A place for me to test things I don't understand

T-This is... my body's moving on it's own...! There's no doubt about it! This has to be that Parrot's... stand attack!

The unnamed Parrot's Stand is the Stand of the Parrot, main antagonist of Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, a spinoff manga of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Appearance

The Parrot Stand's reels unfurling
The Parrot's Stand has the appearance of a mechanical bird, slightly larger than its user. The head is small, with it having tubes protruding out from it, and a large ridge along the top. While its central body is unseen, it appears to have a thin torso with several appendages. These arms have several circular joints which connect to several circular reels. These reels can unfurl into long thin strips, similar to a tape dispenser.

The Stand's legs are also fully mechanical in appearance, with them starting from the center of one of the reels. These legs have another reels attached at where a knee joint would be, and they connect to large mechanical talons (similar to that of a large predatory bird)[1]

Abilities

Punch cards flying out of Hol Horse from the Parrot Stand's attack
The Parrot's Stand, while still having an undefined ability, is a devastating long-range Stand.

Memory Punch Cards

The Parrot's Stan appears to use punched cards as its primary form of attack. These punched cards are released from the reels on the body of the Stand. They are then punched and inserted into the target, before bursting out of their body through the mouth, ears, and other holes. Their eyes also gain a dimpled texture, with multiple holes appearing in them.

These Punched Cards force the enemy to re-experience past events, such as when it was used on Hol Horse he began to relive his confrontation with Dio. These past events even force people to reenact the event, such as Hol Horse moving to shoot as he did in his confrontation with DIO.[2] This can even be done to those who have not lived through the said past event, as Hiraoka was forced to relive the experience of Wilson Phillips, which caused him to crash his car.[3]

Trivia

  • While no direct connection has been made, the eyes on the Parrot Stand's victims bear a striking resemblance to that of Moody Blues, another Stand that revolves around replaying past events.

This test is abut measuring your trustworthiness... using this lighter's flame! Take it, and don't let the flame die.
Polpo describing the lighter test to Giorno, Chapter 449: Meet the Gangster Behind the Wall, Part 2

Polpo's Lighter (弓と矢, Yumi to Ya) (more generally the Lighter (, Ya)) is a prominent item introduced in the fifth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Vento Aureo. The lighter acts as an important item in Passione, as the lighter and it's subsequent tests are related to how one is able to join the organization.

Some of the Arrows and their fragments influence the events of Stardust Crusaders, Vento Aureo, and Stone Ocean; in the latter two parts, the history and previous influence of the Arrows is detailed.[1]

History

The Lighter came into Polpo's possession at an undetermined time, though he most likely got the lighter around the time of becoming Capo, or when he gained his Stand Black Sabbath. The Lighter was used by Polpo for his test, if which completed would allow someone to join Passione. While most likely not the only way for someone to join Pasione, the Lighter and it's subsequent test were used to induct many people, including the entirety of Team Bucciarati.

Giorno's Initiation

Tasking Giorno with keeping his lighter lit
The Lighter is first seen in the series during Giorno's initation into Passione. After his battle with Bruno Bucciarati, Giorno is directed to the Naples Prison, where Polpo is being held. Giorno passes through the tight security and is instructed by the guard searching him not to accept anything from Polpo. Giorno thus enters the corridor leading to Polpo's cell instead of going to a visit room. After meeting Polpo and holding some minor discussions, Polpo asks Giorno what the most important quality in a person is. After Giorno gives his thoughts, Polpo begins to chew on his own fingers. However, his finger suddenly heal, and Polpo reveals the Lighter in question. Polpo gives Giorno the lit lighter and tells him to keep flame from going out for 24 hours in order to join the gang. To do so will prove that Giorno can be trusted with a task even if no one is watching him. After Giorno leaves Polpo with the lighter, he attempts to conceal the lighter from the gaurds as they check his body to see if he accepted any items. Initially burning his hand to hide the lighter while being patted down, he uses Gold Experience's ability to transform the lighter into a flower, with the flame hidden in the petal bud, when the prison guard makes him open his hands. The guard ultimately allows Giorno to leave with the unassuming flower.

After carefully bringing the Lighter back to his middle school, avoiding several students and staff along the way, Giorno places the lighter within a loaf of bread to keep it still. He surrounds the lighter with several books as well to secure the flame. However, Koichi manages to find Giorno's dorm and attempts to break in in order to get his passport back, forcing Giorno to hide outside the window. In an effort to keep Koichi from discovering and putting out the lighter, he transforms his ceiling light into a snake, which burns itself trying to grab the lighter. Luckily enough, Koichi actually finds his passport, allowing Giorno to swiftly steal the lighter and escape while he was distracted.

After his encounter with Koichi, Giorno brings the lighter out into his school courtyard, where the flame is accidentally put out by the janitor. As Giorno tries to figure out what to do, the janitor relights the lighter for him, causing him to notice the oddity of the test, as he beleives it is pointless to have a test of trust in which someone can relight the lighter without someone knowing. However, once the lighter is re-lit, the true nature of the lighter and it's test are revealed. Polpo's Stand Black Sabbath appears. It attacks the janitor for having re-lit the lighter, testing him by pulling his soul out of his body, and stabbing his soul with the Stand Arrow. As the janitor was unworthy of possessing a Stand, he perishes without injury. Afterwards, it turns it's attention to Giorno for having seen the lighter be re-lit, and a battle ensues between Giorno, Black Sabbath, and eventually Koichi.

After Giorno's victory and the defeat of Black Sabbath, Giorno returns to the prison with the lighter. After returning the relit lighter, Polpo accepts Giorno into Passione, wondering to himself if Giorno gained a Stand from Black Sabbath, but he beleives that no matter what he will be a good tool for Passione. After Polpo's murder by Giorno, the wherabouts of the lighter are not mentioned, and whether it still exists after the destruction of Black Sabbath is unknown.

Properties

Stand-Awakening Property

The Arrow's power awakening a Stand

The Arrows fashioned from the meteorite will catalyze and awaken the Stand of any living creature they pierce, given that the target has sufficient spiritual strength. If the target lacks sufficient spiritual strength, contact with the Arrow will prove fatal; on the other hand, the Arrows normally only seek out and pierce those who will live.

In certain cases, such as with Ken Oyanagi and Tama, the wound caused by the Arrow will heal and leave a hole about the size of an average coin.
