All-Star Battle (PS3)

Jolyne makes her playable debut on the PS3 title. She was confirmed for the game along with Ermes, Josuke and Okuyasu. Most of her moveset involves utilizing Stone Free's ability to generate a multitude of medium-long ranged attacks.

As one of the mass majority of playable characters in the game with the "Stand" Style, Jolyne can turn Stone Free on/off in order to change movesets, and attack in conjunction with her Stand using the Stand Rush ability. Jolyne has 1000 HP.

Jolyne turns around and performs a downward reverse kick, before summoning Stone Free to do the same. The second hit by Stone Free is a middle attack that knocks the opponent down. A command normal that can chain into any of Jolyne's skills. (Comboable)

While in mid-air, Stone Free uses string to immediately pull Jolyne to the ground, forward, backward, or directly downward, allowing her to attack instantly upon landing. This skill is known as a "fast-fall" and can be used to quickly get within melee range of the opponent, or evade anti-air attacks.
Most importantly, this skill offers Jolyne a method to perform a high-low mix-up attack; An opponent that expects an aerial attack and accordingly tries to defend while standing can be met with her suddenly landing and delivering a crouching, low attack. Inversely, the threat of such action can make the opponent wary of the sudden low attack, potentially rendering them more vulnerable to a simple aerial strike.

Jolyne and Stone Free shoot string upward, before pulling themselves up (regardless of whether or not the stage has a physical ceiling), forward, backward, or directly upward. This allows Jolyne to cover large amounts of ground, evade easier, or alter the timing and possible ranges of her jump. This skill can be performed after jumping to further increase Jolyne's height, or be chained into from normal attacks on the ground to safely and quickly end attack strings. "Stringing me for a ride!" cannot be used in the same jump that this move is performed.

Jolyne sends out a string a long distance along the ground. If it makes contact with the opponent, Jolyne wraps them up before summoning Stone Free to pummel them, sending them flying. This skill is a low attack that cannot be blocked crouching.

Jolyne weaves together a wall of string as a trap that damages the opponent if they come in contact with it. It will also intercept most incoming projectiles. Jolyne is able to move through the barrier without disarming it. (Comboable)

Jolyne readies a string from her finger down to her shoe in front of her as a trigger. If the opponent strikes her with a non-Throw/HHA/GHA, she will automatically Stylish Evade, potentially creating an opening for retaliation. If Heavy (ASBH.png) is inputted, the move instead becomes a feint; no string will be visible and Jolyne will be able to act instantly, allowing her to leave cautious opponents open to attack. Stone Free rapidly punches forward. The attack can be held to delay its release, and can be used in mid-air, attacking at a downward angle. The effect of this skill is influenced by the attack button inputted. A Stand Rush skill that Jolyne can disconnect from to attack the opponent while it is executing. (Flash Cancel comboable)

  • Light (ASBL.png): The barrage is delivered normally, and sends the opponent flying. When used in mid-air, this variation can hit a downed opponent.
  • Medium (ASBM.png) or Heavy (ASBH.png): Stone Free unravels its arms to greatly extend its range, but the attack no longer knocks the opponent off their feet.

Stone Free delivers a straight punch at an upward angle, unraveling its arm to greatly extend its range. If it connects, the opponent is knocked into the air. This move functions as an anti-air, and has a follow-up.

Stone Free continues the attack by grabbing the opponent in mid-air and forcefully swinging downwards, slamming them into the ground.

Jolyne pulls out a baseball as Stone Free tightly wraps its string around it. Stone Free takes the ball and throws it, and if the opponent is hit, it will follow up by rapidly hitting them with the ball exactly 1,000 times, returning the ball to its hand via the string each throw. Jolyne catches the ball in her hand after the final hit and poses (a reference to Miraschon's defeat).
In the English localization, this HHA is renamed "Balls deep!", and Jolyne initiates the HHA asking, "How deep can I go?"

Jolyne throws out a fishnet-like mass of string. If the opponent is caught, she tightens the net around them to completely wrap them up, before moving in and directly beating them with a few melee strikes herself. She then summons Stone Free to pummel them with a rapid flurry of punches and kicks, finishing with a heavy punch that sends them flying as the string unravels.

Gameplay Overview

Jolyne is a rushdown character who specializes in highly advanced mobility and mix-up potential. Wielding both a fast-fall skill and a command jump skill that can function as a pseudo-double jump, she is capable of a variety of possible jump arcs. These in turn lead into many possible approach, evasion, and mix-up and cross-up options once she leaves the ground, and even methods to render attack strings safe and extend her combos and offense. Possessing long-ranged normal attacks and skills and a trap gives Jolyne multiple ways to battle her opponent from far outside most characters' effective ranges.

