Muhammad Avdol (モハメド・アヴドゥル, Mohamedo Avuduru) was confirmed to return for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[1]

His moveset is fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, although with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay tweaks that All-Star Battle R brought.

The English localization of the game has Avdol's name as "Mohammad Avdol", carried on from its All-Star Battle debut.

Replacing Masashi Ebara, Kenta Miyake reprises his role as Avdol's voice actor from the Stardust Crusaders anime adaptation. As with the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Avdol were either added or re-recorded.

Gameplay

Avdol has 1000 health and uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, fighting foes with Magician's Red. During a fight, he can use several different attacks that were featured in Stardust Crusaders.

A small flame will appear on the floor a set distance away until the attack button is released, at which point a massive ankh-shaped explosion bursts from the ground, heavily damaging the opponent and knocking them into the air. The distance away from Avdol that Crossfire Hurricane Variation will erupt depends on the input, increasing in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order. (Comboable)

This move is also useful as a reversal and anti-air.

Magician's Red casts a Life Detector, a special flaming projectile that very slowly homes in on the opponent. The speed the projectile travels increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order, although the homing effectiveness decreases. If Avdol is hit while the projectile is out, it will disappear. A Stand Rush skill that Avdol can disconnect from to attack the opponent while it is executing. (Comboable)
This projectile is one of the few in the game that can hit Risotto Nero while he is invisible.

If the ASBM.png varient is inputted, the final second hit will knock the opponent into the air. If the ASBH.png variant is inputted, the final third hit will send the opponent flying. If they happen to hit a wall, they will bounce off of it. A Stand Rush skill that Avdol can disconnect from to attack the opponent while it is executing. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Magician's Red charges its fist. After a short delay, it punches downward in a powerful single attack, knocking the opponent into the air. The damage and height the opponent is knocked into the air increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order, although this also increases vulnerability. This move has a guard-point effect, allowing Magician's Red to absorb a single strike aside from Throws/cinematic HHAs/GHAs; Any form of single-hitting attack against it will be met with the premature release of the attack. A Stand Rush skill that Avdol can disconnect from to attack the opponent while it is executing. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Avdol sends Magician's Red forward in a flying kick as he warns of its unforgiving nature. Should the opponent be hit, Magician's Red will move behind them and use Red Bind to stun them, then stomp them into the ground. The Stand will then lift them up by the neck, and Avdol will waggle his finger before facing away from the scene to exclaim "YES I AM!" as Magician's Red explodes their binding.

Crossfire Hurricane Special

Avdol conjures a spinning ring of small Crossfire Hurricane projectiles around himself that expand outward. If they strike, the opponent will be knocked into the air. Avdol then unleashes the volley of projectiles on them, relentlessly pelting them and knocking them higher into the air. Meanwhile, Magician's Red will charge up and increase the intensity of the attack, before finally blowing the opponent up with a gigantic Crossfire Hurricane Variation erupting from the ground (much like how Avdol defeated Polnareff the first time they met).

Assist System (アシストシステム)
Assault Assist (アサルトアシスト, Asaruto Ashisuto)
ON GROUND
A two-stock assist. Avdol lands in and summons Magician's Red to charge its fist before striking out, launching the opponent into the air before withdrawing his stand, striking a pose, and jumping back off-screen. If the enemy hits Avdol or Magician's Red while he's charging, a single attack will be guarded against and Magician's Red will charge faster and strike out sooner.

Reversal Assist (リバーサルアシスト, Ribāsaru Ashisuto)
ON GROUND
A one-stock assist. Avdol jumps into the enemy, hitting them with Magician's Red and knocking them back. He then withdraws his Stand and poses before jumping back off-screen.

This attack now summons Magician's Red to kick outward instead of only having Avdol chop at a downward angle, giving this normal significantly more range. However, the animation is not new as it is shared by Avdol's Stand Off Jumping Medium Attack.
Crouching Heavy Attack

Magician's Red does not move as far forward while attacking, giving this normal slightly less range.
Jumping Light Attack

The size of the hitbox has been increased, making it easier to hit aerial opponents that are above Avdol.
Jumping Heavy Attack

Magician's Red no longer moves forward while attacking before moving back to where it originally appeared during its recovery. It instead appears forward, where it used to move to in All-Star Battle, and attacks from there, resulting in this attack having effectively the same range with a different visual. It also causes a groundbounce on hit now.

