GW Episode 33
Summary
After he's defeated Secco, Bucciarati has collapsed on the ground: his body seems to have reached its limits just in front of Colosseum. Doppio is standing just behind him, ready to finish him off.
However, Doppio stays his hand so that he can learn what Bucciarati is after. He thus proposes to help Bucciarati. Although Bucciarati initially refuses, his path is blocked by the road where speeding cars constantly pass and thus resigns himself to tell Doppio to carry him to the Coliseum. When Bruno trips on a handrail and a car nearly crashes into him, Doppio grabs his hand and feels that his body is unnaturally cold; moreover, he also sees that Bruno has gone blind and yet is able to see a wound left by Risotto Nero he's been hiding under his collar. Intrigued, Doppio reflects on Bruno's strange condition as he helps him cross the street but his thoughts are interrupted when he sees Mista.
Immediately hiding both of them, Doppio fails to convince Bucciarati to decides to kill him before Mista sees them but this time, Diavolo calls. The Boss thus tells Doppio to stay his hand, as he's guessed that Bucciarati has become a walking corpse. Although he's gone blind, Bucciarati can see spirits, explaining how he can still see Doppio. As a result, Diavolo partially exposes his soul so that he can emit the same aura as his daughter Trish and fool Bucciarati into mistaking Doppio for her. Not only this plan works, but the real Trish feels Diavolo's presence, causing both Giorno and Mista to rush at her side. This distraction allows Doppio to carry Bucciarati inside the Coliseum unnoticed.Bruno and Doppio have entered the Coliseum. Thinking he's with Trish, Bruno ironically promises "her" that once their battle is over, she can live in his house and enjoy a decent life. Bruno tells Doppio to go upstairs but Diavolo appears again, ordering Doppio to keep facing downwards as he's being watched. Intrigued by this mysterious person, Diavolo then orders Doppio to get in range for King Crimson.
Polnareff makes himself known and orders the two to not move up the stairs. Being extremely cautious despite having seen Bucciarati defeat Secco, Polnareff demands to know who is accompanying him. Bruno explains that it is Trish, who became involved with the gang only days before but Polnareff then asks why Doppio has a girl's name. Diavolo manages to have Doppio deflect the question by pretending to be outraged, but then Polnareff asks if Trish is a Stand User only for Bruno to confirm it. Polnareff thus asks "Trish" to show her Stand and stay away from him, tipping Diavolo that he's dealing with an experienced fighter. When he sees the Arrow on Polnareff's lap, he finally understands that it is Polnareff.
The plot jumps back to 1986 in Egypt, where a young man who was working part-time for an excavation team discovered six Arrows. This unknown man then stole them and fled, selling them at a high price to Enya the Hag. Then in the 90s, Jotaro Kujo and Jean Pierre Polnareff began to investigate the Arrows. For his part, Polnareff followed the trail of the man up to Europe where crime had escalated since 1986, particularly the drug trade. However, Polnareff committed two mistakes during his investigation: first the gang had so much power they effectively cut off Polnareff from communicating with the exterior and secondly, he vastly underestimated the threat he was facing. When Diavolo and King Crimson came to him, he was effortlessly defeated. Slicing his head, taking of a chunk of his stomach and his left hand, King Crimson hurled Polnareff down a cliff. Diavolo thought him dead, until now.
Bruno and Polnareff suddenly notice that "Trish" has disappeared, shouting at Bucciarati, Polnareff recognizes the telltale sight of objects being suddenly displaced. At the same time, Giorno, Mista and Trish also recognize that time has been skipped. Polnareff tries to flee but he then sees Doppio ominously advancing up some stairs leading to him. As he declares that the events of this night will be a trial for him to stay at the top, Diavolo finally emerges out of Doppio and confronts Polnareff.
Diavolo demands to know what Polnareff is doing in Rome and what is his Arrow for. Polnareff refuses and bites his own finger, making it bleed. Getting impatient, Diavolo then rushes up the stairs to fight Polnareff and erases time. Noticing it, Polnareff immediately summons Silver Chariot and has it sweep the sword around him. However, Diavolo is only lightly cut as he's foreseen that his foe has had a trick up his sleeve. Praising Polnareff for his fighting spirit and ability, Diavolo erases time again as Polnareff tries to flee. He lets the blood from his cut fly into Polnareff's eye and prepares to deal the final blow, but he then sees that Silver Chariot has been pierced with the Arrow. Suddenly, Silver Chariot emits a strange light. King Crimson attempts to kill it, but Chariot then liquefied and flees far from Polnareff somehow, as the Frenchman attempts a last gamble to protect the Arrow.
King Crimson finishes Polnareff off and seizes the Arrow for himself. For his part, Polnareff finally expires as he reminisces the great adventure he's had with the Joestar Group. Jean Pierre Polnareff is dead. Confirming his death, Diavolo plans to use the Arrow after he's dealt with Team Bucciarati, whom he observes joining up with Bucciarati from his vantage point. Suddenly, Diavolo sees another presence: a strange person clad in black has appeared and is facing away. More importantly, this new person bears an Arrow-shaped mark.
