Rudol von Stroheim (ルドル・フォン・シュトロハイム, Rudoru fon Shutorohaimu) was officially announced as the second playable DLC character for All-Star Battle R on January 19, 2023,[1] and was released for all to play on February 3. Like the rest of the first four paid DLC characters, he is included in the game's first season pass, and therefore the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of the game as well; owners of either gained early access to the character on February 1, 2023.[2]
Unlike in Eyes of Heaven, Stroheim's default costume is the same in both Western and Japanese versions of the game, and any direct mention of Nazis or explicit Nazi imagery have been altered or removed.
Having voiced Stroheim in both the Battle Tendency anime and Eyes of Heaven, Atsushi Imaruoka reprises his role in this game as well. As with the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Stroheim were either added or re-recorded.
Stroheim has 1000 health and uses the unique Best Science in the World (世界一の科学力, Sekai Ichi no Kagaku-ryoku) Battle Style, which allows him access to a variety of skills utilizing his cyborg body. Notably, Stroheim is able to switch his primary weapon between a 600 rpm heavy machine gun in his chest and an array of ultraviolet lamps mounted on his shoulders.

This ability can only be attempted while Stroheim has a minimum of two stocks of Heart Heat, and consumes one stock upon activation. Stroheim pulls the pin on a Stielhandgranate and hugs it while lying prone. After a long delay, the grenade explodes, blasting Stroheim backwards and instantly reducing his health to 1. However, if the opponent is caught they will also be blown away while taking a colossal amount of damage, capable of KO'ing almost any character from half health. The explosion may even connect with them while they are downed.
From the moment he initiates the attack, Stroheim becomes immune to Throws. Once he reaches prone position, he naturally low-profiles most attacks in the game and additionally gains passive Super Armor. As a result, he can no longer be interrupted by attacks aside from command Throws, HHA, and GHA. After a successful detonation, Stroheim's Heart Heat Gauge will be permanently disabled for the rest of the match.
A gauge above Stroheim's Heart Heat Gauge displays how much energy he has left for UV Laser Mode. It fills gradually while in Heavy Machine Gun Mode and is instantly replenished to full upon connecting with his HHA. While in UV Laser Mode, it gradually drains overtime and automatically switches Stroheim back to Heavy Machine Gun Mode when depleted.
Rumble Mode (ゴゴゴモード, Gogogo Mōdo)
Activates under 30% health
This mode is automatically activated once Stroheim falls below 30% health. It increases his attack power, as well as the rate at which the Heart Heat Gauge rises, while also decreasing the rate at which the Guard Gauge drops.

Stroheim pulls the pin on a Stielhandgranate and tosses it into the air in a slow arc. It then detonates and creates a small explosion upon contact with either the opponent or the ground. The range the grenade is thrown increases in order of , inversely affecting his recovery speed. This attack deals immense Guard damage, making it useful when trying to Guardbreak the opponent. While in UV Laser Mode, Stroheim does not have access to any skills. However, all of his normal attacks are replaced with UV Laser beam attacks which carry higher damage and range than most other normals in the game. Said attacks inflict additional silver damage unto the opponent; while silver damage can be regenerated over time, it will disappear if the opponent is damaged again. In addition, they will bypass melee-based counter abilities.
Stroheim quickly fires a UV laser from his eye straight-forward a moderate distance, dealing rapid damage that is partially silver. The version has greater range but longer recovery. (Comboable)
As these function as normal attacks, while standing or crouching the attacks can be chained in order of , and chained into "UV laser!" or even Stroheim's GHA.

Stroheim fires UV lasers in a fan formation from the emitters on his shoulders at a downward angle, dealing rapid damage that is partially silver. In commemoration of the release of Stroheim as the 2nd paid DLC character for ASBR, the Japanese ASBR Twitter account hosted a giveaway of 20 sets of 3 ASBR Battle Tendency badges,[6] although only to be delivered to addresses in Japan.[7] The badges in question contain the ASBR render images of Kars, Joseph Joestar, and Stroheim respectively.
The campaign started on February 3, 2023, and lasted until February 19 at 11:59pm JST. To enter the giveaway lottery, users only had to:
Retweet the tweet that announced the giveaway in the first place.
However, Twitter accounts set to private were illegible for the giveaway. Unfollowing the ASBR Twitter account before the end of the giveaway also deemed users illegible. Furthermore, attempting to join the giveaway with multiple accounts would have caused all of those accounts to lose their eligiblity to win.[7]
The giveaway was directly implemented by Bandai Namco themselves, with no third party involvement, and the winners of the giveaway were notified via Twitter DMs. Said winners were then announced sometime in early March 2023.[7]
