Kisho Taniyama

Kisho Taniyama (谷山 紀章, Taniyama Kishō) is a Japanese voice actor and singer who voices Yuya Fungami in the third season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation, Diamond is Unbreakable.

He is also well known for his roles as Kittan Bachika in Gurren Lagann, Dark Schneider in Bastard!!, Chuya Nakahara in Bungo Stray Dogs, Jean Kirstein in Attack on Titan, Tatsuya Himuro in Kuroko's Basketball, Natsuki Shinomiya in Uta no Prince-sama, Len Tsukimori in La Corda d'Oro, Crow in Show by Rock!!, and Stiyl Magnus in A Certain Magical Index.

Under the stage name Kishow, he is also the vocalist and lyricist for the Japanese rock band GRANRODEO that specializes in anime soundtracks, having created multiple opening songs for Bungou Stray Dogs, Baki, and other anime.

Biography

Kisho Taniyama was born in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan on August 11, 1975. He graduated from Yamaguchi Prefectural Ube High School.[1] and the Voice Acting Department of Yoyogi Animation Academy.

After watching the animated film Akira, he became interested in voice acting. In 1994, after graduating from high school, he moved to Tokyo to attend a specialist school to become a voice actor. In 1995, he was discovered by Michiko Nomura during an in-school audition and later joined Ken Production.[2] He made his voice acting debut as a soldier in Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

In 1999, he voiced one of the main characters in GIZOKU, Natsuki Hamashima. He also formed a music unit named "G.I.zoku" with other voice actors, Hideki Tasaka, Hisayoshi Suganuma, Masaki Horiuchi, and Yusuke Ito (later replaced by Anri Katsu), and they were involved in music activities for about three years.

In February 2005, he debuted as a singer with the single "Daydreamin'". He won the "2nd Talking Championship" held on the mobile site "Voice Actor V-STATION". As a reward, he received a one-hour radio slot, and the commemorative program "Tatatata - Kisho!" was broadcasted. In September, he formed a music unit named GRANRODEO with Masaaki Iizuka on guitar. As the vocalist of GRANRODEO, from around 2009, their song CDs began to rank high on the Oricon rankings.

In October 2007, he made his stage debut in "Applause", a play produced by Takeshi Koyama, and co-starred with Romi Park.

On May 3, 2010, as the vocalist of GRANRODEO, he held a solo live performance at the Nippon Budokan, a first for a male voice actor.[3] He continued to hold live performances at large venues like the Budokan as GRANRODEO's vocalist.

In May 2011, he made his debut in a live-action action film called enishi, playing the lead role. Daisuke Namikawa and Mariya Ise also appeared in the film.

On March 2, 2012, he won the Singing Award at the 6th Seiyu Awards as a member of the "ST☆RISH" unit from Uta no Prince-sama.[4]
