All-Star Battle R ★ Josuke Higashikata
Josuke Higashikata (東方 仗助, Higashikata Jōsuke) was confirmed for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[2] He was 1 of 15 playable characters during the EVO 2022 Demo on August 5.[3]
His moveset is fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay tweaks that All-Star Battle R brought.
Replacing Josuke's previous voice actor Wataru Hatano now is Yuki Ono, who voices him since the anime. Because of this, and like the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Josuke were either added or re-recorded.
Costumes
Like the rest of the roster currently featured in the anime adaptation of their Part, Josuke, by default, sports the outfit that he wears in the Diamond is Unbreakable anime adaptation.
As part of the Digital Deluxe Edition[4] of the game, Josuke – as with Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, and Giorno – receives an exclusive costume based on his outfit in the JOESTAR The Inherited Soul event.
Command List
Josuke uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, using various moves from his appearance in Diamond is Unbreakable.
Switches between User Mode and Stand Mode. Switching modes changes the skills Josuke is able to use.
The arm of Josuke's Stand appears on its own and uses its long reach to unleash several straight punches. A high attack. It becomes a Guardbreak if performed in "Watch Your Mouth!" Mode
A counter attack in which Josuke stops to fix his hairstyle. Only usable if you have at least 1 bar of HH Gauge, and consumes 1 bar if the counter is successful. If an opponent's non-HHA/GHA hits while this is in effect, Josuke will enter Watch Your Mouth! Mode. While in this mode, Josuke will continue to advance toward the opponent and be unable to move or crouch outside of forward jumps and charges. However, the opponent's attacks will not knock Josuke back and normal attacks can be combined into Chain Beats regardless of sequence.
Special that forces a downed opponent to stand up.
Follows a short charge forward with a barrage of hits from Crazy Diamond. A high attack during charge and barrage.
- Light (): The finishing blow is a high attack, Crazy Diamond punches the opponent directly and knocks them down.
- Medium (): The finishing blow is a middle attack, Crazy Diamond punches downwards knocking down the opponent.
- Heavy (): The finishing blow is a low attack, Crazy Diamond sweeps the opponent with its arm and launches them in the air.
Crazy Diamond destroys the ground with a barrage of punches. A low attack. The number of hits increases in order, but the greater the increase, the more vulnerable Josuke becomes. The ground will remain destroyed for the rest of the round. Using "DORA!" again before the ground is restored will destroy another spot of ground, and the ground destroyed previously will be returned to normal. Can be used to inflict an additional attack on a downed opponent.
A movement technique that rapidly moves Josuke to the spot where the ground has been destroyed by "DORA!" A middle attack. If performed while in "Watch Your Mouth!" Mode, Josuke's opponent's attacks will not be able to knock him back.
A projectile attack that fires bearings or shots. A high attack. Projectile speed and damage increase in order, but the greater the increase, the more vulnerable Josuke becomes.
Swiches between User Mode and Stand Mode. Switching modes changes the skills Josuke is able to use.
Performs an upward kick while falling. A high attack. Damage is increased during "Watch Your Mouth!" Mode.
Special that forces a downed opponent to stand up.
Crazy Diamond unleashes a diagonal upward barrage of attacks. A high attack. Number of hits increase in order, but the more hits, the more vulnerable Josuke becomes.
- Medium (): Josuke becomes invincible from just after the activation until the attack begins.
- Heavy (): Josuke becomes invincible for even longer than the variant.
Crazy Diamond advances forward while performing an attack throw. A high attack. Range of movement and number of hits increase in order, but the greater the increase, the more vulnerable Josuke becomes.
Crazy Diamond strikes the ground and uses a piece of earth to create a barrier. The strike that hits the ground is a low attack. The barrier is a high attack. The barrier will appear farther from Josuke in order. The barrier will disappear after a fixed amount of time has passed or after it hits Josuke, the opponent, or a projectile attack. Josuke won't be dealt damage if he touches the barrier. The barrier will be larger and deal more damage in "Watch Your Mouth!" Mode. Stand Rush-compatible.
Josuke grabs the opponent by the collar and punches them in the desired direction with Crazy Diamond.
An attack throw in which Crazy Diamond charges toward the opponent. Crazy Diamond hits the opponent with its elbow and breaks into a barrage that ends in a finishing a blow that sends the opponent flying. Additional commands can be input to link with follow-up skills when the attack is underway, but doing so depletes the HH Gauge.
A follow-up skill of "You're in my range!." During Crazy Diamond's barrage, it'll slice the opponent and shoot out it's 'homing missile', a heart-shaped piece of glass that'll hit the opponent directly then on-return. Downs the opponent upon impact. Spends 0.5 bars of HH Gauge.
Josuke manifests Crazy Diamond to strike, instead of an attack however, Josuke completely heals the opponent. Josuke then begins to affirm that "You're as good as new, for now. It's a fair fight now, isn't it? and unleashes Crazy Diamond to beat them back down to even less health. A high attack. The finishing blow sends the opponent flying.
"Watch your mouth!" comments
Just like on All-Star Battle, when triggering Josuke's "Watch your mouth!" ability, characters have unique lines that all pertain to insulting, mocking, or unwittingly offending Josuke and his hair. They will use the same "taunting eyes" pop-up also used by Joseph's "Your next line is...". Josuke will then reply with "What the hell did you say about my hair!" (今おれのこの頭のことなんつった!, Ima ore no kono atama no kotona ntsutta!) while entering his enraged state.
- “Such eerie hair. What might be hiding away in it?! (ただならぬ不気味な頭部!いったぃどんなものを秘めているのかッ!?)”
- “I've seen a lot of things in my life up until now! However, I've never seen such a strange head like that! (おれは!今までの人生でいるんな物を見て来だ!だが、こんなヘンな頭は見たこともねえッ!!)”—Robert E. O. Speedwagon, referencing Chapter 14
- “We can talk about your stupid hair later. (くだらねー髪の毛の話なんてあとにしな)”—Jotaro Kujo/Jotaro Kujo (Part 4), referencing Chapter 267
- “What's with that shameful, ugly hair?! Your parents will be sad! (なんじゃ、そのみっともない不細工な頭は!親が悲しむぞ!)”
- “I'll say it clearly this time. Your hairstyle is unsightly. (この際だからはっきり言うわ、あんたの髪型ダサいのよ)”
- “What's up with that hair?! Teehee, how lame... It's soooo uncool!! (なによその頭ーーッ!!だっ、ださいッ!すごくださいわあーッ!!)”
- “I can't help but irritate you with that ridiculous hairstyle! (テメーのそのふざけた髪型、 イラついてしょうがねぇぜ!)”
- “I'll lend you a razor or scissors...... You better clean up that hairstyle right now (カミソリでもハサミでも貸してやる………… その
髪型 すぐにでもかっさばいたほうがいい)” - “Stop acting all proud of that cheap-looking hairstyle!
- “Did you think that hair looked cool? That is somewhat pitiful... (その頭、カッコいいと思っているのか?なんだかそりゃあお気の毒だな…)”
- “What a horrendous hairstyle. I would never allow the people of my country to have it. (なんともひどい髪型だ。そんなヘアスタイルはわが国民には絶対させない)”
- “Baoh caught the scent of his enemy's hair. Baoh does not like the scent. (バオーは相手の髪の毛の香するにおいを触臭で感じ…そのにおいが大嫌いだった)”—Narrator, if playing as Ikuro Hashizawa
