Chapter 116
Jotaro Kujo, Part 3 (空条承太郎 その③, Kūjō Jōtarō Sono 3), originally The Evil Spirit's Identity! (悪霊 その正体！, Akuryō Sono Shōtai!) in the WSJ release, is the third chapter of Stardust Crusaders and the one hundred sixteenth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga.
Summary
As Jotaro's "evil spirit" grabs Magician's Red by the neck, Jotaro asks his grandfather if he knows what the spirit is, to which Joseph replies that he does. To protect himself, Avdol unleashes a Red Bind, which pins Jotaro to the front of the cell by wrapping flames around his mouth and stomach.
At this moment, Jotaro's evil spirit fades away due to his inability to breathe. Joseph explains the true nature of the evil spirit is a powerful image created by his life force. Since the spirit stands beside its user, it's referred to as a Stand.
After being taunted by Avdol, Jotaro kicks the toilet to break it which puts out the fire. He then uses his Stand to rip out two bars from the prison entrance and attacks Avdol, but the latter turns away before he is able to strike. Jotaro stops his attack, confused, and Avdol explains that he had no intention to fight and had already succeeded at getting Jotaro out of the cell.
Now that Jotaro had no reason to stay in prison, he asks Joseph how he knew of the concept of a Stand. The old man shows a picture of a steel chest and explains that it was lost for a century, but he has discovered that it came from the ship where his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar, had died. Joseph reveals that he and Avdol are chasing the man who escaped from the chest, DIO, who awakened after a century of sleep. It is the destiny of the Joestar Family to fight him.
