All-Star Battle R ★ Parallel World Diego
Parallel World Diego (並行世界から来たディエゴ, Heikō Sekai kara Kita Diego), along with THE WORLD, was confirmed for All-Star Battle R as the fourth paid DLC character on May 31, 2023.[1] He released on June 16, 2023; June 14 for season pass owners.[2] Like the first three paid DLC characters, he is included in the game's first season pass, and consequently the Digital Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition as well.[1]
In the English version of All-Star Battle R, Parallel Diego's name is localized as "Diego Brando (THE WORLD)". Furthermore, THE WORLD's name is fully capitalized, differentiating it from DIO's version of The World.
His moveset is similar to that of his Eyes of Heaven appearance, with modifications made and new aspects added to better fit in with All-Star Battle R's different gameplay style.
As the voice actor for Parallel World Diego in Eyes of Heaven, Takehito Koyasu reprises his role in this game as well. As with the majority of the game's roster, voice lines for Parallel World Diego were either added or re-recorded.
Gameplay
Parallel World Diego has 920 health and uses the Mounted (騎乗, Kijō) Battle Style, which allows him to freely mount and dismount his horse, Parallel World Silver Bullet, dynamically changing his moveset in the process. Unlike most other Stand users in the game, Parallel World Diego cannot manually summon or dismiss his Stand, THE WORLD; instead, the Stand remains active as long as the user is dismounted, and appears instantaneously for any attacks that utilize it while the user is mounted.
As a Steel Ball Run character, three parts of the Saint's Corpse will slowly appear on the ground as Parallel World Diego fights. He can pick up these parts to receive progressively better blessings that can boost his performance in combat. If Parallel World Diego battles Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, Diego Brando, Funny Valentine, or another Parallel World Diego, both combatants will have to fight over the same three parts.

If the Style input () is chained from normals while unmounted, 'Quick Mount' is triggered at the cost of Heart Heat, whereby Parallel World Diego mounts Silver Bullet much faster, and the act of flipping onto his horse can knock the opponent into the air. This provides an easy and quicker method of mounting as well as transitioning Diego's unmounted combo into a mounted one.
All animations, including the HHG flame and the countdown on the battle timer, will temporarily cease, and the opponent is frozen in place and completely unable to act. Damage dealt to the opponent that is not a Throw or HHA is reduced, but the opponent is otherwise absolutely vulnerable. When the ability ends and time resumes, the opponent will suffer all damage dealt to them at once.
Any projectiles unleashed through Parallel World Diego's various abilities will hang in the air (knives thrown via "I'll skewer you!", the jerrycan tossed via "My trial is to conquer and kill at all costs.", and the lit matches thrown via "This is where the fun begins..."), notably doing more damage if they hit the opponent after time resumes than if they were to have connected immediately. Parallel World Diego may use his HHA with impunity if he has enough Heart Heat to do so. He is even capable of hitting opponents that were down when the ability was activated, 'resetting' them into a standing position once hit. The ability is best used with normal attacks in mind in order to deal the most damage within the stopped time, as they execute quickly and their damage reduction within stopped time is insubstantial.
If Parallel World Diego's Throw or HHA is used, time will immediately resume with the HHG drained to zero. As his GHA requires Silver Bullet, it is unavailable in stopped time.
If fighting against Jotaro Kujo, DIO, Jotaro Kujo (Part 4), or himself, Parallel World Diego can use this ability to begin moving within the opposing fighter's stopped time, and may even outlast his opponent if their Heart Heat depletes before his.
THE WORLD slowly delivers an overhead chop that leaves the opponent crumpling, striking as a middle attack that cannot be blocked crouching. This is a command normal that can chain into Parallel World Diego's skills. (Comboable)

- Parallel World Diego's movement speed while Unmounted is increased.
- Parallel World Diego may have two Gasoline puddles active at once via "My trial is to conquer and kill at all costs."
- The rate at which Parallel World Diego's Guard Gauge regenerates is increased, and he may also regenerate Guard Gauge while Mounted.
This skill is special-cancelable, allowing Parallel World Diego to chain into other skills. This also includes into itself, granting the ability to continuously throw knives at a rapid rate.
Attack type: High
Damage: 30
Startup frames: 23 / 25 / 29
Parallel World Diego tosses an open jerrycan of gasoline into the air in an arc. Upon the jerrycan reaching the peak of its arc, the gasoline is spilled onto the floor directly below, where it is left as a puddle for a period of time.
The action of tossing the jerrycan is a melee strike that can knock the opponent into the air into a hard knockdown. The jerrycan itself can collide directly with the opponent for a small amount of damage, allowing the skill to double as an anti-air attack. The attack button inputted determines how far the jerrycan is lobbed. (Flash Cancel comboable)
Should the opponent be caught in the gasoline spillage or touch the puddle, including when they are downed, they are then doused in it or inflicted with Gasoline. This is indicated by the brownish liquid splashing off their body and an icon under their character portrait. However, if Parallel World Diego is attacked by them, any gasoline puddles and the Gasoline effect will be instantly nullified. The gasoline itself may also be 'blocked', preventing affliction.
Attack type: High
Damage: 15 (melee) + 40 (jerrycan)
Startup frames: 19 / 21 / 25
If the opponent is afflicted with Gasoline, they will violently explode upon contact with the matches. If caught in the blast directly, they take heavy damage and are launched high into the air, even if they were downed when the matches hit them (Comboable). If the explosion is guarded, it will inflict an extreme amount of Guard Gauge damage equal to roughly 80% of the whole gauge, making this one of the highest Guard-damaging attacks in the game that aren't an instant Guardbreak. However, Parallel World Diego may also be caught in the gasoline explosion if he is too close, causing him to flinch while taking a moderate amount of damage.
To note, only this skill will cause a Gasolined opponent to explode. Other fire-based sources such as various Assault Assists or certain characters' own self-inflicted damage will not trigger the explosion nor interact with the Gasoline effect in any way.
Attack type: High
Damage: 45 (max) / 55 (max) / 75 (max) / 120 (Gasoline explosion)
Startup frames: 17 / 19 / 21
Only one barb wire trap may be active at a time, automatically disarming the previous one if the skill is performed again. However, if "THE WORLD!" is active, a second barb wire trap cannot be set while the first one is active.

