The Nijimura Brothers (3) (虹村兄弟 その3, Nijimura Kyodai Sono San) is the seventy-ninth episode of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime and the fifth episode of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. It covers Chapter 281 through the beginning of Chapter 284 of the manga.

Summary

After Keicho is defeated, Koichi wants to destroy the Bow and Arrow so that no one else will be killed and he discovers a room with a monstrous creature in it - along with the Bow and Arrow. Noting that this was not a Stand, Josuke regardless sends Crazy Diamond to free Koichi, but accidently severs the hand grabbing Koichi, though the creature regenerated his hand back. Keicho soon after enters the room and says that he is his father. Ten years ago, when the Nijimura family were in a bad economic condition following the missus' passing, Keicho's father sold his soul to DIO in exchange for money. But DIO didn't trust him and implanted his cells inside of him, making him turn into a beast upon his death. Since then he has been rummaging in a box and then crying every day. Keicho then explains his reason for using the Bow & Arrow: he wants to find a Stand user that can kill his father so that he can die like a man because whenever the eldest Nijimura son tries to kill him, he just regenerates from it, even if his head is destroyed.

Josuke then noticed what Keicho's father has been rummaging through, and restores the box and the torn-apart object inside and reveals that he has been trying to piece a picture of the whole Nijimura family together, now practically restored thanks to Crazy Diamond. Josuke tells Keicho to try and find a Stand user that can heal his father instead of kill him. Josuke wants to destroy the Bow and Arrow but Keicho is unwilling to give it up. Okuyasu joins the persuasion until they were interrupted when Josuke spots a figure looking into the room from the skylight, then disappears.

When Josuke asks the brothers if they have any relatives, a Stand comes out of the outlet, aiming to kill Keicho and take the Bow & Arrow. Keicho quickly knocks Okuyasu away and the Stand, who introduces itself as Red Hot Chili Pepper, impales its arm through Keicho's chest. Keicho tries to summon Bad Company to free himself, but Red Hot Chili Pepper shocks Keicho to make him dismiss his Stand and pulls him towards the socket Red Hot Chili Pepper came from and transforms itself and Keicho into electricity and phases inside the outlit, killing the Nijimura brother. Just prior to this, Keicho forbade Okuyasu from trying to save him, sparing him from a similar fate. Josuke goes to the roof in pursuit of the figure he saw earlier, only to see Keicho's charred black corpse on some telephone wires.

Meanwhile, an anonymous caller calls Jotaro at his hotel, telling him that he is the one who stole the Bow and Arrow from Keicho. The caller presses Jotaro to leave Morioh, but once Jotaro starts questioning him, the phone is electrocuted and the call ends. The next day, Okuyasu arrives at Josuke's house to join him in going to school. Josuke is taken aback with Okuyasu's childish enthusiasm while Josuke's mother offers to make Okuyasu coffee while her son finishes getting ready. Okuyasu then expresses how he thinks Josuke's mother is pretty attractive as Josuke humorously slides on the front door to the floor in exasperation of Okuyasu's antics.

Manga/Anime Differences

  • Nijimura father's transformation scene is extended.
  • Okuyasu meeting Josuke for school is added.
  • Here, Keicho's recollection begins 11 years before (1988) instead of the manga's 10 years (1989), which mean the year before his dad's transformation instead of starting immediately there. Probably done for a clearer story telling, since the story is now told in chronological order instead going 10 years back then a couple before then to go back to 10 year before.
    • In addition when showing the flashback of DIO, instead of DIO in his revealed form standing over Earth, only the obscurred face of "Shadow DIO" is shown.
  • In the picture of the Nijimura family, the symbol on Okuyasu's bat is removed.
  • Keicho's death scene is slightly extended, with electrical interference effects added to his face.
    • His body is also altered, with his skin and clothing now electrically charred instead of rended lightly smoked.

Trivia

  • This episode features The Hand during the Stand info card sequence, despite not appearing in the episode at all and having been introduced two episodes prior.
