Summary
Jotaro, after surviving DIO's attempt on his life, surprises the elated DIO by stopping time for the first time, freezing DIO in place and proving that the parallels drawn between their Stands have eluded to a greater similarity all along. Jotaro describes the time stop's effect on others, comparing it to drowning and being pushed further down. He kicks DIO's weakened legs just as time resumes, shattering them completely and sending DIO cascading across the ground. Due to his noble nature and not wanting to strike a man while he's down, he waits for DIO to get up before ending him. DIO, unfazed by Jotaro's words, reminds himself that victory is the one true thing he desires. He blinds Jotaro with his bloody legs and prepares for a final strike. Jotaro does the same and the two collide. Star Platinum's hand breaks, to Jotaro's dismay and DIO's joy. However, The World's leg shatters, shocking both. The crack in the leg travels up the body, sending a powerful ripple up through The World's figure and shattering it. The effects of which are mirrored on its user DIO, finally killing him and ending his 100+ year grudge against the Joestar family.
