Diego Brando (ディエゴ・ブランドー, Diego Burandō) was confirmed as a playable character alongside Robert E. O. Speedwagon, Mariah, and Pet Shop during the Street Date trailer.[1]
His moveset is similar to that of his Eyes of Heaven appearance, with modifications made and new aspects added to better fit him in with All-Star Battle R's different style of gameplay.
In the English version of All-Star Battle R, the name of Diego's Stand, Scary Monsters, is localized as "Frightening Monsters", the same name used in Eyes of Heaven.
As Diego's voice actor in Eyes of Heaven, Takehito Koyasu reprises his role in this game as well. As with the majority of the game's roster, voice lines for Diego were either added or re-recorded.
Diego has 920 health and uses the Mounted (騎乗, Kijō) Battle Style, which allows him to freely mount and dismount his horse, Silver Bullet, dynamically changing his moveset in the process. Unlike most other Stand users in the game, Diego uses his Stand, Scary Monsters, in a variety of attacks that either transform parts of his body into those of a dinosaur's or summon dinosaurs to attack his foes. His Heart Heat Attack allows him to fully transform into a dinosaur, gaining an entirely-new moveset for the duration of the transformation.
As a Steel Ball Run character, three parts of the Saint's Corpse will slowly appear on the ground as Diego fights. He can pick up these parts to receive progressively better blessings that can boost his performance in combat. If Diego battles Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, Parallel World Diego, Funny Valentine, or another Diego, both combatants will have to fight over the same three parts.
Diego preforms a crouching downwards chop that sweeps opponents, knocking them to the ground.

Diego fully transforms into his Utahraptor form, known as Dinosaur Form. The stock of Heart Heat spent becomes a draining timer, canceling the ability upon depleting. Upon deactivation of Dinosaur Form, Diego will quickly revert with a jump, changing back to human form in mid-air and leaving him vulnerable.
Dinosaur Diego gains a new set of normal attacks and skills, drastically improving his overall damage output and range. He gains passive Super Armor at all times and cannot be staggered, knocked down, or launched, allowing him to power through any attack. Most prominently, Diego becomes immune to most opposing HHA and GHA; Heat Attacks that only continue upon connecting with a first hit will simply fail against Dinosaur Diego, and he will bypass any counters and counter-type Heat Attacks and strike the opponent without triggering them.
However, Dinosaur Diego is unable to guard, taunt, Flash Cancel, Stylish Evade, or Stylish Guard, leaving him little in the way of defending himself from incoming damage, and he can still be KO'd. Interestingly, when struck by an HHA and GHA, Guard damage (damage that would have been dealt to Diego's Guard Gauge upon blocking) is converted and added to the incoming attack's normal damage. This means Heat Attacks that would deal higher Guard damage, such as Gyro's GHA, still deal significant damage to Dinosaur Diego even if they would technically 'fail'. HHA that continue executing without an initial hit will still deal full damage to him as well, assuming he cannot interrupt the attack.
As HHA can be universally canceled into from most attacks including skills, this gives Diego a means to extend combos by chaining into its activation, instantly canceling an attack not unlike a Flash Cancel and allowing him to continue his offense into Dinosaur Form.

Diego's theme is Hungry! (『飢えた者』！, "Uetamono"!), and can be unlocked in-game by calling 3 Assists in a single round as Johnny Joestar in All-Star Battle Mode's Johnny vs. Diego Normal Battle.
A primary antagonist in Part 7: Steel Ball Run. He is a participant in the race, and commonly goes by the nickname "Dio." The Dio of the base world dies in battle with Valentine, but Valentine later summons a version of Dio from another world. This Dio beats Johnny, but is annihilated when Lucy gives him the corpse of the base world's Dio.
A Steel Ball Run competitor known simply as "Dio." The original Dio of this world dies in battle with Valentine, but the parallel Dio takes his place. He beats Johnny, but is destroyed when Lucy shows him the corpse of this world's Dio.
Diego Brando's Stand. It can turn any organism into a dinosaur, including the user. This ability was originally wielded by Dr. Ferdinand, but Diego gained the Stand through the power of the Corpse.

Expanded the hitbox upward for the last hit.
Increased the pushback when the final hit of the attack hits an aerial opponent.

When the attack is guarded, Diego will now be put into a vulnerable animation for the aerial and Mounted versions.
Reduced the distance Diego will travel when performing the grounded (Dismounted) version.
Trivia
Like most of the new ASBR characters that made their first playable appearance in Eyes of Heaven, Diego's model and color scheme are taken from his Eyes of Heaven counterpart. However, his render is now the one once used by his parallel world self.
