Jolyne Cujoh (空条 徐倫, Kūjō Jorīn) é a protagonista da sexta parte de JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stone Ocean, e a sexta JoJo da série. Ela é a filha de uma mulher estadunidense e Jotaro Kujo, o protagonista de Stone Ocean.

Acusada de um assassinato enquanto dirigindo sob o efeito de álcool, Jolyne é mandada para a Prisão Green Dolphin Street, onde ela investiga e batalha o mais confiado discípulo de DIO, o Padre Enrico Pucci. Inicialmente uma jovem comum, Jolyne rapidamente desperta seu Stand, Stone Free, durante seu tempo na prisão.

Jolyne é uma jovem de altura acima da média e um porte magro à atlético.

Com olhos corajosos, ela tem seu cabelo em duas "camadas": Uma base escura incluindo dois coques grandes na sua cabeça e outro coque pequeno na altura do pescoço; sob qual, pintado de cor clara ou descolorido, ela possui uma trança que vai por ambos coques, juntos em um comprimento pequeno na parte de trás, e franjas que enquadram seu rosto.

Assim como todos os outros membros da família Joestar, Jolyne possui uma pequena marca de nascença em formato de estrela na parte de trás de seu ombro esquerdo perto de seu pescoço, Ela também tem a imagem de asas de borboleta tatuadas em seu antebraço esquerdo, com uma adaga no meio, que também aparece no peito de suas roupas.

A aparência de Jolyne na Parte 6 muda de porte magro e suave para um mais dinâmico e atlético. Simultaneamnte, suas roupas primariamente escuras mudam bastante, caracterizadas por uma estampa de teia de aranha.

  • Roupa 1: Uma saia curta, botas na altura da canela, um top de alça que expõe sua barriga, com duas alças ligadas a sua saia, como suspensórios. Ela veste uma peça pequena no seu peito, com o design de sua tatuagem.
  • Roupa 2: Parecido com a primeira roupa, exceto que essa possui calças e botas ligadas a jaqueta da prisão. A jaqueta é pequena, cobrindo a parte inferior de suas costas até a parte dos quadris. Vestida durante sua primeira semana na prisão.
  • Roupa 3: Roupa 2 com uma jaqueta mais longa e um pouco mais escura (da altura do sobretudo de Jotaro). Após os eventos de Whitesnake - O Perseguidor, ela passa a usar um piercing de estrela em seu umbigo.
  • Roupa 4: Após escapar da prisão, ela veste uma regata que parece seu top antigo. Em seu peito, ela agora tem uma peça grande em formato de coração com a imagem de sua tatuagem por cima. Ela veste dois cintos pequenos sob a área das costelas (um cinto no final). Um armuleto de tecido adorna um antebraço, e ela retem seu piercing no umbigo. Ela possui um cinto difente em sua cintura com uma capa longa presa às costas.

Jolyne, Fly High with GUCCI

No one-shot, Jolyne faz uma aparição com muitas roupas diferentes. Sua roupa principal é um caban com uma estampa elaborada de flores com um cachecol combinando. Por baixo do casaco, Jolyne veste um vestido que também muda aleatóriamente, a primeira versão sendo preta com a mesma estampa de flores, a segunda sendo um vestido branco.

Jolyne também veste, em ordem: um terno de três peças rosa com sandálias plataforma com espinhos e um colar, um vestido amarelo simples com decorações de flores e frutas na área dos ombros, e um vestido marrom com um cinto de couro combinando.

No one-shot, o cabelo de Jolyne é consistentemente retratado como verde com mechas loiras de cabelo.

