Bohemian Rhapsody, Part 1 (自由人の狂想曲(ボヘミアン・ラプソディー)その①, Bohemian Rapusodī Sono 1, kanji lit. "Freeman's Fantasy") is the twenty-fifth episode of Stone Ocean and the one-hundred-seventy-seventh episode of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. The episode covers from Chapter 103 to Chapter 106 of the original manga.

With just five days until the new moon, Enrico Pucci fatefully meets three wounded men outside a hospital. Later, Anasui and Weather Report find themselves in the midst of an outbreak of fictional characters come to life.

Summary

Having successfully broken out of Green Dolphin Street Prison, Jolyne Cujoh, Ermes Costello, and Emporio Alnino contemplate their next move in front of a bus station. Jolyne and Ermes reflect on their time in prison, and attempt to decide on a means of transportation to pursue Pucci. Emporio suggests riding the bus, but is quickly shot down by the two wanted ex-convicts. Jolyne throws her prison jacket to the wind, prepared to seal the priest's ability no matter what the cost.

Meanwhile, Weather Report informs Narciso Anasui that Jolyne has broken out of prison to pursue Pucci, having somehow sensed her escape. As Weather prepares to do the same in search of his identity, Anasui notices a new star-shaped birthmark on his neck—the same birthmark that Jolyne, her father, and the Green Baby bear.

While taking a taxi toward Cape Canaveral, Pucci hears that Jolyne and her accomplices have broken out of prison through a radio announcement. Suddenly, the taxi breaks down three miles outside Orlando. Pucci also sees that the fare meter has stopped at thirty-three dollars and thirty-three cents, and that a copy of The Three Musketeers has been left in the front seat. Baffled at these coincidences, Pucci decides to leave the taxi and continue on foot. While walking past a hospital, Pucci sees three men being delivered to the building on stretchers, and three metal objects fall from their bodies and roll toward him. The priest reaches down to pick up one of the objects, but is suddenly taken hostage by one of the three men, a drug addict named Ungalo. Ungalo threatens to stab Pucci in the neck with a pair of scissors, but Pucci realizes the meaning of the coincidences around him and decides to impale himself instead. The scissors narrowly miss his nerves, a coincidence which Pucci hails as proof of Ungalo's true heritage. Ungalo tries to flee, only to be shot and wounded by the police. A mysterious figure appears to drag him into the bushes, his star-shaped birthmark now plainly visible.

Anasui and Weather Report, having broken out of prison, find themselves at a public restroom. An old man carrying a bag of groceries trips in front of Weather, who prevents the groceries from spilling. The old man thanks Weather, clarifying that his leg aches whenever it rains. Weather turns back to Anasui, and the two attempt to decide on their means of transportation. Suddenly, the old man offers the two a ride in the back of his truck, noting that the pain in his knee is gone due to the clouds parting directly above him. Weather and Anasui accept the old man's offer, failing to notice the missing figure on the bathroom sign.

While riding in the back of the truck, Weather and Anasui discuss Jolyne's location. Anasui notices a theme park guidebook in a crate, but is surprised to find all of the fictional characters within it missing. The two notice and capture a living being moving around the truck bed, revealed to be a wooden doll named Pinocchio. Anasui attempts to interrogate the doll for information about the enemy, but is interrupted by the ramblings of a group of dwarves. A broadcast over the radio reveals that fictional characters have been disappearing across the world. Anasui asks for Weather's advice, but finds that the amnesiac cannot see or hear him. Weather frantically searches for Anasui before pleading with the old man to stop the truck. Anasui looks over the edge of the truck bed to find his own body under the tires, and Pinocchio announces that Anasui was a fan of his after all. For his part, the old man cannot hear Weather's screams as he plays with the dwarves, having himself been separated. The truck crashes into a signpost, but Weather creates airbags for all three human passengers, protecting them from the force of the impact.

Weather tends to Anasui's body, still unaware that Anasui's soul has been separated from it. Anasui realizes that the enemy's ability brings fictional characters into the real world that split the bodies and souls of those who recognize them. His soul further interrogates Pinocchio, who knows nothing of the user or his position but sings the praises of his ability, Bohemian Rhapsody. Anasui, fed up with the doll's ramblings, summons Diver Down and tears it apart. Anasui's soul attempts to pursue his body, only to be attacked by the old man as he transforms into the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood. Diver Down decapitates the werewolf, who proclaims that events are proceeding just as they do in the story. Anasui's soul catches a glimpse of his body and Weather riding a bus into the nearby city, and prepares to give chase.

Meanwhile, Weather feels the enemy's presence to the north of him, and senses that their attack has only just begun.

Manga/Anime Differences

  • A new scene of Jolyne, Ermes, and Emporio deciding their means of transportation at a gas station has been added.
  • Rikiel is wearing his cow spots outfit, explicitly showing he was the one wearing a skull ring
  • Anasui now interrogates Weather about his birthmark prior to escaping prison, rather than at the public restroom.
  • Pucci meeting the sons of DIO has been moved after Weather and Anasui's conversation.
    • Pucci learns of Jolyne's jailbreak through the radio prior to the taxi breaking down.
  • A humorous moment of Weather learning how to operate a sink is removed.
  • Anasui's dialogue regarding Disneyland is significantly shortened, and Anasui no longer mentions the park or Mickey Mouse by name.
  • Batman is mentioned instead of Mickey Mouse
  • Mickey Mouse is not mentioned by Pinocchio, nor is his tail seen.
  • Anasui's soul no longer returns to his body following Pinocchio's destruction.
  • Anasui's body rides the bus with Weather rather than his soul. Its internal monologue has been removed.
    • As such, Anasui's soul successfully summons Diver Down and decapitates the Big Bad Wolf from the front, as his body failed to do in the manga.
  • The Big Bad Wolf mentions events proceeding according to the story while dying, giving Anasui a clue toward the true nature of Bohemian Rhapsody.
