Jotaro Kujo (Story Arc)
Jotaro Kujo (空条承太郎, Kūjō Jōtarō) is the first story arc in Stardust Crusaders.
Summary
The story begins in 1987 with Holy Kujo, daughter of Joseph Joestar, visiting her son Jotaro who is in jail for having beaten up four people. When the police officers tell him to leave, he refuses, claiming to have been possessed by an evil spirit. He demonstrates this possession by stealing a gun from one of the officers and then shoots himself, while the "spirit" catches the bullet.
Fours years ago, a familiar coffin in which was engraved the name "DIO" had been opened by three treasure hunters. The treasure hunters disappeared and only the empty coffin remained.
In the present, Holy welcomes her father and one of his friends in the airport and they go see Jotaro in prison. Joseph orders Jotaro to come out so that they can go home, but Jotaro refuses to listen and tears off the pinky of his grandfather's prosthetic hand. Thus, Joseph calls forth the fortuneteller Muhammad Avdol to get Jotaro out of his cell. Avdol summons Magician's Red, a being similar to the one Jotaro possesses, and binds the teenager with fire.
Joseph explains that Jotaro isn't possessed, but that he has acquired a Stand, a powerful representation of one's life force which stands beside its user. Jotaro angrily rips out two bars from the entrance of his cell and prepares to attack Avdol, but the latter turns away. Avdol had already accomplished his goal as Jotaro stepped out of his cell. Joseph then explains that the mortal enemy of the Joestar bloodline, DIO, escaped from his coffin and is roaming free.
