Wamuu (ワムウ, Wamū) was confirmed for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer.[1] He was also 1 of 15 playable characters during the Evo 2022 Demo in August 5.[3]
Although his moveset remains fundamentally the same as his from All-Star Battle, a few tweaks have been made to both balance the character and fit him into the overall gameplay changes that All-Star Battle R brought along.
As Wamuu's one and only voice actor, debuting in the Battle Tendency anime adaptation and later voicing Wamuu again in All-Star Battle, Akio Otsuka reprises his role in this game as well. As with the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Wamuu were either added or re-recorded.

Jumping Medium Attack

Wamuu makes a horn out of wind and attacks downward with it in a multi-hitting attack while airborne. Because the horn deals more hits the longer it is in contact with the opponent, it will do more damage to other airborne opponents than it will grounded ones. This attack does more damage if Wamuu is in "Wind Mode" or if "Vapor Barrier" or "I shall see with the wind." is active.

Wind Mode

Wamuu can activate or deactivate Wind Mode, causing the damage for all his moves to increase as well as granting some skills projectile invincibility via turning Wamuu invisible during them. Wamuu's jump arc is also shortened, but the speed of his jump is increased. While active, attacking, guarding, and taking damage will not build Heart Heat. The mode can be canceled at any time by inputting . If Wamuu is knocked down, this mode will be forcibly deactivated. It will also automatically be deactivated if Wamuu uses his HHA.
Vapor Barrier
+ for 1 HH ON GROUND
Expending one stock of the Heart Heat Gauge grants Wamuu access to Vapor Barrier, increasing Wammu's damage and turning him invisible, which makes him immune to most non-HHA/GHA projectiles. The only exception is Caesar Zeppeli's "Bubble Cutter" and "Gliding Bubble Cutter" skills. While active, attacking, guarding, and taking damage will not build Heart Heat, but Wamuu can execute his HHA for no cost. However, doing so will immediately end the Mode. This mode will also be forcibly canceled if Wamuu is knocked down. Until this mode is canceled, Wamuu cannot activate "Wind Mode" or "I shall see with the wind.".

Expending two stocks of the Heart Heat Gauge, Wamuu blinds himself and reveals his horn for the rest of the match. By doing so, his gains chip damage on his normals and access to "Whooosh!". His skills will also deal more damage and gain or lose various effects. This mode cannot be canceled, meaning it will carry over between rounds and will lock Wamuu out of activating "Wind Mode" and "Vapor Barrier".

Wamuu steps forward and delivers a heavy lariat that crumples the opponent if it connects. This command normal has Super Armor until the attack finishes. If "Wind Mode" or "Vapor Barrier" is active, the damage dealt to the Guard Gauge is increased. This is true for when "I shall see with the wind." is active as well. However, this mode will also cause the attack to deal more damage overall and the Super Armor's duration will be increased. (Comboable)

Rumble Mode (ゴゴゴモード, Gogogo Mōdo)
Activates when under 30% health
This mode is automatically activated once Wamuu falls below 30% health. It increases his attack power, as well as the rate at which the Heart Heat Gauge rises, while also decreasing the rate at which the Guard Gauge drops.

Wamuu leans forward and spins the wires on his headgear into a vortex to pull opponents in and hit them. Rapidly tapping will increase the duration of the attack. The last hit will launch the opponent. This move has the added effect of nullifying incoming non-GHA projectiles, but it cannot cancel normals or specials like other skills can. If "Wind Mode", "Vapor Barrier", or "I shall see with the wind." is active, this skill will deal more damage (chip, guard, and overall), duration of the move, and increase the pulling force. While the skill can pull an opponent from any distance, if they are far enough away, they will recovery from the initial pull before they reach Wamuu, allowing for them to possibly punish him as the move cannot be Flash Canceled.

Wamuu performs an near-instantaneous upward reverse kick augmented by the wind that knocks the opponent into the air. The number of hits and damage increase in order, but the greater the increase, the longer the recovery. While the variant can not be Flash Canceled, it has invincibility on startup. This move functions as an anti-air and reversal. (Flash Cancel comboable) While "Wind Mode" is active, Wamuu will become invisible until the recovery. If "I shall see with the wind." is active, this skill will gain additional hits. All three of Wamuu's modes will increase the damage of this skill.

Wamuu somersaults in-place and unleashes a downward swipe that knocks the opponent down. If hit, the opponent will crumple to the ground. The distance forward Wamuu moves and the damage dealt increases in order, but the greater the increase, the longer recovery. If used in the air, Wamuu's all of his momentum will be stopped, though he will fall an increasing amount based on what button is inputted. Wamuu performs a slow forward flip, and while this does do nothing by itself except act as a feint or cancel, a second press of the attack button during this initial animation makes him launch into a flying kick forward. If it connects, a second kick sends his opponent flying across the stage. The distance Wamuu flips and the damage dealt increase in order, but the greater the increase, the longer the recovery. If only the flip is performed, Wamuu will be invincible during the recovery. This recovery can also be cancelled by normals or "Go for the throat and lungs!". If "Wind Mode" is active, Wamuu will turn invisible during the later half the flip. If "I shall see with the wind." is active, the damage done to the Guard Gauge will increase. All three of Wamuu's modes will increase distance opponents are knocked back, the wallbounce effect, and damage. The skill will also be knocked down into a hard knockdown.

The Heart Heat Gauge no longer depletes while this Mode is active. As such, it can only be ended if Wamuu is knocked down or inputs again.
Vapor Barrier

This install no longer uses the HH gauge as a timer, and as such, the mode will not time out. The only way it can be canceled is if Wamuu is knocked down or if he activates his HHA. Because of this, Wamuu no longer has Super Armor while this install is active. When Wamuu uses his HHA during this mode, it will cost him no Heart Heat instead of emptying the rest of his HH gauge, regardless of the number of stocks he currently has. Additionally, the translation for this install has been changed. Previously it was "Wind Protector" instead of "Vapor Barrier".

This flip portion of this skill executes faster than it did in All-Star Battle. Wamuu also covers more distance while flipping now. While "Wind Mode" is active, Wamuu is no longer invisible for the startup. He is only invisible during the later half of the flip animation now. Additionally, the translation for this skill has changed. Previously it was "The power of flexibility" in place of "He bent backwards!".

The startup on this skill, especially on the and variants, is longer now. As a trade off, Wamuu moves farther when he slides forward and deals more hits, with all variants having an increased and standardized number. Instead of launching the opponent away, this skill crumples the opponent as well. The skill also deals significantly higher damage to the Guard Gauge than it did in All-Star Battle.
Besides Heart Heat Attacks and Great Heat Attacks, the only projectiles in the game that can hit Wamuu while his "Vapor Barrier" is active are Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli's "Bubble Cutter" and "Gliding Bubble Cutter" skills.
Dialogue
Outside of All-Star Battle Mode, Wamuu has unique interaction dialogue for both his match entrances and victories when facing certain characters.

Wamuu's theme is A True Warrior (真の格闘者, Shin no Kakutōsha), and can be unlocked in-game by landing the "Cat Stance" skill as Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in All-Star Battle Mode's Caesar vs Wamuu Boss Battle.
