A summary of Bruno Bucciarati's history and movesets in video games.

[edit]

GioGio's Bizarre Adventure (PS2)

Bucciarati makes his video game debut in GioGio's Bizarre Adventure as both a boss and a playable character. He is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai.

Bucciarati is the first enemy the player must face, appearing as an enemy in Chapters 1-1 and 1-2. As Chapter 1-1 mostly consists of a tutorial, Bucciarati has only half the health of a regular enemy. In Chapter 1-2, he first attempts to evade Giorno through the use of his zippers: at one of four places in the stage, Bucciarati can create a zipper and teleport to any of the other three. If he is dealt enough damage, he attempts to hide inside one of four civilians, requiring the player to find him in order to beat him. When he is fought directly as an enemy, his attack pattern primarily utilizes "My skills make you shiver, no?" and Stand Shoot attacks.

Although most of his moves are shared as a boss and a playable character, his zipper teleportation in Chapter 1-2 is exclusive to that stage. However, Bucciarati gains some new moves as a playable character: in Stand Mode, Bucciarati can cover large distances via a closing zipper, as well as temporarily disappear by traveling underground. During Chapter 11-2, the player plays as Bucciarati's soul in Diavolo's body; this unusual situation has no effect on his moveset.

All-Star Battle (PS3)

framless

Bruno Bucciarati appears in All-Star Battle as a playable character, confirmed for the game alongside Narancia Ghirga and Diavolo.

As one of the mass majority of playable characters in the game with the "Stand" Style, Bucciarati can turn his Stand, Sticky Fingers, "on/off", changing movesets, as well as having access to the Stand Rush ability returning from the Capcom game, Capcom Fighters, being able to attack in conjunction with his Stand. Bucciarati has 950 HP.

Unlike the Golden Wind anime adaptation, Bucciarati here is voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama, replacing Takahiro Sakurai, Bucciarati's voice actor in the GioGio's Bizarre Adventure videogame. Noriaki went on to also voice Bucciarati in Eyes of Heaven.

Costumes

Bucciarati's default color is an original as the anime was not out at the time of the game's release. He doesn't use the same color scheme as in GioGio's Bizarre Adventure despite the gaming existing previously. Ironically, the color scheme in that game became the one used in the Part 5 anime.

However, Sticky Fingers carried its colors from GioGio's Bizarre Adventure, which also coincidentally became the anime colors for the Stand.

Moveset

During a fight, he can use various moves pulled from his appearance in Vento Aureo.

Bucciarati is a utilitarian combatant that emphasizes excellent maneuverability, strong spacing and neutral with multiple ranged attacks, and an overall impressive repertoire of different abilities. Sticky Fingers's various zipper-based powers lend him a wealth of possibilities, ranging from a very fast, multi-purpose movement ability, a "teleporting" skill, and many mid- to long-ranged attacks; He can functionally move to any range he needs to be immediately and reliably begin attacking from there. While Stand OFF focuses on his mobility and quick, long-reaching attacks for a defensive style, Bucciarati switches to a much more aggressive strategy with Sticky Fingers active, gaining heavier strike attacks and launching skills while retaining his core above-average reach.

However, Bucciarati's most important damage-dealing skills have considerable recovery period after performing them, which means he is vulnerable to retaliation should the opponent successfully dodge or block his attacks. Although Flash Cancels and Stand Rush may help mitigate this weakness, it can naturally make him more reliant on Heart Heat. As a result, he requires proper knowledge of his attacks' ranges and spacing to help keep himself safe from counterattack, and more care be given towards Heart Heat as a fail-safe.

With all his strengths combined, Bucciarati is outstandingly reliable and versatile, and seen as one of the most well-rounded characters in the game. When proper understanding of his talents is applied, he possesses a naturally advanced level of spatial control over the arena, unleashes attacks from any angle, and outmaneuvers his foe before quickly punishing their actions.

Bucciarati can summon or dismiss Sticky Fingers, altering his available abilities.

Heaven's small coincidence
Passive (requires 1 stock of HH)

A special ability that automatically activates if Bucciarati is KO'd during a round where he could be Retired while having at least one stock of Heart Heat. Bucciarati rises again from defeat, being granted a small amount of Resolve Mode health to continue fighting with.

