Summary

A week prior, Toshikazu Hazamada was shot by an Arrow. However, he ended up surviving, considering himself reborn that day. Since then, Hazamada would mess around with his classmates by leaving gum on the floor for someone to step on, or spilling water on the seat of a girl he found annoying. His teacher criticizes his unenthusiastic attitude and asks him to cut his long hair since it's against school rules. While eating a snack in an alley, Hazamada reflects on his life being exciting because of the various activities he does like picking on small animals without getting caught and slowly sanding down the elbows of his teacher's jacket. A man that exactly resembles his teacher, aside from having a screw in his forehead, then brings an adult manga featuring tentacles to him, which Hazamada had asked him to buy. The man tells Hazamada that he should exercise more to improve his mindset, but Hazamada rejects his advice and kicks him. As the man collapses, his body reverts into a wooden doll.

Hazamada reveals that this mannequin suddenly appeared in his room one day, and the man who shot him told him that it's a Stand ability. Surface is able to transform into a copy of anyone that it touches and control them by looking at them, which makes Hazamada believe that he has become the protagonist of his own story. In his room, Surface is transformed into a girl named Junko. She makes fun of Hazamada for the adult catgirl video he has, demanding that he plays with himself so she could record it and send it to her boyfriend. When Hazamada doesn't do anything, she gets annoyed over his indecisiveness and insults him, causing Hazamada to punch her and revert the Stand back into a doll. Hazamada is disappointed about Junko's nature and learning that she has a boyfriend, feeling that there are no more angels left in the world.

He remembers his favorite idol, Ruu Hayama. After his otaku friend, Genki Todo, told him that even Ruu would have a relationship behind the scenes, Hazamada gets him to gouge his eye out. Hazamada becomes determined to prove that angels really do exist, and heads to Ruu's handshake event in Tokyo. One of Ruu's fans, whose username is "FishBreeder", brings an anime figure that he mentioned in a DM to Ruu. However, he is stopped by Ruu's manager, who only permits gifts being placed in a box rather than handed over. Before FishBreeder could even shake Ruu's hand, her manager pulls him away and calls the next person over. Hazamada appears in a bizarre speed skating uniform with his doll hidden on his back, introducing himself by his username "CondemnedSodom". The manager immediately kicks him out due to his suspicious appearance and edgy username. Hazamada bluffs that he's muscular because of speed skating and angrily accuses the manager of discrimination. Suddenly, the doll on his back transforms into the manager. As everyone stares at him in shock, Hazamada runs away screaming.

Hazamada violently rants about the manager wasting his time since he wasn't able to make a copy of Ruu, hitting a fence with a stick. Still transformed into a copy of the manager, Surface tries getting him to calm down, suggesting that they let off some steam before going back home to S City. Hazamada becomes interested in his idea and starts scheming. Meanwhile, Ruu's event is over and she looks at messages on her cellphone. Her boyfriend breaks up with her, accusing her of wanting to shake the hands of her creepy fans more than hang out with him. When Ruu tries calling him, it is revealed that he is on a date with another girl named Lisa. He pretends that the call is from a telemarketer and declines it, making Ruu cry. He invites Lisa to go to a manga café with him since he's been interested in Pink Dark Boy lately. Suddenly, he is punched in the face by Surface. Surface continuously punches the guy, who is confused about what's happening. Surface reveals that his master told him to beat up any annoying popular guy that looked like he was having fun with a girl. Hearing the man's screams while slurping on a drink, Hazamada feels relieved and decides it's time to go home.

As he falls asleep on the train ride, Hazamada reflects on how people have to be "chosen" in order to be the protagonist of their own story, like Peter Parker or Nobita Nobi. Although he may be pathetic, he thinks that one day he might get the spotlight. Time skips to Hazamada at the house of Rohan Kishibe. After reading the despicable traits of Hazamada through Heaven's Door, Rohan believes that no reader would like a character like him in a manga and rejects him. Hazamada cries in shock over the dismissal.
