A place for me to test things I don't understand

T-This is... my body's moving on it's own...! There's no doubt about it! This has to be that Parrot's... stand attack!

The unnamed Parrot's Stand is the Stand of the Parrot, main antagonist of Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, a spinoff manga of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Appearance

The Parrot Stand's reels unfurling
The Parrot's Stand has the appearance of a mechanical bird, slightly larger than its user. The head is small, with it having tubes protruding out from it, and a large ridge along the top. While its central body is unseen, it appears to have a thin torso with several appendages. These arms have several circular joints which connect to several circular reels. These reels can unfurl into long thin strips, similar to a tape dispenser.

The Stand's legs are also fully mechanical in appearance, with them starting from the center of one of the reels. These legs have another reels attached at where a knee joint would be, and they connect to large mechanical talons (similar to that of a large predatory bird)[1]

Abilities

Punch cards flying out of Hol Horse from the Parrot Stand's attack
The Parrot's Stand, while still having an undefined ability, is a devastating long-range Stand.

Memory Punch Cards

The Parrot's Stan appears to use punched cards as its primary form of attack. These punched cards are released from the reels on the body of the Stand. They are then punched and inserted into the target, before bursting out of their body through the mouth, ears, and other holes. Their eyes also gain a dimpled texture, with multiple holes appearing in them.

These Punched Cards force the enemy to re-experience past events, such as when it was used on Hol Horse he began to relive his confrontation with Dio. These past events even force people to reenact the event, such as Hol Horse moving to shoot as he did in his confrontation with DIO.[2] This can even be done to those who have not lived through the said past event, as Hiraoka was forced to relive the experience of Wilson Phillips, which caused him to crash his car.[3]

Trivia

  • While no direct connection has been made, the eyes on the Parrot Stand's victims bear a striking resemblance to that of Moody Blues, another Stand that revolves around replaying past events.

It must be one of those 'rods'...! It's only been seen in video footage, and a live or dead specimen has never been found... It's because they melt immediately after they die... Is his ability to control these 'rods'?

Sky High (スカイ・ハイ, Sukai Hai) is the Stand of Rikiel, featured in the sixth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Stone Ocean. Attached to the wrist of Rikiel, it allows him to control a colony of "rods", cryptids that can fly and suck the body heat of people.

Appearance

Though it is never actually seen in the storyline, the page giving data on the rods and Sky High's Stand page display the Stand as a small creature which sits on Rikiel's wrist. It takes the form of a 4 leggeed creature with long 3 toed feet, and a long main body. The main body has very little features, with its only distinct features being 2 reflective green plates, red eyes, and a proboscus type mouth. Sky High also displays a second head, which protrudes out from the top of the first head. This second head is smaller and yellow, with look similar to that of a Pteranodon

Color Schemes

The series is known for alternating colors between media, the information presented below may or may not be canon.
Colored Manga
Body(Lime and pine green body, gold horn.)
Eyes(Red)
Rods(Translucent baby blue.)

Abilities

Sky High functions as a tool which allows Rikiel to control a hidden species of creatures known as Rods (竿(ロッズ), Rozzu).[1] While normally small and virtually invisble (except while being recorded), a large group of Rods under Rikiel's control can act as his own army of attack dogs

Rods

Main article: Rods
Sky High Rods Infobox Manga.png

Also called skyfish, rods are obscured, fast moving, parasitic insect-like creatures that live in remote locations. Thus, their very existence could never be fully proven.[2]

Rods primarily fly, utilizng a 4 sets of wings to propel themselves forward.[2] Whenever they're flying, their wings rotate similar to propellers, and the direction in which they are flying depends on which direction their wings are rotating. Moreover, they are especially nimble and can slip through extremely tiny opening (such as a web made by Jolyne with Stone Free [3] or evade the punches of Stone Free itself.[4] Through Sky High, Rikiel discovered the rods' main source of sustenance: body heat.[5] By flying past other organisms, the rods can absorb the body heat as food and use it to fuel themselves. The rods can also find heat to absorb via heat-seeking organs located near their nose.

Rod Manipulation

Rikiel surrounded by Rods

Sky High's only power is to control and direct the rods.[3] However, the exact mechanism of that control is not disclosed and is theorized as a trust relationship.[6] Prior to him learning about his Stand Rikiel would even be harmed by the Rods, with them sucking the heat from his body and causing various diseases. Prior to learning about his Stand and gaining he control of them, the rods were causing numerous diseases on Rikiel because of their heat-sucking.[2] This can still happen to Rikiel when he is in a stressful situation, with the Rods causing his eyes to flutter after being attacked by Jolyne and Ermes.

Rikiel is able to control all rods as long as they are in his line of sight, but the closer Rikiel is, the more accurately he can direct the rods,[3] However, they can still be controlled and effective at long ranges such as when he used the Rods to attack Jolyne, Ermes, and Emporio in a helicopter.[3] Rikiel needs to concentrate to properly control the rods, and their effects can even backfire on him if he loses his cool. If he panics, Sky High unwillingly orders all nearby rods to stay still.[2][5]

Rikiel exploits the rod's habit of sucking heat to rapidly and locally decrease the temperature of a selected body part from afar. When concentrated in one spot, the rapid decrease in heat can cause body parts and internal organs to become prone to disease and failure.[4] Depending on where this decrease in temperature is in the body, it can cause a wide variety of effects, such as:
Rikiel using the Rod's abilty eat body heat to control Erme's finger's
  • Stealing heat from eyelids which can force them to shut, blinding enemies.[2]
  • Stealing heat from the muscles, which can shut them down or even make them rot. Rikiel is able to use this with enough precision to effectively control a target's hand gestures[5] or even speech.[4]
  • He can twist ankles by making rods fly past them and steal the heat from them.[4]
  • By targeting the hypothalamus near the upper jaw, Rikiel can slow down the visual perception of the targets, making them see things with a few seconds delay.[7]
  • If the rods concentrate on the brain stem which controls all sensory and motor functions like heartbeat, the victim is guaranteed to die.[4]
  • Rods can also be used to numb Rikiel's neck nerves to prevent himself from feeling shock or pain and continue to fight beyond his body's normal capabilities.[8]

Creation & Development

The Idea for a stand based around Rods came from a TV show Araki had seen discussing them, though the name of the show is unknown.

Trivia

  • The idea of Rods are actually based of a real like optical phenomenon, originally discovered in the mid 90s. While they were originally beleived to be Aliens or Cryptids or by Cryptozoologist and Ufologists, they were later discovered to visual artifacts from bugs flying in front of cameras. When certain winged bugs fly in front of a camera, the insect is captured on the image a number of times, while propelling itself forward, which gives the illusion of a single elongated rod-like body, with bulges. Despite this discovery though, Rods in JoJo exist as actual living beings.
