Okuyasu ASB.png

Okuyasu makes his playable debut in the PS3 game, and was confirmed along with Josuke, Jolyne, and Ermes.

As one of the mass majority of playable characters in the game with the "Stand" Style, Okuyasu can turn The Hand on/off, changing movesets, as well as have access to the Stand Rush ability returning from the Capcom game, being able to attack in conjunction with his Stand. Okuyasu has 1000 HP.

Okuyasu possesses a single alternate costume, based on a moment during the events of the Let's Go Eat Some Italian Food story arc, where he took his school jacket off, revealing a tank top underneath. Aside from being a playable character, Okuyasu also appears on the "Kira Estate" stage as a background character along with Koichi; This is assuming that Okuyasu himself is not one of the two fighters being played.

Command List

As Okuyasu did not engage many enemies during Part 4, his moveset is heavily based on his Stand ability along with his own strong kicks and punches as a "hot headed"-type of character.

ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

The Hand quickly erases space in front of Okuyasu with an upwards swipe, knocking the opponent off their feet. This skill functions as a particularly fast anti-air, and has the power to nullify incoming non-HHA/GHA projectiles. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Special Moves (Stand Off)
I'm eliminating space!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND CHARGEABLE

Okuyasu summons The Hand to erase space in a downwards strike. This attack cannot be blocked, and can be delayed for a few seconds with a held input. The effect of this skill is altered depending on the attack button inputted. (Flash Cancel comboable)

  • Light (ASBL.png): Due to The Hand's vacuum effect, Okuyasu teleports a distance straight forward after the strike.
  • Medium (ASBM.png): Due to The Hand's vacuum effect, Okuyasu teleports forward and into the air after the strike, potentially placing him above the opponent if they're in range.
  • Heavy (ASBH.png): The skill instead becomes a feint, automatically canceling after a brief start-up period and allowing Okuyasu to act instantly.
Got ya, runt!
ASBDPad6.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Okuyasu summons The Hand to erase space in a quick upwards swipe, before using the resulting vacuum effect to suddenly teleport above and deliver a flying kick downward. The kick functions as an anti-air, and is a middle attack that cannot be blocked crouching. If the opponent is struck, The Hand knocks them to the ground and rapidly stomps on them with a barrage of kicks before knocking them away.

Special Moves (Stand On)
Gaoohhhn!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND CHARGEABLE

The Hand erases space in a downwards strike. This attack cannot be blocked, and can be delayed for a few seconds with a held input. A Stand Rush skill that Okuyasu can disconnect from to freely act while it is executing. The effect of this skill is altered depending on the attack button inputted. (Flash Cancel comboable)

  • Light (ASBL.png): Due to The Hand's vacuum effect, the opponent is pulled a short distance towards Okuyasu after the strike, giving him the advantage and a chance to attack first.
  • Medium (ASBM.png): Due to The Hand's vacuum effect, the opponent is pulled a long distance towards Okuyasu after the strike, giving him the advantage and a chance to attack first.
  • Heavy (ASBH.png): The skill instead becomes a feint, automatically canceling after a brief start-up period and allowing Okuyasu to act instantly.
I'll whittle you away!
ASBDPad2.pngx2 + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND WHEN DOWNED

The Hand delivers three successive swipes close to the ground, eliminating space while advancing forward. This is a low attack that cannot be blocked standing, trips the opponent upon connecting, and can even strike them while they're down. A Stand Rush skill that Okuyasu can disconnect from to freely act while it is executing. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Okuyasu hoists the opponent up by their collar and angrily punches them in the face.

Eat it for breakfast, jerk!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 2 ATK Buttons ON GROUND CHARGEABLE WHEN DOWNED

The Hand charges a large amount of its power into its right hand before wiping out an extremely wide area in front of Okuyasu with a downwards strike, dealing heavy unblockable damage that knocks the opponent down. This HHA also has a vacuum effect that is determined by whether or not The Hand is active when executed:

  • Stand OFF: Okuyasu will teleport forward after the strike.
  • Stand ON: The opponent will be pulled towards Okuyasu after the strike.

The attack executes slowly to offset its unblockable nature, but can strike downed opponents and as well as be delayed for a few seconds with a held input. Its massive horizontal range allows it to easily hit opponents who attempt to Dodge out of the way of the attack.

All this thinking hurts my brain!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 3 ATK Buttons, or ASBG.png ON GROUND

Furious at the opponent for making him think harder than he has to, Okuyasu sends The Hand out to aggressively strike them with its right hand. If it connects, The Hand begins repeatedly attacking the opponent with its power using swipes at different angles, slowly erasing them from existence. Charging up for a final swipe, The Hand then eliminates the opponent completely as Okuyasu satisfyingly grins. Suddenly, a random flowerpot flies from out of nowhere due to The Hand's vacuum effect and strikes Okuyasu square in the face, knocking him backwards and inflicting a small amount of silver damage (making him the only character in the game who can damage himself with his own GHA). The opponent reappears at the same time and is sent flying.
The silver damage is incapable of KO'ing Okuyasu, and he may regenerate the lost health over time, but only if he does not receive damage again during the process.

Gameplay Overview

Okuyasu functions as a pressure-based, close-ranged fighter who wields The Hand's terrifying power to unleash destructive single-hit attacks. While his mobility appears unassuming, he has control over spacing with a skill that either teleports him forward or pulls the opponent towards him depending on whether or not The Hand is active. His simple set of abilities betrays a layered offense, as the ability to feint certain skills lends his otherwise slow, unblockable attacks much more nuance. Combined with Stand Rush to allow him to act ahead of The Hand and alter the timing of offensive maneuvers, Okuyasu's dangerous capabilities can be highly difficult to properly defend against, and he quickly intimidates those he forces on the defensive or holds an advantage against.

However, Okuyasu's simplicity can make him easy to outmaneuver. The Hand's abilities tend to be linear and slow to offset their power, making Okuyasu vulnerable against foes who can utilize counters or attacks with invulnerability. Even using Stand Rush defensively cannot protect The Hand as it continues executing its lengthy skills. Many of his trickier plays rely on an opponent being too intimidated to directly challenge his sluggish attacks, or unaware of the holes in his offense. As a result, he must keep himself unpredictable to remain effective during battle.

In all, Okuyasu is an extraordinarily easy-to-use combatant who performs best against opponents made unsettled by the mere threat of his pressure, unblockable attacks, and damage output. He seeks to brute force his way past defenses to deliver tremendously damaging yet lenient combos, while utilizing his built-in feints to outwit and outpace enemies before they can familiarize themselves with his tricks.
