A short interview with Hirohiko Araki from Yomiuri Shimbun, a newspaper publisher in Japan. It was released on May 5, 2022.
I want to draw art powerful enough to captivate the whole room. For example, seeing Picasso's paintings in person, they have an overwhelming presence about them. Manga like Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk also have this same kind of energy that makes them instantly recognizable. That's the type of art I am for.
What's in store for JoJo in the future?
Araki: "JoJo isn't just about showing the good side of people. I think it's an ode to humanity to shine light upon those with troubled or darker minds. The theme of flawed individuals growing by facing their own trials and tribulations will always remain the same."
