Personality

Jack attacks a woman

Above all else, Jack the Ripper detests women who are enjoying themselves. As such, he takes immense pleasure in his murders of unarmed victims, cutting out their organs with a scalpel and hanging them on nearby walls. However, Jack is also meticulous in his actions, using a gentlemanly facade to seduce his victims until he can safely perform the deed. Unexpected hinderances have been shown to unsettle the killer, and his murderous tendencies can easily be turned toward witnesses to his heinous actions if need be, as seen when he attempts to kill Dio Brando.[2]

As a zombie, Jack's already-disturbed personality becomes even crueler. Rather than murder itself, the zombified Jack now takes pride in his victims' fear and despair, to the extent that he is willing to harm himself without hesitation to invoke it. Jack's instrument of choice remains the scalpel, though he is quick to improvise with other sharp weapons. He also retains his former cunning, and is capable of using his surroundings to isolate and terrify his victims.[3] Even after being seriously injured by Will Anthonio Zeppeli's Ripple energy, his outburst of anger does not prevent him from devising a plan to further separate his victims.[4] At Dio's command, however, Jack is capable of restraining his violent desires long enough to provide his master with fresh blood.[5]

Abilities

After being turned into a zombie, Jack becomes even more brutal than he was as a human. The zombified Jack is not only unable to feel pain, but also has incredible speed: he is shown to be able to kill a man, decapitate two horses, and hide inside the body of one horse in a matter of seconds.

Jack uses his immunity to pain to his advantage by inserting sub-dermal scalpels into his body. Once the scalpels are buried in his body, Jack is able to expel them via muscle contraction, shooting the knives over great distances with pinpoint accuracy.
Medieval PincerLink to this section

While hiding in a secret labyrinth, Jack comes across and modifies a medieval torture device. With his strength as a zombie, Jack uses this modified device as a pincer, using its spikes to tear foes and even solid pillars apart.

History

Phantom Blood

After killing his final victim as a human, Jack was approached by a then-incapacitated Dio Brando who saw the evil in the man's heart and decides to make him one of his zombie minions. Refusing at first, Jack accepted after a failed attempt to kill Dio.[2] (In the anime, Dio instead hypnotizes Jack to come forward so that the former could suck his blood to turn him into a loyal zombie servant.)

Later, he corners Jonathan Joestar, Robert E. O. Speedwagon and Will Anthonio Zeppeli in a tunnel on their way to Windknight's Lot, decapitating their coachman along with the horses as he hid in one of them. Once revealing himself, Jack proceeded to throw the coach wagon into the mouth of the tunnel to prevent Jonathan and his companions from escaping. Zeppeli, fighting Jack to prove a point about Ripple energy and courage, manages to wound the zombie as he escapes into a labyrinth hidden in the tunnel, intending to attack from the darkness. Zeppeli gives Jonathan the task to finish off Jack as his final test, giving the youth a wine glass to pinpoint Jack's location on the other side of a wall. In the dark tunnels, Jack acquires a giant pincer with which he intends to cut Jonathan. His first attack failed and Jonathan is forced to abandon his torch. JoJo finally understands that the glass of wine acts as a detector and eliminates Jack with a huge Overdrive, surging through the brick wall and melting Jack.
