Interview with Yasufumi Soejima, animator and animation director at David Production. Interview was published in the Animage November 2016 issue, released on October 8, 2016.

Interview

In OP2, I suppose the beginning shot with the rotating arrows would thematically represent the characters "spinning a tale" through the flow of time. This is the basis I used when developing the visuals and it's why you see Joseph, Jotaro, and Josuke—the JoJo from each generation—all together.

Personally speaking, I would've liked to put Jonathan in there as well (laughs).

In OP3, the sun gadget represents Jonathan. I actually wanted to have Jonathan in OP2 as well, but since I was told I couldn't, I figured it'd be fine if I just made him a sun (laughs).
