Kotone Furukawa
Kotone Furukawa (古川 琴音, Furukawa Kotone) is a Japanese actress credited for playing Eve in the live-action Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan TV drama.
Biography
Furukawa was born on October 25, 1996, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She began learning ballet when she was a child and loved being in front of people. As an extension of ballet, she decided to start acting and joined the drama club in both middle school and high school.[2] She went to Rikkyo University and graduated in 2018 when she was 22 from the College of Contemporary Psychology in the Department of Body Expression and Cinematic Arts.[4]
After graduating, she thought it was time to start getting a job and thought she'd like to try being an actress in the future. Furukawa auditioned to join the Humanite agency because it was where her favorite actress, Hikari Mitsushima, worked at the time. After she was accepted, Furukawa watched a lot of stage performances and films to learn how actors work.[2]
Furukawa made her debut as an actress in the same year in a promotional video for tourism in Okinawa City released in February 2018.[3] She also acted in the short films "Haru" and "Fan". Haru won the Grand Prix in the entertainment video category at the "Kyoto International Film Festival 2018 Creators Factory".[5] Furukawa also won the Best Actress award at both "Shibuya TANPEN Film Festival CLIMAX at Sasebo" and "20th TAMA NEW WAVE Competition" for her role as Ami in Haru.[6]
In 2019, Furukawa played the role of Mitsue, one of the main cast members in the film 12 Suicidal Teens. In 2020, she made her first appearance in a TV drama playing the supporting role of Hana Koyama in NHK's Yell.[6]
She often watches works that Eddie Redmayne acted in, such as The Danish Girl and Les Misérables, since she respects and admires him.[2]
In 2021, the Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy film she starred in was nominated at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival and won the Silver Bear Prize.[7]
In 2022, Furukawa was chosen to act as Eve in the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan TV drama's third season.[8]