This provides an easy and quicker method of mounting as well as transitioning Diego's unmounted combo into a mounted one.
Expending a stock of Heart Heat, Parallel World Diego and Silver Bullet fortify themselves, indicated by a reddish aura emanating from the horse. While active, Silver Bullet's movement speed is increased, and Parallel World Diego gains a Super Armor effect for all of his Mounted normal attacks starting from activation to the end of their active portions. However, Parallel World Diego cannot generate Heart Heat normally while this power is in effect.
This ability will deactivate upon Parallel World Diego being Dismounted (either manually or by the opponent's attacks), initiating his HHA or GHA, or if it is inputted a second time, signified by him petting Silver Bullet to calm it down. Otherwise, it will last indefinitely.
This skill is special-cancelable, allowing Parallel World Diego to chain into other skills. This also includes into itself, granting the ability to continuously throw knives at a rapid rate.

- Medium (): He reappears directly above the opponent in a descending slash to knock them down, hard enough for them to bounce. This variation is a middle attack that cannot be blocked crouching. (Comboable)
- Heavy (): The skill instead becomes a feint, with Parallel World Diego flashing but not actually moving from his spot atop Silver Bullet, and able to act instantly.
Attack type: Low / Middle

Startup frames: 33 / 29 / 18
Observing the opponent for an opening, Parallel World Diego sends THE WORLD out to deliver an uppercut. If the punch connects, the opponent is sent flying into the air as Parallel World Diego stops time. He proceeds to take out a handful of knives and throw them in tandem with his Stand. The knives, totaling exactly 48, are subsequently suspended in mid-air, surrounding the opponent. Parallel World Diego promptly resumes time and lets the knives strike their target while he watches.
Attack type: High
Damage: 177
Reloading the now-live bullet and lifting the revolver up to eye level, Parallel World Diego carefully takes aim at the opponent's neck. He finally resumes time, allowing the shot to discharge as THE WORLD throws a devastating punch aimed at the opponent's face. A slow-motion shot of the opponent's shocked expression is shown, and the two attacks connect at the same time, completing the assault and blasting them away.

Commemorative Giveaway
In commemoration of the release of Parallel World Diego as the 4th paid DLC character for ASBR, the Japanese ASBR Twitter account hosted a giveaway of 20 sets of 3 ASBR Steel Ball Run badges,[5] although only to be delivered to addresses in Japan.[6] The badges in question contained the ASBR render images of Gyro Zeppeli, Parallel World Diego, and Johnny Joestar respectively.
The campaign started on June 16, 2023, and lasted until July 2 at 11:59pm JST. To enter the giveaway lottery, users only had to:
- Follow the @jojo_games_jp Twitter account.
- Retweet the tweet that announced the giveaway.
However, Twitter accounts set to private were ineligible for the giveaway. Unfollowing the ASBR Twitter account before the end of the giveaway also deemed users ineligible. Furthermore, attempting to join the giveaway with multiple accounts disqualified all of the associated accounts from the giveaway.[6]
The giveaway was directly implemented by Bandai Namco themselves, with no third-party involvement, and the winners of the giveaway were notified via Twitter DMs. Said winners were announced sometime towards the end of July 2023. The gifts were delivered in mid-August 2023.[6]

- "This is where the fun begins..." skill
- Fixed a bug where the next round would not start if certain characters were KOed by any of the hits after the first one, softlocking the game.

- Throw
- Shortened the startup animation for both forward and back throw to match with other characters.

Trivia
- Although Parallel World Diego made his playable debut in Eyes of Heaven, his render for All-Star Battle R is not the same as his from that game, unlike many other EoH debut characters. Instead, his EoH render is given to the other Diego Brando, and Parallel Diego is given an entirely new one instead.
