I will... not approach you.[2] (オレはおまえに…近づかない)

Risotto Nero (リゾット・ネエロ, Rizotto Nēro) was officially announced for All-Star Battle R on October 7, 2022 during the Stone Ocean anime stream[1] as the first playable DLC for the game, as well as the first character of the Season Pass. A full gameplay trailer was later posted on October 23.[3] He was then released on the October 27, 2022, although early access was available on the 25th for Season Pass and/or Digital Deluxe Edition holders, and could be fought - even without buying the DLC - via the "Endless Mode" in "Arcade Mode".

Having neither previously appeared in All-Star Battle nor Eyes of Heaven, he has an original moveset based on his appearance in Vento Aureo.

As Risotto's voice actor for the Golden Wind anime adaptation, Shinshu Fuji reprises his role in All-Star Battle R.

Gameplay

Risotto had 1000 health and uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, although unlike what is typical of characters with this Style, he does not summon or dismiss Metallica. Instead, he camouflages with his Stand's power, increasing his evasion and making it more difficult for his opponent to track his of actions.

His Iron Deficiency mechanic applies a debuff to opponents that prevents them from dashing, running, and gaining Heart Heat, allowing Risotto to zone them more easily with projectiles. His Assassin ability also further helps him keep a distance as it makes him impervious to Throws and most projectiles, and can make it difficult for opponents to read him. Both of these make him decent on defense, although direct attacks from up-close opponents naturally nullify this. Therefore, Risotto is best played offensively at a close- to mid-range until he is able to debuff the opponent with Iron Deficiency, at which point he is a lot safer to attack from afar.

Risotto turns invisible by covering himself in fine iron particles and camouflaging. The motion input performed determines the action he will execute while doing so:
  1. None: Risotto will camouflage in place.
  2. ASBDPad6.png: Risotto dashes forward while camouflaging. This variation can be chained into from any normal attack, but consumes 1/2th of a bar of Heart Heat instead to do so.
  3. ASBDPad4.png: Risotto dashes backwards while camouflaging.
  4. ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png: Risotto jumps forward while camouflaging.
  5. ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png: Risotto jumps backward while camouflaging.

Moves 2 through 5 can be executed out of a normal attack, but at the cost of half a bar from the HH Gauge.

While camouflaged, Risotto is passively invulnerable to Throws and most projectiles. However, he is still vulnerable to any trap and specific projectiles can still hit him: projectiles unleashed through HHAs and GHAs; all of Narancia's projectiles, bullets and bombs alike; Muhammad Avdol's "Flaming Detector" skill; and Mariah's "Sorry, but you'll have to die now." knives. Naturally, he makes it challenging for a human opponent to visually judge his next attack, improving his ability to bypass defenses with low-hitting or middle-hitting attacks when on offense.

The effect will cancel upon Risotto performing any attack, taking or blocking damage, or at a second press of the Style ASBS.png button. Otherwise, it will last indefinitely.

I won't get closer to you.
ASBDPad3.png + ASBH.png ON GROUND WHEN DOWNED
Risotto throws a knife projectile towards the ground in front of him, useful for hitting downed opponents. The initial slash that Risotto performs is also an attack, being a high attack whereas the knife is a low attack.

Attack type: High (slash) + Low (knife)
Damage: 13 + 30 (43)

Because you are already complete.
Passive
Whenever Risotto lands abilities marked with a star (), the opponent is inflicted with Iron Deficiency for a period of time, visualized by yellow blood seeping out of their bodies. While afflicted, the opponent is unable to dash forward or backward. In addition, they cannot generate Heart Heat under normal conditions (dealing, taking, or receiving damage; Ripple Breathing for Ripple Style characters), indicated by their Heart Heat Gauge rusting over.

The only two characters immune to Iron Deficiency are Giorno Giovanna with Gold Experience Requiem, and Diego Brando while in Dinosaur Form.

Rumble Mode
Activates when under 30% health
This mode is automatically activated once Jotaro falls bellow 30% health. It increases his attack power, as well as the rate at which the Heart Heat Gauge rises, while also decreasing the rate at which the Guard Guage drops.
Skills
You can find iron anywhere in this world.
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND
Risotto conjures a volley of 5 projectile scalpels from iron and launches them. Depending on the attack button inputted, the scalpels are launched at different angles. (Flash Cancel comboable)
  • Light ASBL.png: Risotto launches the scalpels straight forward.
  • Medium ASBM.png: Risotto launches the scalpels at an upward angle, functioning as a mid-ranged anti-air.
  • Heavy ASBH.png: Risotto launches the scalpels sharply upward, functioning as a close-ranged anti-air.

Attack type: High
Damage: 10 each (50 in total)

I know how I'll kill you. []

A counter. Risotto boldly gestures to his opponent. If struck by a non-projectile/HHA/GHA melee attack, he will cross his arms as razors begin bursting out of the opponent's face, knocking them back and inflicting Iron Deficiency. The attack button determines the attack's damage, inversely affecting Risotto's recovery speed. The attack button also determines the duration of the inflicted Iron Deficiency, being ASBL.png 8 / ASBM.png 9 / ASBH.png 10 seconds resepctively. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Damage: ASBL.png 80 / ASBM.png 100 / ASBH.png 120

Control iron within 5-10 meters
ASBDPad2.pngx2 + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND CHARGEABLE
Risotto manifests Metallica on both of his hands while stretching his arms out, generating a massive field of the Stand's influence visually represented as grey ripples emanating outwards from his feet and covering most of arena space. The button must be held to maintain this skill's effect, and Risotto is forced to be stationary while performing it, though the input can be released at any time to minimize vulnerability.

