Star Platinum (スタープラチナ（星の白金）, Sutā Purachina) é o Stand de Jotaro Kujo, apresentado na terceira parte de JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stardust Crusaders. Ele também aparece na quarta parte, Diamond is Unbreakable, e na sexta parte, Stone Ocean.

Star Platinum é um Stand de curto-alcance com força e velocidade excepcional, assim como a habilidade de parar o tempo que foi ganha durante a batalha contra DIO. Seu poder esmagador, junto da habilidade em lutas de Jotaro, o torna um dos Stands mais fortes e icônicos da obra.

Aparência

Star Platinum é um Stand humanoide, lembrando um homem alto e com um porte forte de proporções similares ao Jotaro, se não mais musculoso. Em artes coloridas, sua pele é muitas vezes um tom entre roxo, azul, verde, e pequenas partes douradas. Seu rosto e corpo possuem cores que variam.

Ele possui um longo cabelo e um tom escuro acima de seus olhos e na ponte de seu nariz, fazendo uma distinção entre seu cabelo e cabeça. Os espaços abaixo de seus olhos e em suas bochechas e queixo são de uma cor mais escura e dividida claramente do espaço em volta de seu nariz e boca. Ele possui uma protusão em seu queixo, e veste uma bandana metálica de três peças, a peça central sendo no formato de um elipse vertical. Inicialmente, suas características faciais eram muito similares às de Jotaro.

Uma linha ondulante atravessa de cada braço até a fente de seu tronco, continuando até suas pernas. Ele possi um vestuário e armaduras limitadas, incluindo um cachecol curto, ombreiras com um padrão de espiral, luvas longas e cravejadas, joelheiras e cotoveleiras, uma tanga, e botas curtas (que ficam na altura dos joelhos na Parte 6).

Star Platinum foi criado para parecer um espírito da guarda. Suas ombreiras se assemelham às usadas em Hokuto no Ken. Os padrões de espiral simbolizam o Hamon e o conceito da infinidade.[1]

Na adaptação de anime da Parte 4, todas as roupas do Star Platinum, tais como seu cachecol vermelho e suas luvas pretas, se tornam brancas, refletindo a transição das roupas de Jotaro de preto para branco. Seus realces roxo-escuros, tais como os abaixo de seus olhos, se tornam cianos.

Personalidade

The Star

Despite not having a consciousness of its own, Jotaro has described Star Platinum as very violent. It is silent, except when it throws punches, during which it cries "ORAORAORA!" loudly and repeatedly. With a relatively human face, it may show hints of emotion by scowling and smiling.

Star Platinum does demonstrate a sense of self-preservation, as seen when it halts a bullet Jotaro experimentally shoots at his own head,[2] protects an incapacitated Jotaro from DIO's attacks during Time Stop, and revives him from near-death by directly pumping his heart[3] (however, considering Star Platinum's pioneering role in the series, this capacity may speak primarily to the metaphysical or subconscious qualities of Stand users).

In the original manga, Star Platinum, early on, is seen with a wide, disconcerting smile. Later on, Star Platinum gains Jotaro's stoic visage, with its future grins only serving to warn the unlucky target of Jotaro's rage that they are about to experience an unimaginable amount of pain.

Star Platinum is named after the seventeenth Tarot Card, The Star, which symbolizes optimism, discernment, and hope.

Star Platinum is a Close-Range, with a basic reach of only 2 meters from Jotaro's body, but with incredible strength, speed, and precision.

Superhuman Capabilities

As one of the most powerful Stands featured in the series, Star Platinum has an overwhelming physical prowess in every basic characteristic, save for range. Coupled with Jotaro's own cleverness in combat, the Stand is capable of defeating most Stand users without the use of any complex abilities. In addition, Jotaro's eventual discovery of its true potential only makes it all the more formidable in combat.