Special Moves (Stand Off)
I've got you!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND IN AIR OK

Bucciarati delivers a quick straight punch with his reach greatly extended via his arm unzipping, knocking the opponent off their feet. This skill can be performed in mid-air, and the attack button inputted determines the trajectory of the strike. (Flash Cancel comboable)

Ground versions:

  • Light (ASBL.png): Bucciarati punches upwards, and the attack functions as an anti-air.
  • Medium (ASBM.png): Bucciarati punches straight forward.
  • Heavy (ASBH.png): Bucciarati punches at a downwards angle.

Aerial versions:

  • Light (ASBL.png): Bucciarati punches straight forward, allowing him to challenge an opponent also in the air.
  • Medium (ASBM.png): Bucciarati punches at a diagonally downwards angle.
  • Heavy (ASBH.png): Bucciarati punches sharply downwards.
This isn't my arm.
ASBDPad6.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Bucciarati summons Sticky Fingers as they both perform a 3-hit one-handed punch combo in unison, launching the opponent into the air. If Heavy (ASBH.png) is inputted, the attack has a longer start-up period but initiates a guard effect against High- and Middle-hitting attacks before executing, protecting him so long as it's not challenged by a Low attack; It will also send the opponent flying away. (Flash Cancel Comboable)

Close, zipper!
ASBDPad4.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png/ASBDPad6.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Bucciarati creates a zipper on the ground and begins riding it at high speeds towards or away from the opponent. The attack button inputted determines his travel distance and speed. This ability can be used to create or close distance for positional or evasion purposes, due to both its speed as well as the fact that Bucciarati is especially low to the ground while moving; This allows him to dodge under many incoming attacks.

Of special note is that this skill is cancelable not only into a dedicated follow-up skill, but also "I'll have to finish you from afar!" and Bucciarati's Throw, offering him both impressive mobility potential as well as the ability suddenly cover a large distance and Throw the opponent in a single maneuver.

So I gotta beat you, huh?
(During "Close, zipper!") ASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Using the momentum of the zipper, Bucciarati delivers a low sliding kick that deals heavy damage, sending the opponent flying into the stage wall if hit. This is a low attack that cannot be blocked standing.

I'll finish you from afar!
ASBDPad2.pngx2 + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png then ASBDPad2.png/ASBDPad8.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Bucciarati creates a zipper on the ground and quickly enters it, becoming invulnerable and reappearing at a different location for positional or evasion purposes. The buttons inputted determine where he reappears in relation to where he started. If Down (ASBDPad2.png) is held, he'll reappear from the ground through another zipper. If Up (ASBDPad8.png) is held, he'll descend from the air with his arm unraveling by a zipper.

  • Light (ASBL.png): Bucciarati reappears a distance from the opponent, or his horizontal position does not change if he is already far enough.
  • Medium (ASBM.png): Bucciarati reappears closer to the opponent, or right in front of them if close enough.
  • Heavy (ASBH.png): Bucciarati reappears right in front of/above the opponent, or much closer if he is too far.

Sticky Fingers rapidly punches while advancing forward, the final punch sending the opponent flying. The attack button inputted determines the Stand's forward movement as well as the hit count and total damage of the attack. This skill can be performed in mid-air, suspending Bucciarati's fall and instead making Sticky Fingers deliver its punches from a stationary position. A Stand Rush skill that Bucciarati can disconnect from to freely act while it is executing. (Flash Cancel Comboable)

Not so bright are you?
ASBDPad4.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Both Bucciarati and Sticky Fingers both wind up and deliver straight punches, their reach significantly extended via their arms unzipping, knocking the opponent off their feet. (Flash Cancel Comboable)

Saw it coming miles away!
ASBDPad2.pngx2 + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Sticky Fingers creates a zipper on the ground and punches into it. Another zipper immediately opens up a set distance away to deliver the punch, knocking the opponent into the air in a low attack that cannot be blocked standing. The attack button inputted determines the location of the second zipper. (Flash Cancel Comboable)

Open, zipper!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png ON GROUND

Sticky Fingers punches the ground, creating and sending out a projectile zipper moving forwards. The zipper strikes as a low attack that cannot be blocked standing, and launches the opponent into the air upon connecting. The attack button inputted determines the travel distance of the zipper. (Flash Cancel Comboable)

Bucciarati grabs the opponent, punches them upside the head hard enough for them to bounce off the ground, backhand-punches them in the abdomen to knock them into the air, then backhands them again in the head to send them flying.

