The full version of the song became available for download on October 13, 2018, followed by the release of the CD single on November 14, 2018. The CD included an English version of the song, an instrumental track, and was also made accessible on music streaming platforms.[2]
Opening animation
The opening begins with a pedestal shot of a stone statue striking a dramatic pose (reminiscent of Giorno Giovanna's pose on the Volume 62 cover), surrounded by a crimson scarf and a chain. Positioned behind its legs is a boulder in the form of Bruno Bucciarati. The scene then transitions to chains being pulled upward by an Arrow, accompanied by flashes of the letters "J", "O", and "JO", leading to the reveal of the title.
A bleeding hand is shown, with blood dripping onto the ground. Chains emerge from the puddles, encircling Giorno, who adopts a defensive stance but maintains a determined gaze. Rose petals pass by, turning him into a silhouette of himself. The scene shifts to Guido Mista running into the light. Surrounded by chains, he draws his revolver, ready to fire. He too turns into a silhouette as the camera zooms into the barrel. The rifling transforms into a spiral of chains, in the middle of which Trish Una helplessly falls, her expression apathetic. She fades into a silhouette before falling out of the frame when the chains shatter.
The scene then cuts to a stone head of Leone Abbacchio's former partner hitting the ground and crumbling into sand, which then flows into and out of Abbacchio's hands. Abbacchio is shown inside an hourglass (framed by a pattern from a specific Stand), with his feet sinking into the sand. The camera pans to the other side, revealing his silhouetted double, burdened by chains flowing upside-down from the hourglass's neck. The camera zooms into his hands before multiple chains shoot past, showing interposed shots of Narancia Ghirga framed within chain links under varying lighting, until his full silhouette is seen from behind, staring off with the wind blowing.
The next shot features a symmetrical view of Pannacotta Fugo, the screen split in a mirrored fashion. Fugo turns to face the camera, leaning back as his silhouetted face lunges forward. The scene transitions through a chain link to show Bucciarati walking resolutely amidst chains and a polygonal wall to his right. A small sun rotates behind his head, casting him in shadow and gradually turning his body into a silhouette. The silhouette then fades, revealing the members of Team Bucciarati summoning their Stands. A black and white shot follows, showing Giorno's bloodied hand tapping the chains, which then turn into green vines as the background shifts to stark white.
The gang members then perform a series of attacking animations: Giorno summons Gold Experience, which pummels the camera; Mista fires a bullet, which Sex Pistols kicks into a new direction; Abbacchio uses Moody Blues to rewind the scene, changing the background into a red tunnel resembling a gun's scope; Aerosmith performs a loop and fires bullets identical to Bucciarati's spoon-like symbols, hitting the camera before landing on Narancia's arms; Fugo summons Purple Haze, which smashes its fists together, releasing a cloud of its virus; and Bucciarati summons Sticky Fingers, which leaps from a zipper and pummels the camera.
Sticky Fingers opens a zipper, revealing a panning shot of a figure in a fetal position, draped in a cloth, surrounded by floating rose petals. The figure is revealed as Trish, now in alternate colors, who turns to face the light. The scene shifts to all the gang members staring firmly into the light, then following Bucciarati toward it. In the foreground, the vines revert to chains, with three of the six chains broken as the path to the light opens for the characters to walk upon. The opening concludes with a shot of Vento Aureo's symbol against the series' trademark checkered background.

- Lyricist Neko Oikawa and composer Toshiyuki Omori are best known for their previous work together on "A Cruel Angel's Thesis", the opening theme of Neon Genesis Evangelion; "Fighting Gold" is their first collaboration in 23 years.
- This is the only opening so far to not feature a variant with sound effects.
