Dio Brando (ディオ・ブランドー, Dio Burandō) was confirmed for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[1]
Although his moveset remains fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, a few tweaks have been made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay changes that All-Star Battle R brought along.
As the voice of Dio since the Phantom Blood anime, Takehito Koyasu reprises his role for All-Star Battle R. Like with the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Dio were either added or re-recorded.
Dio Brando has 800 health and uses the Vampirism (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style. During a fight, he can use several different attacks that were featured in Phantom Blood.
When Dio uses his Heart Heat Attack, Space Ripper Stingy Eyes, to K.O. Jonathan Joestar, Jonathan attempts to block the piercing attack with his hands, like he does at the end of Phantom Blood.[5]
The Situation Finish for the Dio's Castle stage recreates the scene in which Dio is sent flying off the castle's balcony by Jonathan in Phantom Blood.[6]
Giorno Giovanna's Heart Heat Attack against Jonathan mimicks the boxing match from Phantom Blood in which Dio sticks his thumb into Jonathan's eye.[7]
Like all vampires and Pillar Men in ASBR, Dio will burn up in the sunlight of the Situation Finish for the DIO's Mansion stage.