Heart Heat Attack / Great Heat Attack
Are you prepared? I am!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 2 ATK Buttons ON GROUND

Bucciarati braces himself with his arms before charging forward at full speed. If he tackles the opponent, he'll grab them before falling with them into an open zipper on the ground created by Sticky Fingers. While off-screen, he proceeds to beat the opponent for heavy damage accompanied by muffled commotion. Bucciarati finishes by reappearing from above the screen and forcefully pile-driving his foe into the ground as he cleanly rolls away, costing him a small sliver of health.
The damage dealt to Bucciarati himself is silver, and he can regain this lost health over time, provided he doesn't take damage again during this process.

Arrivederci!
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + 3 ATK Buttons, or ASBG.png ON GROUND

Bucciarati calls out Sticky Fingers to create a zipper on the ground and punch into it, sending out a second zipper moving along the ground forward. If the second zipper makes contact with the opponent, it opens up as Sticker Fingers's zipper-extended fist flies out of it and uppercuts them high into the air, prompting Bucciarati and his Stand to descend into the first zipper. Sticky Fingers emerges from the second zipper directly under the airborne opponent and assaults them with a barrage of upward punches, letting out its signature "ARI ARI ARI" cry. Bucciarati himself slowly emerges during the extended assault and firmly bids his opponent an "Arrivederci" while saluting, as a final left haymaker from his Stand sends them flying (recreating how he killed Pesci).

Trivia

  • Alongside the rest of the playable members of his gang (excluding Narancia), as well as Ermes Costello of Stone Ocean, Bucciarati is one of the only characters who activates Resolve Mode instead of the normal Rumble Mode when low on health. In this state, attacks that do not result in hard knockdowns or blow-backs no longer phase the character.
  • If he is hit with Giorno's HHA, "Savor the taste of pain!", Gold Experience delivers a potent hook to his jaw, effectively dislocating it as a tooth can be seen flying from his mouth, recreating the exact same scenario in the manga.
  • Bucciarati was voted as the 4th most fan-favorite character in All-Star Battle's League, making an exhibition match against Part 4's Josuke Higashikata to promote the game.

Eyes of Heaven (PS3/PS4)

Bucciarati jojoeoh.png

Bucciarati was confirmed for Eyes of Heaven alongside Diavolo and Trish Una, as both a playable character and a guide NPC. As a Stand User, Bucciarati is one of many characters with wildly varied abilities that grant him uniqueness in battle.

