Summary
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
In July 2012, Capcom announced a collaboration between Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Nintendo 3DS and the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series in the September 2012 issue of V Jump magazine.[1] The collaboration started on August 10, 2012 and included two free downloadable quests.[1] By completing these collaboration quests, players could unlock the "Crazy Diamond" hammer, which healed allies by attacking them, as well as a mask based on Harvest called the "Stand Mask" that could be equipped to the player's Shakalaka to constantly gain money. Players could also download a JoJo-themed Guild Card background and pose.[1]
The "Let's Go Hunting!" collaboration quest begun on August 10, 2012,[1] and would be given to the player by Shigekiyo Yangu. In the quest, players can obtain Kameyu Stamps needed to craft the "Stand Mask," a special mask based on Harvest that can only be equipped to either Cha-Cha and Kayamba. The quest requires players to hunt two normal and two subspecies of Kulu-Ya-Ku, and completing the quest rewards the player with a minimum of 13 Kameyu Stamps.
The "Obsidian is Unbreakable" collaboration quest began a week later on August 17, 2012,[1] and would be given to the player by a a young man with a pompadour. The quest requires players to hunt a single Brachydios, and is considered notoriously difficult among Japanese fans. By clearing the quest, the player can collect Unbreakable Diamonds, which can be used to craft the "Crazy Diamond" hammer. The hammer has one of the highest attack powers in the game, and has a unique effect that allows players to heal a small amount of damage to other players when they attack them, referencing Crazy Diamond's ability to heal things. Additionally, if you kill 50 Brachydios, you get the title "Pompadour", a reference to Josuke's hairstyle.
When these items were localized outside of Japan, they were re-skinned and renamed. The "Crazy Diamond" hammer was renamed to the "Majestic Scepter," and the "Stand Mask" was renamed to the "Cosmetic Mask."
Equippable Items
A mask that covers the face. It allows the wearer to slip into tight spaces unnoticed and collect foreign currencies. Only two people from the Shakalaka tribe can wear this mask simultaneously. It mainly focuses on small monsters with long-range attacks.
A splendid mask modeled after an ancient clay figure. Said to bring good luck, but that may only be a rumour. Wearers of this mask focus on small monsters with long-range attacks.
