Okuyasu Nijimura (虹村 億泰, Nijimura Okuyasu) was confirmed to return for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[1]

His moveset is fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay tweaks that All-Star Battle R brought.

Being Okuyasu's one and only voice actor, debuting in Ultra Jump CM and later voicing Okuyasu in All-Star Battle and the Diamond is Unbreakable anime adaptation, Wataru Takagi reprises his role in this game as well. As with a majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Okuyasu were either added or re-recorded.

Gameplay

Okuyasu has 1000 health and uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, fighting foes with The Hand. During a fight, he can use various moves from his appearance in Diamond is Unbreakable.

The distance The Hand appears away from Okyuasu increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order unless the first hit connects. If it does, The Hand will instead always appear directly above Okuyasu, regardless of the input. The kick can function as an anti-air and can hit downed opponents.

The Hand charges a large amount of its power into its right hand before wiping out an extremely wide area in front of Okuyasu with a downwards strike, dealing heavy unblockable damage that knocks the opponent down. This HHA also has a vacuum effect that is determined by whether or not The Hand is active when executed:
  • User Mode: Okuyasu will teleport straight above after the strike.
  • Stand Mode: The opponent will be pulled towards Okuyasu after the strike.

The attack executes slowly to offset its unblockable nature, but can strike downed opponents as well as be delayed for a few seconds with a held input. Its massive horizontal range allows it to easily hit opponents who attempt to Dodge out of the way of the attack.

Furious at the opponent for making him think harder than he has to, Okuyasu sends The Hand out to aggressively strike them with its right hand. If it connects, The Hand begins repeatedly attacking the opponent with its power using swipes at different angles, slowly erasing them from existence. Charging up for a final swipe, The Hand then eliminates the opponent completely as Okuyasu satisfyingly grins. Suddenly, a random flowerpot flies from out of nowhere due to The Hand's vacuum effect and strikes Okuyasu square in the face, knocking him backwards and inflicting a small amount of silver damage (making him the only character in the game who can damage himself with his own GHA). The opponent reappears at the same time and is sent flying.
The silver damage is incapable of KO'ing Okuyasu, and he may regenerate the lost health over time, but only if he does not receive damage again during the process.

Okuyasu's theme is ASBR Music.png I'll Surpass My Big Bro (『兄貴を越える』, "Aniki o Koeru"), and can be unlocked in-game by buying it from the Gallery Shop for ASBR Coins.png 1000 G.

Its name is in reference to Okuyasu saying the line "I'll have to surpass my bro." in Chapter 45 of Diamond is Unbreakable as an acknowledgement of what Red Hot Chili Pepper told him before managing to escape.

An ally in Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable. He is the user of the Stand The Hand and Josuke's classmate. He is a simple and violent person, but is good-natured and easily moved to tears. He has always relied on his brother, Keicho, to make decisions, and believes himself incapable of doing so himself. After his brother is killed by Red Hot Chili Pepper, he teams up with Josuke and Koichi.[3]

In commemoration of the release of Keicho Nijimura as the 3rd paid DLC character for ASBR, the Japanese ASBR Twitter account is hosting a giveaway of 20 sets of 3 ASBR Diamond is Unbreakable badges,[4] although only to be delivered to addresses in Japan.[5] The badges in question contain the ASBR render images of Okuyasu Nijimura, Keicho, and Josuke Higashikata respectively.

The campaign started on March 24, 2022, and will last until April 9 at 11:59pm JST. To enter the giveaway lottery, users only have to:

  1. Follow the @jojo_games_jp Twitter account.
  2. Retweet the tweet that announced the giveaway in the first place.

However, Twitter accounts set to private are ineligible for the giveaway. Unfollowing the ASBR Twitter account before the end of the giveaway also deems users ineligible. Furthermore, attempting to join the giveaway with multiple accounts will disqualify all of the associated accounts from the giveaway.[5]

The giveaway is directly implemented by Bandai Namco themselves, with no third party involvement, and the winners of the giveaway will be notified via Twitter DMs. Said winners will then announced sometime towards the end of April 2023. The gifts are only eligible for people in Japan, and are scheduled to be delivered in mid-May 2023.[5]
