Yare Yare Daze...
—Jotaro Kujo

Jotaro Kujo (空条 承太郎 , Kūjō Jōtarō) is the protagonist of Part III: Stardust Crusaders; appearing prominently in Part IV, and again in a key role in Part VI: Stone Ocean.

Serious, stoic and intelligent, Jotaro lends great power and stability to his allies.

Jotaro is the first JoJo introduced with a Stand, and among the most well-known characters of the series.

Appearance

Jotaro generally appears as a very tall (195 cm/6'5"), handsome and well-built man. He has dark hair of middling volume, a strong jaw; bold eyebrows, and light eyes. He also bears a mild resemblance to his great-great grandfather Jonathan Joestar and his grandfather Joseph Joestar when he was a young man.

The superficial theme of Jotaro's attire changes at each stage of his unique journey through four separate parts of the series. Ever present are a trademark visored, ornamented cap seemingly torn at the back, blending with his hair; and a long trench coat.

Stardust Crusaders

Jotaro wears a dark, modified Japanese school uniform. His outfit appears in various color combinations between illustrations,[1] but the most common scheme consists of a purple shirt and navy blue hat, coat and pants.

Jotaro's cap is adorned near the centre with a golden button; and a rectangular golden piece featuring a palm design (reminiscent of abhayamudra, later replicated elsewhere in JoJo media and as a trademark of Araki's) on his left. It also seems torn at the back, lacking a clear distinction as to where it ends and his hair begins.

Jotaro keeps a trenchcoat-length gakuran/tsume-eri with a tall, stiff collar; pierced on the left with a golden chain. Underneath he wears a fitted sleeveless shirt. He wears a pair of slim-fitting ¥20,000[2] pants that produce short, angular flares at the very bottom of his leg; over which he wears two slim belts, often differently colored, patterned in a row of alternately colored tesselated triangles (reflecting Caesar/Joeseph's headband). He wears a pair of dress shoes, seemingly without socks.

Diamond is Unbreakable

At 29 years of age, having obsoleted his uniform, during this arc Jotaro's outfit undergoes a few transitions. Each features his now-trademark combination of a visored cap, roughly circular and flat-topped (like a kepi), and a trenchcoat. He wears wide-legged pants, in a fashion shared with Josuke; and an overall light or white palette between hat, coat and pants.

For his first outfit, his undershirt is also light or white, and his hat supports golden emblems of a "J" in a row with his earlier palm, this time enclosed by a heart.

Later, he wears a turtle-necked, black undershirt, the collar of which is fronted by a square golden piece featuring his palm; while his hat includes a row of black venus symbols (♀) modified to include an arrow at the bottom of the cross, and an iteration of his golden palm resembling his original. He again wears two belts, this time black, while his cuffs, upturned, bear the triangular pattern formerly featured on his belts. He wears a small, open, lapelless waistcoat patterned by small, alternating circles and crosses.

Vento Aureo

Seen only in the first few chapters, Jotaro's outfit largely resembles that last seen in Part IV.

Stone Ocean

At 42, Jotaro's outfit now speaks of a higher fashion, with differently textured and patterned items and a broader color scheme. His golden collar chain is returned in a more delicate, curtailed form, and he keeps a single leather belt. His shirt, hat, shoulders, collar and cuffs all bear five-pointed stars. His footwear and pants are of a piece in a snakeskin texture.
