Josuke Higashikata (東方 仗助, Higashikata Jōsuke), referred to in the game's localization as "Josuke Higashikata 4", was confirmed for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[1] He was 1 of 15 playable characters during the EVO 2022 Demo on August 5.[3]
His moveset is fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay changes that All-Star Battle R brought.
In the English localization of the game, the name of Josuke's Stand, Crazy Diamond, is localized as "Shining Diamond", the same name used in the original All-Star Battle.
Yuki Ono reprises his role as Josuke's voice actor from the Diamond is Unbreakable anime, replacing Wataru Hatano. As with the majority of the game's roster, voice lines for Josuke were either added or re-recorded.
Josuke has 1000 health and uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, which allows him to freely summon and withdraw his Stand Crazy Diamond, dynamically changing his moveset in the process.
Switches between User Mode and Stand Mode. Switching modes changes the skills Josuke is able to use.

A counter attack in which Josuke stops to fix his hairstyle. Only usable if you have at least 1 bar of HH Gauge, and consumes 1 bar if the counter is successful. If an opponent's non-HHA/GHA hits while this is in effect, Josuke will enter "Watch Your Mouth!" Mode. While in this mode, Josuke will continue to advance toward the opponent and be unable to move or crouch outside of forward jumps and charges. However, the opponent's attacks will not knock Josuke back and normal attacks can be combined into Chain Beats regardless of sequence.

Heavy (): The finishing blow is a low attack, Crazy Diamond sweeps the opponent with its arm and launches them in the air. This variant cannot combo off a grounded hit but can if used on an opponent that is being juggled. This means that if the opponent is holding after getting hit by the initial barrage when not in a combo, they can block the finishing blow.

Crazy Diamond destroys the ground with a barrage of punches. If it hits a standing opponent, they will be knocked to the ground. Using "DORA!" again before the ground is restored will destroy another spot of ground, and the ground destroyed previously will be returned to normal. Can be used to inflict an additional attack on a downed opponent.

Josuke's theme is Hearts of Gold (黄金の精神, Ōgon no Seishin), and can be unlocked in-game by landing a Heart Heat Attack in All-Star Battle Mode's Josuke vs. Kosaku Kawajiri Boss Battle.
The protagonist of Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable. He is the user of the StandCrazy Diamond, and is the bastard son of Joseph Joestar. He has a gentle personality, but whenever his hairstyle is insulted, he becomes enraged and goes on a rampage. In the final battle, he fights Yoshikage Kira, who is disguised as Kosaku Kawajiri, and succeeds in cornering his opponent.[6]
User of the Stand Shining Diamond and the secret son of Joseph Joestar. A punk with a gentle streak, except when someone insults his hair. In the end he battles Yoshikage Kira posing as Kosaku Kawajiri, successfully overpowering him.
The Stand of Josuke Higashikata. It has the ability to restore broken objects and heal wounds by touch, and is a close-range power type that boasts exceptional speed. When Josuke becomes enraged due to someone mocking his haircut, the Stand becomes even stronger.
Josuke Higashikata 4's Stand, capable of healing wounds and fixing damaged objects. It is a close-quarters powerhouse of exceptional speed. Josuke becomes enraged whenever someone mocks his haircut, giving his Stand even greater power.
In commemoration of the release of Keicho Nijimura as the 3rd paid DLC character for ASBR, the Japanese ASBR Twitter account hosted a giveaway of 20 sets of 3 ASBR Diamond is Unbreakable badges,[7] although only to be delivered to addresses in Japan.[8] The badges in question contained the ASBR render images of Okuyasu Nijimura, Keicho, and Josuke Higashikata respectively.
The campaign started on March 24, 2022, and lasted until April 9 at 11:59pm JST. To enter the giveaway lottery, users only had to:
However, Twitter accounts set to private were ineligible for the giveaway. Unfollowing the ASBR Twitter account before the end of the giveaway also deemed users ineligible. Furthermore, attempting to join the giveaway with multiple accounts disqualified all of the associated accounts from the giveaway.[8]
The giveaway was directly implemented by Bandai Namco themselves, with no third-party involvement, and the winners of the giveaway were notified via Twitter DMs. Said winners were announced sometime towards the end of April 2023. The gifts were delivered in mid-May 2023.[8]

Josuke now moves more during the startup of the attack, but stops moving when the hitbox spawns. This results in the attack having more range overall, but less movement for the animation.

"Watch Your Mouth!" skill
Fixed a bug where Josuke could activate this skill when he had less than one stock of Heart Heat under certain conditions.
Fixed a bug where if the counter was triggered while Josuke had less than one stock of Heart Heat, the opponent would become unable to act.
Fixed a bug where a Throw could be connected if Josuke used "Break through, beat you up!" right as this mode ended and then inputted the Throw as the last hit of the skill connected.
Fixed a bug where in certain circumstances, an opponent's attacks would repeatedly trigger the "Watch Your Mouth!" counter if they hit Josuke while the mode was active.
Fixed a bug where the finishing animation would play in the air if Josuke jumped right as the mode ended.
Fixed a bug where if Rush Mode was activated while this mode was active, Josuke would become unable to act.

Changed the final portion into a two-hit attack with the pushback being larger on the first hit. This helps improve guard pressure without the use of Heart Heat.