The ankh projectile travels faster than it did in All-Star Battle. It will also disappear if Avdol takes damage now. Additionally, the damage now increases as the strength of the attack button does instead of staying the same across variants.
Crossfire Hurricane Variation

The input for this skill has changed. Previously it was ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png in place of ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad2.png. The ankh that erupts from the ground will now erupt even if Avdol Flash Cancels the skill or the initial ankh projectile hits the opponent.

The input for this skill has changed. Previously it was ASBDPad4.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png in place of ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png. Only the ASBH.png variant binds the opponent now, with the other two causing a hard knockdown instead. The damage is also greater now and increases as the strength of the attack button does. The attack's range also increases slightly with the strength of the attack button. Furthermore, the attack now hits three times instead of only once.

The recovery on this attack has been greatly reduced, resulting in Magician's Red's recovery animation being much faster than it was in All-Star Battle.
Standing Heavy Attack
ASBH.png ON GROUND
Magician's Red now moves forward before attacking giving this normal more range. To account for the difference in position once the attack finishes, Magician's Red quickly shifts back to its original position during the recovery animation. This attack also no longer activates counters and hits four times instead of three.
Crouching Medium Attack
ASBDPad2.png + ASBM.png ON GROUND
While attacking, Magician's Red now moves forward slightly, giving this attack slightly more range.
Standing Heavy Attack
ASBH.png ON GROUND
If this normal is used to cancel a Stand On Crouching Medium Attack, Magician's Red will not move back to its original position before attacking, granting this attack more range than it had in All-Star Battle. However, when activated in any other circumstance, the range remains comparable.
Jumping Light Attack
ASBL.png IN AIR OK
The hitbox has been extended downwards, allowing this attack to now hit grounded opponents if timed correctly.
Jumping Heavy Attack
ASBH.png IN AIR OK
The hit animation has been fixed so Magician's Red will pause in his animation instead of the attack returning to the beginning of its animation briefly before continuing from where it stopped after the hitstop effect ends.

The number of hits has been decreased by two for all variants of the skill. This results in the damage being different for all three variants, with the ASBL.png variant being significantly less while the ASBH.png variant is significantly greater. The ASBM.png variant is slightly less, but relatively comparable. The ASBM.png and ASBH.png variants have also lost their ability to be Flash Canceled, while the ASBL.png variant has lost its invulnerability on startup.
Flame Detector
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND
The ASBL.png and ASBM.png variants' projectiles are now slower but travel a greater distance. The projectile will also disappear if Avdol takes damage now. Additionally, the translation for this skill has changed slightly. Previously it was "Flaming Detector" in place of "Flame Detector".
HELL 2 U!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND
Magician's Red moves farther out while attacking for all variants. Because of this and the fact that the duration of the skill remains the same, this results in Magician's Red teleporting back to Avdol when using the ASBM.png variant rather than sliding back like it does with the other variants. The ASBM.png now launches the opponent while the ASBH.png variant now launches the opponent farther away than it did in All-Star Battle into a hard knockdown instead of a soft knockdown. It can also now cause a wallbounce if the opponent hits a wall after being launched away. The damage for all variants is also greater. Furthermore, the first strike of the assault now only hits once instead of twice.

The startup of the ASBL.png variant has decreased while the recovery of the ASBH.png variant has increased, affecting their animations accordingly. The height the opponent is launched and the damage dealt increases as the strength of the attack button inputted does instead of staying the same across variants. Furthermore, the point at which the ASBL.png can be Flash Cancel is now earlier, making it easier to combo off of.

Heart Heat Attack / Great Heat Attack (HHA / GHA)

The camera behavior after the HHA finishes is different. Instead of being a slow pan that zooms out as it moves, it quickly zooms out as the camera view moves upward then straight down. This helps with the feel of the HHA's recovery as it feels much faster now despite being unchanged. The translation for the name of this HHA has also changed slightly. Previously it was "Gimmie four wishes instead!" in place of "Give me four wishes instead!".

Special Interactions

Dialogue

Outside of All-Star Battle Mode, Avdol has unique interaction dialogue for both his match entrances and victories when facing certain characters.

Avdol's theme is ASBR Music.png HELL 2 U! (HELL 2U!, Heru Tū Yū!), and can be unlocked in-game by landing the "Crossfire Hurricane" skill in All-Star Battle Mode's Avdol vs Mariah Normal Battle.

Its name is in reference to Avdol saying the exact line "Hell 2 U!" to Cameo in Chapter 65 of Stardust Crusaders as a parody of Cameo's own "Hail 2 U!" line.