Personalidade

Apesar de seu relacionamento difícil, Jotaro e Jolyne estimavam um ao outro

Volúvel, abrupta, e impertinente com seus mais velhos, Jolyne em adolescência seria sem dúvidas considerada uma delinquente e uma causa perdida. Amargurada com Jotaro por não estar presente na maioria de sua vida, ela tentou múltiplas vezes ter a atenção de seu pai ao cometer vários crimes pequenos e foi a cadeia várias vezes por eles. Por causa da ausência de seu pai, Jolyne foi dita se tornar dependente do afeto e aprovação daqueles em sua volta,[1] e estava disposta a cobrir pelo acidente de Romeo, resultando em sua sentença de 15 anos na prisão por ele.[2]

Após adquirir um Stand e conhecer o amor de Jotaro por ela, Jolyne notavelmente amadurece, se tornando mais corajosa e confiante. "Reviver" Jotaro, que entrou em um coma devido ao roubo de sua memória e Stand por Whitesnake, se torna sua prioridade.[3]

A Determinação Escura de Jolyne

Jolyne mantem sua atitude confrontacional pelo resto da história. Uma antiga delinquente vivendo em uma prisão de segurança máxima, Jolyne teve que se tornar mais grosseira e ser especialmente rude. Ela frequentemente provoca seus inimigos. Ela também agressivamente afirma sua presença, especialmente na prisão, e uma vez disse que F.F. deveria violentamente confrontar uma detenta que furou a fila do lanche.[4] Jolyne é particularmente violenta em suas batalhas; ela usou a habilidade cutânea de seus fios para horrivelmente ferir seus oponentes, cortando orelhas e unhas,[5] por exemplo. Jolyne normalmente não busca matar e já disse que desejava que Ermes não se tornasse uma assassina.[6] Entretanto, ela prontamente usa força letal contra seu arqui-inimigo Enrico Pucci, e ele foi o único inimigo que ela explicitamente disse que mataria.[7]

Jolyne também tem um lado vingativo e paga em dobro qualquer erro feito contra ela, notavelmente cortando a língua de Romeo por traí-la,[8] e fez com que seu advogado corrupto se acidentasse em seu carro.[9] Ademais, Jolyne guarda um pouco de rancor pela Gwess, sua primeira inimiga, e não quer nada haver com ela apesar do esforço dela para se comportar na frente de Jolyne. De forma engraçada, Jolyne manteve rancor por jacarés em geral após Limp Bizkit ter revivido um que a atacou, e ela se divertiu jogando algo na cabeça de outro jacaré como vingança.[10]

Jolyne possui uma determinação feroz, que a move em várias batalhas e inspira seus companheiros. Após descobrir o plano de DIO, Jolyne se orgulhou de sua linhagem e optou por continuar os esforços de Jotaro de acabar com a ameaça que DIO deixou para trás. Jolyne estoicamente aguenta as dificuldades que ela encara e continua com seu objetivo, não levando em conta o sofrimento e possíveis riscos. Por exemplo, quando ela foi levada a ala de segurança máxima, Jolyne só ficou momentanêamente perturbada com as condições horríveis da cela (a bandeja de comida estava coberta de insetos) assim como o assédio de outros detentos na ala e rapidamente passou por tudo aquilo.[11] Sua determinação é tão grande que ela foi capaz de perder um braço ou até sua própria vida para derrotar seu inimigo e salvar seus companheiros, uma inclinação especialmente prevalente nela que culminou em seu sacríficio para tirar Emporio de perto de Pucci.[12] Um bom exemplo de sua determinação normal é quando ela ateou fogo à si mesma para ganhar tempo para atacar Rikiel, ignorando o risco feito a ela já que seu corpo era feito de fios.[13] Ainda sim, Jolyne já expressou suas dúvidas sobre sua vontade de parar Pucci após a morte de Weather Report e a segunda fuga do padre.[10]

