Hol Horse and Boingo, Part 1 (ホル·ホースとボインゴ その1, Horu Hōsu to Boingo Sono Ichi)[1] is the thirty-sixth episode of Stardust Crusaders, the twelfth episode of the Egypt Arc, and the sixty-second episode of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. It covers Chapter 210 and Chapter 217 through first few pages of Chapter 219 of the manga.

Summary

Hol Horse meets up with DIO, who gives him one final chance to defeat Jotaro's group, making it clear what the consequences of failure are. To accomplish his goals, Hol Horse kidnaps Boingo and takes him with him to Cairo, coercing him to team up with him so that he combines Tohth's prediction abilities with his Emperor's power. Hol Horse doubts this power at first but soon discovers that not even his own willpower can resist the predictions Tohth gives out.

Meanwhile, as Jotaro's group try to find information about DIO's hideout, Joseph learns that Holy's condition has worsened and has only a few more days to live. Tohth gives Hol Horse an absurd prediction that he will have a chance to kill the group by sticking his fingers up Polnareff's nose, which he is obviously skeptical about. However, when Polnareff gets the jump on him and almost discovers Boingo hiding, Hol Horse gives into fate and shoves his fingers up Polnareff's nose, leaving him uncertain how the rest of the prophecy is supposed to be fulfilled.

Commentary

This episode begins with Hol Horse face-to-face with Dio. The former discovers his insignificance before Dio, who is presented as the incarnation of charisma. Although in the last part of the series, we will see him afraid of the Joestar lineage when he'll finally fight Jotaro's group.

Hol Horse and Boingo make for a grotesque duo which ends up being really funny. Boingo pukes a lot of stuff without stopping, but it strangely ends up looking good and it lays out the foundation of their relationship.(laughs)

We've had barely enough time to learn that Holy won't have much time left that the fight against Hol Horse starts in the corner of an alley in Cairo. About the streets and the city scapes, I recommend you to consult the background designs if you can. They are real paintings, truly an excellent work.

At the end, Hol Horse sticks his fingers in Polnareff's nose for a still obscure reason. Of course we'll end the episode on this. (laughs).

It's the second time that we use a special ending with this episode. In reality, the song had been recorded six months prior. So Hidenobu Kiuchi (Hol Horse VA) and Motoko Kumai (Boingo) have waited a long time before hearing themselves sing on TV.
