He's able to use a similar clairvoyance as Joseph because his body is Jonathan's from the neck down.

This unnamed Stand possessed by Jonathan Joestar's corpse and used by DIO is featured in the third part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Stardust Crusaders.

It is a plant-like Stand that bears a resemblance to Joseph's Hermit Purple and shares similar abilities. DIO uses its power to track down the Joestar group throughout their journey.

Appearance

The stand is identical to Hermit Purple in appearance, manifesting as multiple thorn-covered vines that come out of DIO's arms.

Abilities

Divination

Similar to Hermit Purple, this Stand's ability can read the minds of others and display the resulting images via other objects, including cameras (notably not destroyed, unlike Joseph's usage), television sets, and crystal balls. DIO uses this ability to track the Joestar Group's current location to send Stand users after them. DIO can also use its power to detect and interrupt Hermit Purple's own psychic divination, at one point destroying the television set Joseph is using by transmitting an overwhelming amount of energy into it.[1]

Along with his own Stand The World, it is stated in JOJO A-GO!GO! that this Stand is awakened within Jonathan Joestar's body when it is struck by the Bow and Arrow, allowing DIO to manipulate it along with its host body.[2]

JORGE JOESTAR

The information below derives from a source not written by Araki. As such, it may or may not be considered canon.

When it comes to my blood, I can make prophecies of my own.

In the novel JORGE JOESTAR, Jonathan's Stand is named The Passion (受難(ザ・パッション), Za Passhon). It is the Stand of Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando after stealing Jonathan's body. In the novel it can predict the futures of anyone that is blood related to its user.

The Passion appears the same as Hermit Purple but as a crown of thorns on the user's head. The thorns slightly move on their own when its abilities are used.[3]

The Passion allows its user to accurately foresee the detailed futures of any of their blood related relatives, allowing the user to make their own prophecies. It can predict actions from a few seconds later to events in the extremely far future.

The ability is not limited to only their immediate relatives. It allows them to foresee the future lives of even the incarnations of their relatives in subsequent universes. Dio is capable of using the ability on both his own and Jonathan's relatives. It also allows them to forsee the future of anyone who they have consumed the blood of. Dio used this when eating the body of a different version of Kars and making his blood agree with him.

Dio uses the ability while underwater in his coffin for one hundred years, devising a plan that will let him become the Ultimate Thing. He also uses it on Giorno Giovanna who is from an unknown universe, admitting he didn't pay much attention to Giorno in future universes after foreseeing the original Giorno defeat Diavolo in the first universe.

Although its future predictions are accurate, the future can be changed by a singularity with a Beyond, such as Jorge Joestar.[4]