  • Style Action - Open, zipper!: Bucciarati summons Sticky Fingers to install a zipper on the ground. Opponents that step on the zippers will be paralyzed and left vulnerable to further attack. However, Bucciarati also has a secondary application for his placed zippers.
    • Zipper Icon: A small open zipper above Bucciarati's health gauge displays how many zippers he has active at a given time. He may have up to four zippers placed; assuming this Style Action is continuously used as soon as its cooldown period ends, the oldest zipper will expire before Bucciarati can place a fifth.
    • I'll finish you from afar!: If the Style Action button is held, Bucciarati places a zipper on the ground then enters it. This grants him invincibility and allows him to exit from any zipper he's already placed of the player's choosing, represented by anchor icons the player can select from. Bucciarati may travel between zippers from anywhere on the stage, regardless of distance, but will automatically choose the closest one if a destination zipper is not manually selected. This ability allows for quick escapes and inversely can be used to get closer to opponents just as quickly. If no other zipper is active, Bucciarati will simply come back out of the same zipper he entered. Upon his exit, he may also instantly cancel the skill with "Close, zipper!".
  • Saw it coming miles away!: Sticky Fingers creates a zipper on the ground, then spawns a second zipper which travels along the ground as a projectile-type attack. The moving zipper has homing capabilities and will automatically curve towards targets. If it connects, the zipper immediately opens up and Sticky Fingers will deliver a punch into the first zipper that comes out the other end to uppercut opponents high into the air. Bucciarati is vulnerable when performing this skill, as he must maintain the moving zipper. The zipper will also stop upon making contact with a wall or other obstacle.
  • ARI ARI ARI ARI: Sticky Fingers flies a short distance forward before attacking by rapidly punching 11 times. The final punch sends opponents flying, has a short delay, and causes the Stand to move even more forward. Upon the last punch being throw, Bucciarati can cancel the skill with his Style Action.
  • Disgraces like you screw up everything they do!: Bucciarati unzips his arm and delivers a long-range straight punch. The activating input may be held to further increase range. If the punch connects, Bucciarati then grabs his target and pulls them towards him, giving him the chance to attack first; He can cancel the punch into any other attack or skill.
  • Close, zipper!: Bucciarati rides a zipper placed on the ground at high speeds, similar to his Homing Dash. This move can be used for traversal or closing the distance on his targets, assisting in evasion through the former. The activating input can be held to increase the time and therefore distance he covers. While active, Bucciarati's stamina gauge quickly drains, and he will damage opponents he makes contact with. If his Homing Dash is inputted, Bucciarati will instantly change directions towards his target if locked-on, or to the closest opponent otherwise. He may also instantly cancel the skill with "I'll finish you from afar!" while moving.
    • In a similar fashion, and under a skill of the same name, Bucciarati is able to use his zippers to carry himself up to certain walls and columns around the stage. This grants him the ability to reach different areas of stages without needing to travel the conventional routes, or simply avoid attacks. Holding this activating button will allow him to climb higher, and he is able to attack from his vantage points.
  • EX - Saw it coming miles away!: The moving zipper's speed and homing capabilities are given a boost, and Bucciarati is granted super armor through the entire attack's duration.
  • EX - ARI ARI ARI ARI: Sticky Fingers throws 7 more punches, dealing more damage. Bucciarati is invincible until the attack begins and is granted super armor through the entire attack's duration thereafter.
  • Trait - A tiny stroke of fate that heaven allowed: When Bucciarati's health hits zero for the first time, he will be granted a portion of a health gauge to continue on with. Bucciarati is granted super armor on every action, such as activating skills, Normal and Powerful Attacks, Homing Dashes and Homing Dash Attacks, and his Style Action. Once his health drops to zero once more, Bucciarati will then be formally Retired.
JoJolities
  • I'll finish you from afar.: Bucciarati must use "I'll finish you from afar!" 3 times. (200 Points)
  • How about it? My skills make you shiver, no?: Bucciarati must trap opponents using his Style Action twice. (200 Points)
  • If you can predict my movements, then...!: Bucciarati must connect "Saw it coming miles away!" 3 times. (300 Points)
  • So I gotta beat you, huh?: Bucciarati must successfully execute 5 Combo Breakers. (500 Points)
  • Arrivederci!: Bucciarati must Retire an opponent with a Dual Heat Attack. (800 Points)
Dual Heat Attacks
  • Solo - Arrivederci!: Identical to its performance in All-Star Battle, though executes faster for the sake of brevity.
  • With Giorno - Double Arrivederci: Giorno has Gold Experience punch the opponent away and onto the ground before Bucciarati has Sticky Fingers place a zipper on the ground. The zipper rapidly closes and the two ride it to close the distance on their target before they leap into the air. In unison, both Bucciarati and Giorno inform the opponent of their resolve before Sticky Fingers and Gold Experience pummel their target while letting out their Stand Cries. The two Stands glow with blue and golden auras, respectively, and finish their assault with a joint uppercut that sends the opponent high into the air, while both users bid them an "Arrivederci".

Bucciarati is given an alternate costume, based on his appearance as a child. His bangs are parted in the middle, and his hair lacks its usual accessories and top braid. He sports a simpler, more casual zipperless outfit consisting of a long, low cut v-neck shirt and open jacket over it, and wearing plain pants that do not have the spoon-like symbols that are signature to his default appearance.

Tournament

He is paired with Trish in the Eyes of Heaven Tournament, having been placed in the F Block series of battles to be incorporated into the main Tournament. They defeated Diavolo and Joshu Higashikata in the first round, and Part 4 Jotaro Kujo and Diego Brando (Parallel World) in the second, being successfully introduced into the main branch. In the semifinals, they defeated Giorno and Mista in the first round but were ultimately eliminated by Jolyne Cujoh and Gyro Zeppeli in the second.