While the opponent is inside Metallica's range, a timer gauge appears over their head counting down from 3. If Risotto does not release the skill prematurely, and the opponent does not escape the field or interrupt him with an attack before the timer reaches 0, razors will violently explode from their body and send them flying to inflict high damage. This attack is completely unblockable, and will ignore invulnerability, Stylish Guard, and Stylish Evade. To note, the countdown will continue while the opponent is downed, but the attack will not complete if they are downed when the timer reaches 0. If successful, Risotto may immediately chain into another attack, canceling his recovery time. (Comboable)

If executed while "Assassin" is in effect, Risotto will remain camouflaged until the input is released, the attack succeeds, or he takes damage.

Damage: 150

The assassin that no one could find
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND
Risotto rushes a distance forward while briefly camouflaging, before reappearing and unleashing a knife attack. The attack button inputted determines the strike performed.
  • Light ASBL.png: Risotto performs a low outwards slash, functioning as a low attack that knocks the opponent off their feet. (Flash Cancel comboable)
  • Medium ASBM.png: Risotto performs a leaping stab from the air, functioning as a middle attack that leaves the opponent crumpling. (Comboable)
  • Heavy ASBH.png: Risotto performs a lunging stab, sending the opponent flying far back. This variation leaves Risotto the least vulnerable if blocked.

If executed while "Assassin" is in effect, Risotto will remain camouflaged until the instant he delivers the attack.

Attack type: ASBL.png Low / ASBM.png Middle / ASBH.png High
Damage: ASBL.png 40 / ASBM.png 42 / ASBH.png 38

Close the wound with magnetism
ASBDPad2.pngx2 + ASBS.png (costs ½ HH) ON GROUND
Expending 1/2 of a bar of Heart Heat, Risotto attempts to manifest Metallica on his body in order to mend his injuries.

While the health regained is considerable, this ability takes time to perform, and can be interrupted if used inopportunely. Upon success, the health begins as regenerating silver damage that disappears if Risotto is struck, meaning he must avoid damage in order to recoup any significant lost health.

Throw
Controlling with magnetism
2 ATK buttons at close range or ASBT.png ON GROUND
Risotto shoves his opponent off-balance before conjuring several scalpels into the air and launching them into the opponent.

ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 2 ATK Buttons ON GROUND
Risotto conjures a volley of projectile scalpels before pointing to launch them forward. If they connect, he follows up by creating more scalpels in a circle around the opponent. The scalpels then fire off and attack the opponent from all sides, launching them away.

Attack type: High
Damage: 30 + 8*14 + 48 (190)

This is the end! Take this! Metallica! []
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 3 ATK Buttons, or ASBG.png ON GROUND
Commanding his opponent's attention, Risotto flings several scalpels straight forward, traveling the length of the stage if allowed to do so. If they connect, the opponent is knocked off balance by the attack as Risotto camouflages and disappears. A massive number of scalpels are then conjured from the ground and fire forward at high speeds, barraging the opponent and carrying them into the air. Reappearing, Risotto finishes his attack by focusing Metallica's power from within the opponent, making razor blades explode out of their body and inflicting them with Iron Deficiency afterward.

Attack type: High
Damage: 30 + 10*24 + 30 + 60 (360)

Special Interactions

Dialogue

Outside of the All-Star Battle Mode, Risotto Nero has unique interaction dialogue for both his match entrances and victories when facing certain characters.

Due to the availability of certain voice actors, most of these interactions re-use existing dialogue for Stroheim's opponents. In this case, only Joseph Joestar and Rudol von Stroheim have new dialogue - Joseph because the voice actor returned for his character's "You're next line is..." interaction; Stroheim due to both characters being DLC released close to each other.

  • Once I'm coming for you... That means... I already know how I'll kill you!
    —Default dialogue
  • Heh heh! What are you waiting for? Come get me! What are you, chicken?
Are you a moron? Or... are you trying to taunt me out?
    —Risotto
  • You there, suspicious sort! Halt! Explain your skulking about!
...There's a loud one. I should eliminate him before he makes too much noise.
    —Risotto
  • You're the new member of Bucciarati's team?
    —Risotto
    I have to do this!
  • What's wrong? Come at me.
Start at the head... Cut off the head of the team!
    —Risotto
  • Why don't you give me your best shot? Let's see if your Stand will work on me.
    —Risotto
    Stop screwing with me!
  • Scouting only matters if you don't get caught, Narancia.
    —Risotto
    Sneaky bastard!
  • I've got no choice. There's no going back now!
Purple Haze. A dangerous Stand, but I can eliminate it.
    —Risotto
  • I've finally found you! The boss's daughter!
    —Risotto
I'm not gonna turn tail and run!
  • We don't ever say we're going to kill someone. You get what I'm saying, Pesci?
Pesci, Prosciutto is right. And I'll tell you why you don't need it right now.
    —Risotto
  • Hello? Anybody home?
Yes, I heard you. You're going to Venezia after Bucciarati's gang, right?
    —Risotto
  • That Stand... You work for the boss too?
    —Risotto (P1)
Stay out of our way! We're going to get our hands on the boss's daughter!

  • Now I'm sure! You're the one we've been looking for all along!