Comum em sua família, Jolyne tem ideais justiceiros e dá muito valor a sua família e amigos. Ela generosamente faria qualquer coisa em seu poder para ajudar seus companheiros e pessoas aleatórias que foram vitimizadas, uma vez ajudando uma detenta maltratada ao ir atrás das pessoas que roubaram seu dinheiro.[14] Jolyne é disposta a acreditar no bem das pessoas, o que resultou em várias traições, mas também ganhou a amizade de F.F..[15] Jolyne é especialmente doce com Emporio, seu primeiro aliado verdadeiro dentro da Green Dolphin Street, e apesar de seu status como um inimigo, ela não desejou matar o Bebê Verde. A motivação primária de Jolyne para investigar Whitesnake foi o amor pelo seu pai. Entretanto, Pucci tirou proveito dessa afeição para escapar quando ele jogou o disco de memória de Jotaro dentro de um Anasui quase morto, deixando-a com uma escolha difícil e forçando-a a salvar a memória de seu pai.[16]

Fora do combate, Jolyne age como uma mulher jovem normal, senão uma adolescente, passando tempo com seus amigos e se ocupando da melhor forma que ela consegue na prisão, sendo uma pessoa que ama diversão. Jolyne notavelmente jogou beisebol com F.F. e Ermes,[17] e fazendo um piercing para seu umbigo enquanto sozinha.[18] Diferente de seu pai, Jolyne é bastante extrovertida e facilmente expressa seus sentimentos aos outros. Ela é inerentemente social e consegue conversar com seus companheiros de prisão fácilmente, pedindo explicações sobre como a Green Dolphin Street funciona.

Provocando guardas

Jolyne é notavel em ser um tanto libertina, sendo a primeira e única JoJo à admitir se masturbar,[19] e bruscamente comentando que a habilidade de caracóis de copular com qualquer coisa a deixa com um pouco de inveja.[20] Jolyne também menciona sua necessidade de urinar no meio de uma batalha com outra pessoa. Entretanto, ela fica terrivelmente envergonhada de falar sobre masturbação em público e ser pega por um guarda a agitou e a atormentou profundamente.[19]

Araki criou Jolyne com a esperança de "compensar" por sua prévia (e em seu ponto de vista, falhada) tentativa de criar uma protagonista feminina. Além de oferecer um contraste interessante a maioria de mangás shonen, ele acha que ela é uma "mulher de verdade" que está em falta nesse ambiente. A troca de papeis entre ela e seu pai foi feita para seu personagem ir além dos arquétipos comuns vistos na ficção japonesa.[21]

Stone Free garante a Jolyne a habilidade de desvendar partes de seu corpo em fios. Isso o torna um Stand muito versátil, permitindo que ela ouça comunicações assim como escapar e se esconder ao desfiar partes de seu corpo.

Quando ela monta os fios, Jolyne pode materializar Stone Free, por completo ou parcialmente. Stone Free é um Stand humanoide que possui capacidades físicas comparáveis às dos Stands mais fortes, com A em Poder Destrutivo, Durabilidade, e Potencial de Desenvolvimento

Diferente do resto de sua família, Jolyne despertou seu Stand ao se cortar com um amuleto (mais tarde revelado ser uma cabeça de flecha criadora de Stands em disfarce) dado à ela por seu pai.

A postura de luta de Jolyne
  • Inteligência: A melhor habilidade de Jolyne é sua imaginação. Com o poder versátil de seu Stand ela pode usá-lo para uma multitude de coisas. Por exemplo quando Pucci usou C-Moon para inverter o corpo de Jolyne, ela usou o Stone Free para criar uma "Fita de Möbius" fazendo com que ela se tornasse efetivamente invulnerável ao seu poder.[22]

Assim como os outros Joestars, Jolyne é particularmente adepta à usar o que quer que seja para sua vantagem, como o ambiente e o próprio poder do inimigo. O pensamento rápido de Jolyne a permitiu prevalecer contra seus inimigos.

Jolyne combina suas táticas com um grande nível de imprudência, muitas vezes se arriscando para surpreender inimigos com uma ação inesperada. A natureza particular de seu poder permite que ela consiga sair ilesa com o dano que a maioria de usuários de Stand ordinários não arriscariam em uma luta.

A inteligência de Jolyne é intuitiva até certa parte, já que ela diz que algumas de suas ações foram apenas sorte,[23] embora isso seja uma interpretação válida.

