Parallel World Diego (並行世界から来たディエゴ, Heikō Sekai kara Kita Diego), along with THE WORLD, was confirmed for All-Star Battle R as the fourth paid, playable DLC character on May 31, 2023,[1] and is slated for released on June 16, 2023.[2] Like the first three paid DLC characters, he is included inside the game's first Season Pass, and therefore also the Digital Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition.[1]

Carried on from Eyes of Heaven, Parallel Diego's name is localized as "Alternate World Diego" in the English localizations of All-Star Battle R, differing from what his Japanese name would suggest being translated as.


As the voice actor for Parallel World Diego, among other iterations of Dio Brando, since Eyes of Heaven, Takehito Koyasu reprises his role in All-Star Battle R as well. Like with the majority of the roster that have returning voice actors from Eyes of Heaven, voicelines for Parallel World Diego were added and re-recorded.


Gameplay

Parallel World Diego uses the both the Mounted (騎乗, Kijō) and Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Styles, fighting foes with Silver Bullet and Scary Monsters. During a fight, he can use several different attacks that were featured in Steel Ball Run. Unlike most other characters that use the Stand Battle Style, Parallel World Diego does not summon and dismiss another entity when utilizing his stand.

As a Steel Ball Run character, three parts of the Holy Corpse will slowly appear scattered on the stage when Parallel World Diego is played. He can pick up these pieces to receive progressively better blessings that boost his performance in combat. If Parallel World Diego is played against Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, Diego Brando, Funny Valentine, or another Parallel World Diego, both players will have to fight over the three corpse parts as no extras will spawn in.

Parallel World Diego can summon his horse, Silver Bullet, to mount it, or dismount and send it away, shifting his movement and available abilities. Silver Bullet improves his basic mobility, attack range, and power. However, he loses the ability to Stylish Guard and will be forcibly dismounted if he is hit by a move that hard knockdowns. Parallel Diego's Guard Gauge will not recover while he is Mounted.
If the Style input (ASBS.png) is chained from normals while unmounted, 'Quick Mount' is triggered at the cost of Heart Heat, whereby Parallel Diego mounts Silver Bullet much faster, and the act of flipping onto his horse can knock the opponent into the air. This provides an easy and quicker method of mounting as well as transitioning Parallel Diego's unmounted combo into a mounted one.

If Parallel Diego has a minimum of one and a half stocks of the Heart Heat Gauge, he can use his signature Stand ability "THE WORLD!". If the activating three-second animation plays uninterrupted, Parallel Diego will stop time for 3.4 ~ 6.9 seconds depending on how much of the HHG he has. All animations, including the HHG flame and the countdown on the battle timer, will temporarily cease, and the opponent in frozen in place and completely unable to act. Damage dealt to the opponent that is not a Throw, HHA, or GHA is reduced, but the opponent is otherwise absolutely vulnerable. When the ability ends and time resumes, the opponent will suffer all damage dealt to them at once. Any knives thrown using "I'll skewer you!" hang in the air.

Parallel Diego may use his HHA or GHA with impunity if he has enough of the HHG left to do so. He is even capable of hitting opponents that were down when the ability was activated, 'resetting' them into a standing position once hit. The ability is best used with normal attacks in mind in order to deal the most damage within the stopped time, as they execute quickly and their damage reduction within stopped time is insubstantial.
If fighting against other Time Stop users, Parallel Diego can use this ability to move within the other fighter's stopped time, and may even outlast his opponent if their HHG runs out first.

Holy Corpse

Parallel Diego receives a new blessing for every Holy Corpse Part he holds, but if successfully knocked down, drops the part and loses said blessing.
  1. Movement speed is increased while in User Mode.
  2. Two gasoline traps set by "My trial is to conquer and kill at all costs." can be deployed simultaneously.
  3. The Guard Gauge's recovery speed is increased and Parallel Diego can now recover Guard Gauge while Mounted.

Parallel Diego throws a knife horizontally outward. Flight speed increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order, but as does vulnerability. This skill can be canceled into other skills.

Parallel Diego throws a can of gasoline, with it spilling across the ground once it hits it. The distance the can travels increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order, but as does vulnerability. The puddle of gasoline will disappear either after it hits an opponent or after a set period of time. While this skill deals no damage, if the opponent is hit by the projectile or the puddle of gasoline left on the ground, they become inflicted with Gasoline. They can rid themselves of the effect if they hit Parallel Diego, otherwise the effect will end after a period of time.

Parallel Diego throws a spread of lit matches while leaping backwards. The number of matches and the distance Parallel Diego leaps backward increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order. If a match hits the opponent while they are inflicted with Gasoline, it explodes, sending the opponent flying. If they are guarding when they are hit, it reduces the Guard Gauge more than usual. Parallel Diego can also be damaged by the explosion.

Parallel Diego deploys a wall of barbed wire. The distance away from Parallel Diego the wall is produced increases in ASBL.pngASBM.pngASBH.png order. If the opponent touches the wall, they will be bound. The wall will vanish either after an opponent or projectile hits it or after a set amount of time.

For the price of 1 bar of Heart Heat Gauge, Parallel Diego can increase his movement speed while also gaining Super Armor from the start of the animation of a normal attack until its active animation ends. While this effect is active, Parallel Diego will not gain any Heart Heat. This effect can also be prematurely ended if Parallel Diego switches into User Mode, performs the input again, or uses an HHA/GHA.

If not already mounted, Parallel Diego mounts Silver Bullet, who then body slams the opponent. He then dismounts and stops time. While THE WORLD approaches the opponent, Parallel Diego pulls out a revolver and slams a bullet into the revolver's hammer before loading said bullet. As Parallel Diego announces that time will resume, he fires the bullet. As the bullet flies through the air, THE WORLD throws a punch, resulting in both of them hitting the opponent at the same time, which sends them flying.

Parallel World Diego's theme is ASBR Music.png Me Time (オレだけの時間だぜ, Ore Dake no Jikan daze), and and is automatically unlocked when purchasing Parallel World Diego's DLC.

Parallel World Diego's Theme

Its name is a reference to some of the first words he says to Johnny Joestar when he finally reveals himself in Chapter 90 of Steel Ball Run, the whole line being "THE WORLD! Time is mine and mine alone!"