  • Super Strength: Star Platinum possesses immense strength, being able to throw a Jeep carrying four men and a girl out of the path of an 18-wheeler with one hand, later pulling the same Jeep out of a canyon with only a car as a counter-weight,[4] and destroy large artificial diamonds within seconds.[5] This same strength allows it to launch itself and its user into the air to clear long distances.
  • Super Speed: Star Platinum boasts phenomenal speed. It was able to intercept a bullet fired from point-blank range,[2] briefly contended with Silver Chariot (whilst it was using Anubis),[6] and is stated to exceed the speed of light.[7]
  • Precision: Star Platinum is incredibly precise; it can surgically remove an object embedded in a person's skull without ill effect, catch both a bullet and a minuscule Stand like Lovers between his thumb and forefinger in midair, and create a near photo-realistic drawing of a small Egyptian fly from a dark, blurry photo.[8]
  • Enhanced Eyesight: Star Platinum utilizes eagle-like eyesight throughout Stardust Crusaders. Jotaro has used Star Platinum's eyes to see four kilometers across a desert,[9] as well as identify meaningful details, such as a specific type of fly in high-resolution images.[8] It can also follow a card shuffle performed by a professional gambler, subsequently recounting the entire new order of the deck.
  • Enhanced Breath: Star Platinum inhales with superhuman lung capacity, capable of sucking in the entire fog Stand Justice and holding it long enough for its user to suffocate.[10]
  • Enhanced Durability: Star Platinum's defense allows it to defend its user from various attacks such as Hierophant Green's Emerald Splash or The World's strikes. It is also able to minimize environmental damage when Jotaro is sent flying through objects.
Star Platinum's specialty
  • Ora Ora[11] (オラオラ, Ora Ora): Star Platinum's primary method of attack. It throws an extremely fast but precise barrage of powerful punches to pulverize an opponent or destroy objects.[12]
  • Star Finger (流星指刺(スターフィンガー), Sutā Fingā, lit. "Meteor Finger Stab"): Star Platinum can forcibly extend its middle and index fingers, allowing it to perform sneak attacks and stab opponents from afar.[13] The technique's frequency of usage decreased as the battles intensified.[1]

Star Platinum: The World


During the final battle with DIO in Stardust Crusaders, Star Platinum awakens the ability to stop time. The technique is referred to by Jotaro as Star Platinum: The World (スタープラチナ　ザ・ワールド, Sutā Purachina Za Wārudo), named after the late antagonist's Stand, The World.

Time Stop

Star Platinum: The World stops time

When activated, Star Platinum is able to halt the flow of time for a brief moment, causing everything around him to appear frozen in place. During this time-lapse, Jotaro is able to interact with any object or person within his range. Measures of time during Time Stop correspond to normal measures, as shown by Jotaro's unwilling reduction in the duration of Time Stop affected by Made in Heaven. He is unable to use the ability consecutively, requiring a few seconds in between each usage.[14]

In Jotaro's prime, the ability could last up to 5 seconds,[16] but decreased over time due to lack of combat.[1] Ten years after its initial use, Jotaro is only able to stop time for half a second, but intuitively extends it to 1–2 seconds throughout the later half of Diamond is Unbreakable.[17][18]

In Stone Ocean, particularly during The Visitor story arc, Jotaro is still seemingly only able to stop time for up to two seconds, though the validity of this is questionable, as it was only mentioned within Jolyne's illusion created by Whitesnake's "Melt your heart" ability. During the final battle at Cape Canaveral against Made in Heaven, he is able to stop time for up to 5 seconds.[19]

Star Platinum Over Heaven

The information below derives from a source not written by Araki. As such, it may or may not be considered canon.
SPOILER WARNING: Part / Game spoiler details may follow.

In the story mode of the game Eyes of Heaven, Jotaro eventually comes face to face with Heaven Ascension DIO, the game's final boss. As their fight went on, Star Platinum and The World's same-type aspect came into play once more, enabling Star Platinum to learn The World Over Heaven's signature ability: Overwrite Reality.

This grants Star Platinum the same potentially limitless ability to rewrite time and reality itself, the only true limitation being that it requires the use of its hands to do so. Despite these changes, Star Platinum does not gain an appearance change, unlike The World Over Heaven.

As a result of its powers, all of the temporal anomalies disappeared after the death of Heaven Ascension DIO. The world reverted back to normal and Jotaro lost Star Platinum Over Heaven.[20]

  • Star Platinum is one of the most portrayed Stands in the series, appearing in 398 panels. Behind it are Sex Pistols (385 panels) and Silver Chariot (367 panels).[21]
  • Star Platinum only uses Star Finger twice in the manga, once against Dark Blue Moon, and once against Forever. However, in the anime, it uses it a third time against Polnareff wielding Anubis.[22]