  • Combate Mano-a-Mano: Ela já demonstrou ser capaz de se defender, visto em detalhe completo contra o Oficial Westwood. Ela tem um conhecimento extensivo de auto defesa, que ela demonstra durante a série, notavelmente contra Pucci.

  • Jotaro Kujo: Her distant and near-fatherless childhood bore a tinge of loneliness in her, at times resenting him but also wanting his affection. Her relationship with Jotaro is challenging at first, not really fitting the typical father-daughter mold. When Jolyne was fourteen, she was wrongfully accused of pickpocketing. Panicked, she stole a car, sloppily tried to make an escape from the authorities, and was arrested soon afterward. Jolyne anticipated that Jotaro would pay her bail, but was sorely disappointed when she overheard her mother's frantic and unsuccessful pleas with him on the phone. Her father's absence following this led to her teenage years of delinquency (she later reflects that these events were a desperate call for attention). During Jolyne's imprisonment, Jotaro visited her in an effort to break her out. Angered that he would come out of the blue to see her after years of absence, Jolyne blew up at him, citing his inattentive behavior and his divorce. However, after risking life and limb to get Jolyne out as well as losing his Stand in the process, Jolyne broke down and got Jotaro to safety, sacrificing her own freedom and vowing to get his Stand back. As time passed, Jolyne came to respect her father more and idolized him somewhat, adapting his trademark "Yare yare daze" into a more feminine "Yare yare dawa". When Jotaro returns later, both father and daughter show considerable care to one another, each in their own way.
  • Mother: Jolyne's mother rarely appears and is hardly talked about. It's assumed that she loves Jolyne very much and dotes on her in Jotaro's absence, as she was the only known person to be allowed to call Jolyne "JoJo". It's mentioned that she is an American.

Amigos

  • Ermes Costello: Ermes is possibly the first true friend that Jolyne encounters in her life when they meet and bond in jail. Her relationship with Ermes resembles that of Jotaro's relationship with Jean Pierre Polnareff. Jolyne and Ermes see each other as worthy allies and friends, and because of their similar temper, get along well and kill time together. She has fought alongside Jolyne against many powerful enemies like Sports Maxx, Rikiel, & Donatello Versus.
  • Emporio Alnino: Emporio's relationship with Jolyne is somewhat similar to her ancestor Jonathan Joestar to Poco, as Jolyne treats Emporio like a little brother and trustworthy ally, while Emporio is inspired by her courage and determination. Jolyne saves him from many dangerous situations and eventually sacrifices herself so than he may live, trusting that Emporio will defeat Pucci. Emporio's relationship with Jolyne extends to Irene as well.
  • Foo Fighters: Foo Fighters initially met Jolyne as enemies. However, Jolyne spares Foo Fighters; grateful to Jolyne, they become an ally. Jolyne treats Foo Fighters with respect and is very friendly with them, and noting their naïveté, is protective toward them. Foo Fighters, nicknamed F.F. by Jolyne, is inspired by her determination, and cherishes the memories they have of her. They are ultimately willing to put themself in danger and even sacrifice themself to save Jolyne's life.
  • Romeo Jisso: Before Jolyne's growth as a person, she and Romeo were in a relationship; with Jolyne being particularly affectionate and meek and Romeo trying to keep some distance, as he was suspicious of her past as a possible gang member. Their relationship ended when Romeo framed her for his manslaughter with aggravating circumstance, landing her in prison for a crime she didn't commit. After she escapes from prison, Jolyne pays him a visit and he weeps for forgiveness. Romeo shows genuine repentance and actually helps her, but while Jolyne doesn't show any lingering anger, she takes the occasion to damage his tongue to silence him.
  • Weather Report: When they first met, Jolyne was flabbergasted by Weather's eccentric behavior. However, during the fight against Lang Rangler, both eventually see each other as allies, and trust each other. Anasui even suspects him to be a rival for Jolyne's love and is jealous when Jolyne is with him. Regardless, there are hints of Jolyne caring for Weather in a more-than-fraternal way notably when upon meeting again, Jolyne hugs Weather. Jolyne was also particularly distraught at Weather's death.
  • Narciso Anasui: Though Anasui fell in love with Jolyne at first sight, the feeling wasn't mutual; Jolyne was not really sure what to think of him. He would sometimes try to seduce her in underhanded ways, such as asking F.F. to trip her down the stairs so he could romantically catch her or prompting a French kiss from a temporary-mute Jolyne. Even so, he's truly devoted to her and will do everything in his power to keep her from being distressed. He has risked his life for her on more than one occasion and turns murderous when Jolyne is severely hurt. Eventually, during the final confrontation at Cape Canaveral Jolyne tells him that he can ask for her hand in marriage. At the end of Stone Ocean, Jolyne and Anasui's counterparts Irene and Anakiss want to marry each other.

