities of a musical, we'll unfold a JoJo world like no one has ever seen before. Please look forward to it!
