Pannacotta Fugo (パンナコッタ・フーゴ, Pannakotta Fūgo) was confirmed to return for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer, this time as part of the base roster.

His moveset is fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, although with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay changes that All-Star Battle R brought.

In the English version of All-Star Battle R, the name of Fugo's Stand, Purple Haze, is localized as "Purple Smoke", the same name used in the original All-Star Battle.

Junya Enoki reprises his role from the Golden Wind anime, replacing Hisafumi Oda as Fugo and Hisao Egawa as Purple Haze. As with the majority of the game's roster, voice lines for Fugo were either added or re-recorded.

Gameplay

Fugo has 900 health and uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, which allows him to freely summon and withdraw his Stand Purple Haze, dynamically changing his moveset in the process.

When in Resolve Mode, Fugo can evolve Purple Haze into Purple Haze Distortion without needing to spend Heart Heat executing his GHA. He calls out for Distortion as he grits his teeth and Purple Haze suddenly transforms. Distortion is permanent and will remain with Fugo for the rest of the match.
Appearance-wise, Purple Haze Distortion loses its purple irides, back spikes, cape, codpiece, knee and elbow pads, and boots.
As Distortion, the performance of Fugo's skills is enhanced, primarily in Stand Mode. He also takes greatly reduced damage from the Homicidal Virus, while his opponent inversely takes much more total damage at a faster rate. Fugo's Capsules are completely reloaded upon evolving his Stand into Distortion.
This move can be used as a unique cancel exclusive to Fugo.

Homicidal Virus (殺人ウイルス)

Passive

An unblockable purple cloud that inflicts gradual damage over time for a set period, with a character's health gauge turning a purple color to signify the infection. Fugo will also suffer from its effects if he comes into contact with the cloud. It is summoned when one of Purple Haze's six Capsules are broken or Fugo uses his HHA.

Capsule Icon (カプセルアイコン)

Passive

Exclusive to Fugo are six icons that display how many of Purple Haze's Capsules are available. Certain attacks will release Purple Haze's Homicidal Virus and change one of these icons, indicating that a Capsule has been used. The Capsules may only be reloaded after Fugo activates Purple Haze Distortion, uses his HHA or GHA, or at the start of a new round.

Resolve Mode (覚悟モード)

Activates below 20% health

This mode is automatically activated once Fugo falls below 20% health. It increases his attack power, as well as the rate at which the Heart Heat Gauge rises. He also gains armor during the start up of all his normal attacks and skills.

If it connects, he follows up by grabbing the opponent by the neck with his other hand and slamming them into the ground hard enough for them to bounce, leaving them in a hard knockdown state directly in front him. The speed of the attack increases in order, although this also increases the vulnerability.

The distance Purple Haze travels increases in order, although this also increases vulnerability.
With Purple Haze Distortion, the number of punches delivered nearly doubles and total damage dealt is increased. The skill's start up also gains Super Armor.

Purple Haze flies out in a tempestuous flurry of punches, before delivering a final straight punch that breaks open a Capsule and releases the Homicidal Virus. Fugo himself states that Purple Haze attacks like it's about to explode, and retreats like a storm.
This HHA will restore up to 3 Capsules on activation (the Capsule broken during the attack itself is not consumed).

Resolute Eyes (覚悟している眼)

Facing away from his opponent, Fugo claims that he's made a decision worth betting everything on before turning around and revealing a Capsule between his teeth. He forcefully bites down to crush the Capsule and blows the Homicidal Virus cloud forward.
If they are hit, the opponent will cover their face and scream in agony as they begin rapidly melting from the Virus, with a camera shot of their skin breaking down and dissolving being shown. Purple Haze Distortion, releasing all of its rage, begins to violently beat them, spreading the Virus into their system even more. The Stand finishes the attack by unleashing a spinning punch that sends the opponent flying as they're completely eradicated.
If Purple Haze has not already evolved into Purple Haze Distortion, executing this GHA will automatically do so, regardless if the attack successfully connects or not. This GHA also completely reloads Fugo's Capsules.

Of note is that Fugo's use of a Capsule between his teeth to unleash the viral attack references his first demonstration of Distortion's power during his final battle against Massimo Volpe in Purple Haze Feedback, while Distortion's violent follow-up assault is in reference to the battle with Illuso at the same time.
Along with Funny Valentine's GHA, Fugo's is the only special move to alter the contrast of the screen, resulting in a more black and white combination of colors to add more intensity to the special and obscure the sight of his opponent dissolving.

Purple Haze's barrage is shorter for all variants, though it is most noticeable with the variant. To go along with this, the number of hits increases by two between variants instead of only one. However, when Purple Haze has been evolved into Purple Haze Distortion, the number of hits is the same as they were in All-Star Battle for all variants except the variant, where it has one less. The Stand also moves a distance forward that increases as the strength of the attack button inputted does instead of staying in the same position for all variants. The angle opponents are launched is different as well, with them being launched higher into the air and a shorter distance away.

This attack is now a command Throw instead of being a hit grab. As such, it can no longer be blocked as it is classified as a Throw instead of a High. The damage has also increased significantly. Furthermore, while Purple Haze Distortion is active, this grab has Super Armor during its startup now.

Additionally, the translation of this HHA's name has been extended. Previously it was "Attack like an explosion..." in place of "Attack like an explosion... and retreat like a storm!".

Fugo's theme is Real Trust (真実の信頼, Shinjitsu o Miteiru Me), and can be unlocked in-game by using the "Purple Haze Distortion" special in All-Star Battle Mode's Fugo vs. Narancia Ghirga Normal Battle.

Its name is taken from Fugo's inner thoughts regarding Giorno after he cures himself of Purple Haze's virus in Chapter 46 of Vento Aureo.