Inimigos

  • Enrico Pucci: Pucci only saw Jolyne as bait at first in order to get to Jotaro but as she proved to be a persistent thorn on his side threat while finding her father's Stand and memory disks, Pucci threaded carefully around her. Unaware of his involvement at first, Jolyne treated the priest with respect. They became enemies right away once she was informed that Whitesnake was Pucci's Stand and was eager to take his life. Jolyne became more than determined in stopping him and putting an end to his plans but her efforts would soon be fatal while she almost fell to Pucci's newly evolved C-Moon and would finally fall to his Made In Heaven while protecting Emporio, but has managed to cut the right side of his eye before dying.
  • Donatello Versus: Due to his alliance with Pucci, Donatello and Jolyne were enemies. An additional reason for their antagonism would be that Jolyne's father destroyed Donatello's father. In the end Jolyne accidentally killed Donatello after being tricked by Whitesnake into thinking he was Pucci. Unbeknownst to either of them since Donatello was conceived when Dio possessed Jonathan's body Donatello is actually Jolyne's distant uncle.
  • Johngalli A.: As the man who got her framed for murder, Jolyne and Johngalli A. were enemies. Johngalli A. attempted to murder Jolyne and Jotaro to avenge DIO but failed. As payback, Jolyne pummeled Johngalli A. as the sniper realized that Jolyne was more resourceful than she looked and inherited Jotaro's blood.
  • Gwess: Jolyne's cellmate during her time at Green Dolphin. Jolyne inadvertently awakened Gwess's Stand power with her pendant. Gwess originally used her powers to bully Jolyne by shrinking her, but after Jolyne beat her she acted like her subordinate, advising Jolyne during her early days in prison and being somewhat afraid of her. Jolyne still had an arm-length relationship with Gwess but nonetheless tolerated her afterward.
  • Miuccia Miuller: Miu is an assassin sent by Pucci to make sure Jolyne doesn't interfere with his plans. Miu manipulated Jolyne into forgetting her goals and friends. After Jolyne remembered them, she beat up Miu and used her to escape the prison.

  • Na publicação orignal da Weekly Shonen Jump do Capítulo 34 de Stone Ocean, Jolyne diz que Foo Fighters parece uma Okama (オカマ) (gíria japonesa para homosexual) quando jogando uma bola de beisebol. No lançamento do volume, a palavra é trocada por gay (ゲイ, gei).[24]
  • Assim como os outros protagonistas, ela é apelidada de "JoJo". Entretanto, diferente de seu bisavô e pai, ela incialmente não gostava de ser chamada disso, deixando somente sua mãe chamá-la por esse apelido.
  • De acordo com Hideto Azuma, o editor de Araki durante Stone Ocean, ele havia pedido que Jolyne fosse um homem já que a Weekly Shonen Jump era uma revista para meninos. Entretanto, Araki insistiu no gênero de Jolyne, dizendo que o fato de que os leitores não aceitariam uma protagonista feminina seria a exata razão para Jolyne ter que ser uma mulher.[25]
