GW Episode 29
Summary
Having made a mould of the Boss' face and fingerprints from the negatives, Team Bucciarati leaves the beach while Giorno researches the fingerprints. Although Trish realizes that the Boss was nearby, Bucciarati is against seeking him at the moment; new enemies must be gathering and they still aren't certain of the Boss' identity. However, the team's every effort to investigate all possible databases of fingerprints, from criminal records to death records, come empty.
Suddenly, someone directly calls the team through the laptop, declaring that they're allies both trying to defeat the Boss of Passione: Diavolo. Having seen proof that they are actually working against Diavolo, the caller then invites Team Bucciarati to meet in Rome, showing a picture of the Arrow and claiming that there is another hidden potential that can be acquired, the likes of which could defeat King Crimson. While suspicious of the caller, Bucciarati accepts the deal and the team leaves Sardegna on boat, unaware that Diavolo has been observing the team from afar. Noting the air of determination around them and frustrated about his past that keeps reemerging, Diavolo orders Doppio to pursue the rogue Passione members and to call in his organization's most dangerous (and depraved) Stand Users: Cioccolata and Secco.
Meanwhile, Team Bucciarati's mysterious ally explains the origin of the Arrow; it and its fellows are made from a meteorite that crashed in Greenland, which was rediscovered in 1987 by a team of surveyors. Despite the frozen climate preventing bacterias and viruses alike from proliferating, the team all fell ill, developed tumors and died. More importantly, one of the victims displayed extrasensorial powers, shooting electricity from his fingers. A virus contained within the meteor killed the men, but in turn could grant power if the host survived, leading to a man creating the Arrows and letting Stands proliferate in the world. However, the caller then refrains from revealing the hidden potential of the Arrows. When Bucciarati asks where they should meet precisely, the caller tells them to go to the Colosseum.
Night has fallen as Team Bucciarati arrives at a small coastal village near Rome; Mista and Narancia go on the lookout while everyone else remains inside Coco Jumbo. Seeing some drunkards on the seaside promenade, the team decides to hide and observe for the time being. Two drunk men argue, one wanting to piss in the public fountain, the other prefering to do it in a letterbox. The first man clings to the fountain as his friend tries to pull him, but his body suddenly is split in two as a strange substance eats at his body. Seeing the grey goo eating at all the people nearby, Mista understands that they are under attack. However, when he draws his gun, his hand is also attacked by the substance. Unbeknownst to the Team, Cioccolata and Secco are filming them from a vantage point. Cioccolata has just deployed his Stand, Green Day, which spreads mold into the air.
A flashback reveals that Cioccolata, age 34, is a murderous former surgeon obsessed with observing the death and suffering of others. He notably modified doses of anesthetics so that patients would awake in the middle of the operation; moreover, he has a history of tricking people into getting operated on. Before becoming a doctor, he volunteered at a retirement home, using his position as an excuse to conduct horrible torture on the elderly people in his care. His only consistent ally is Secco, a former patient who somehow became his onetime tormentor's human pet. Secco's main role is to record the results of Cioccolata's work on a video camera, allowing the mad doctor to review them at his leisure.
In the present, Doppio has boarded a plane toward Rome, being instructed by the Boss to carefully watch Cioccolata and Secco. While the two men are extremely powerful, the Boss is wary of them, considering them among the very few people he is openly disgusted by. Indeed, Cioccolata and Secco are said to be exceptionally cruel and evil, even among the ranks of Passione; once their mission to eliminate Team Bucciarati is complete, they will need to be reined in before they cause too much damage.
Meanwhile, Team Bucciarati notices that the whole village is being devoured by a strange mold. Unable to detect the enemy, Narancia decides to retreat; the moment he jumps into the boat, he becomes infected by the mold, alongside everyone in the turtle. Despite their condition, Giorno guesses that the Stand attack is triggered by downward movement, being inspired by existing types of mold that specifically prefer low altitudes to spread from there. With his whole body decomposing rapidly, Narancia tries to throw Coco Jumbo back to Mista; unfortunately, his hand falls apart mid-throw. Thinking quickly, Mista shoots the boat's engine to make it explode, sending Narancia up to the shores and saving the team. Bruno gets out to replace the wounded Narancia, sending him to the turtle to be treated by Giorno. Deciding that the priority is to reach Rome, Bucciarati and Mista choose to ascend some stairs to reach a parking lot.
Seeing the team having survived their ordeal, Cioccolata is somewhat impressed.
