I've just released a book called "Hirohiko Araki's Bizarre Horror Movie Analysis." In this book, I discuss around 100 horror films. As for specific movie recommendations, I think you'll pick one yourself once you read it. The most difficult part was this obi. The original editor-in-chief was involved in planning it, and it was a nostalgic "dream match" for us! But when he asked me to recreate a horror character, that request was incredibly difficult. It was the hardest part. My obi design got rejected about five times. At first, I made a zombie, but he said, "No, a zombie won’t do. It has to be a new horror character. A real horror character!" But, you know, you can’t just make a character like that without writing a whole story first. And I don’t think someone who used to edit manga should be saying stuff like that anyways. So, I thought about it for about five hours, then I drew one of my manga characters, Kishibe Rohan, cosplaying as a horror character, and finally, it got approved. They slapped on this massive, oversized obi around the book. It’s huge! Normally, an obi is this size, but this one is double the size. It feels like cheating, right? Well, that’s the kind of book it is. I hope you enjoy it.
えっと、今度、荒木飛呂彦の奇妙なホラー映画論って本を出させていただきました。ホラー映画100本ぐらいについて、ちょっと語らせていただいてる本なんですけれども、まあ特におすすめは、読んでいただければわかるって感じなんですけど、一番苦労した点、それはやっぱこの帯ですね。やっぱり初代編集担当の人が企画して関わってまして、再びの懐かしのドリームマッチなんですけれども、その編集者の尾びこめをかけていう時に、とにかくホラーキャラを改めて作れっていうその依頼がね、もうものすごい、なんかすごい大変だった。一番大変で、5回ぐらいダメらしくなって。最初、ゾンビ変えたんですけど、ゾンビじゃダメだってね。新たになるホラーキャラ、ホラーキャラじゃなきゃダメだって。それってさ、ストーリーからいる書かなきゃキャラクターでできないんですよ。そういうのを、なんか昔漫画の編集したことある人が語ることじゃないと思うんですけど、それを5時間ぐらい悩んで、で、岸辺露伴っていう僕の作った漫画家のキャラクターがいるんですけど、それにコスプレさせたやつを書いたら、OKが出たっていう。なんかこんなんって、広いでっかい帯なんかつけちゃって、普通はこのぐらいなんですけど、倍ぐらいあるんで、これは反則ですよね。そういう本です。よろしくお願いいたします。