Jolyne's most major flaw is a lack of an anti-air/reversal attack while in Stand Off, meaning she is vulnerable to aerial approaches and usually forced on the defensive if she does not have Stone Free active should the opponent get within range to threaten her, although a parry-like skill helps to alleviate this. She also deals less damage than most characters, and also requires much greater skill to deliver longer, effective combos.

Jolyne can battle at many ranges and is highly effective on both offense and defense as a result, but is most dangerous at close range where her versatile movement options allow her to confuse opponents and easily exploit attack openings. When used to her full extent, she never leaves herself open to punishment, but is always leaving the opponent guessing what angle she'll attack from next.

Miscellaneous

If Jolyne fights against Jotaro, Jotaro merely asks if she's a new Stand user (referencing the nature of Part 3 where Jotaro and his friends face off against countless Stand users sent to kill them on their journey to Egypt). In return, Jolyne shockingly questions about how he could have gotten so young.

All-Star Battle R (Various)

Jolyne Cujoh (空条徐倫, Kūjō Jorin) was confirmed for All-Star Battle R during the game's initial announcement trailer[2], being the very first character to appear. Jolyne is one of the four characters playable in the game's Early Access Demo alongside Jonathan Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, and DIO. She will also be 1 of 15 playable characters during the Evo 2022 Demo coming August 5th[3].

Her moveset is fundamentally the same as hers from All-Star Battle, with a few tweaks being made to both balance the character and fit her into the overall gameplay tweaks that All-Star Battle R brought.


Replacing Jolyne's previous voice actor of Miyuki Sawashiro now is Fairouz Ai, who voices Jolyne in the anime. Because of this, and like the majority of the game's roster, voicelines for Jolyne were either added or re-recorded.

Costumes

Like the rest of the roster currently featured in their anime adaptation of their Part, Jolyne, by default, wears the same outfit as in the Stone Ocean anime adaptation. The colors of her clothes and Stand have also been changed to match the anime.

As part of the Digital Deluxe Edition[4] of the game, Jotaro – as with Jonathan, Joseph, Josuke and Giorno – receives an exclusive costume based on his white outfit in the JOESTAR The Inherited Soul event.

Additionally, those who pre-order the game will receive a bonus Green Dolphin Street State Prison Jacket costume for Jolyne[5].

Jolyne uses the Stand (スタンド, Sutando) Battle Style, fighting foes with Stone Free.

ON GROUND

A two-stock assist. Jolyne appears and weaves together a wall of string as a temporary trap that damages the opponent if they come in contact with it. It will also intercept most incoming projectiles. The player-character is able to move through the barrier without disarming it just as Jolyne herself could.

Jolyne jumps into the enemy, punching them with Stone Free and knocking them back.

The second kick now knocks the opponent off their feet, offering alternate combo routes, but is no longer a middle attack and can now be blocked standing.

Sweet dreams, creep!

The attack speed and travel distance difference across the attack button inputs are more pronounced, with Heavy (ASBH.png) now causing Jolyne to advance much further.

The best angle to strike from!

The string can no longer be extended by holding the button input. Instead, the range and speed of the attack are now determined by button input, with Light (ASBL.png) traveling a short distance but executing quickly, and Heavy (ASBH.png) traveling a long distance but executing slowly.

Don't need strength to block with string!

Instead of Stylish Evading, Jolyne now counterattacks with an instantaneous version of "Sweet dreams, creep!" upon a successful trigger, which can also be Flash-Canceled, as well as still be able to trigger Rush Mode. The attack button inputted determines the length of the active counter period but inversely affects start-up speed. This change keeps this skill from becoming redundant with the new universal Stylish Guard mechanic. Note: Heavy input (ASBH.png) is no longer a feint, and is now simply a slower but longer active counter.

So you're the enemy, huh?

All versions of the attack now knock the opponent off their feet rather than only the Light input. When used in the air, the attack now ground-bounces the opponent on the final hit instead of inflicting simple stagger. The attack can no longer be delayed when used on the ground, but can be delayed for a longer period than before while used in the air. Note: Light input (ASBL.png) can no longer hit a downed opponent when used in the air.

Don't wait, just attack!

The attack speed and strength difference across the attack button inputs are more pronounced.
Note: Heavy input has been completely altered. The attack now comes out very slowly, but now gives Jolyne invulnerability during its start-up period. This allows it to function as a reversal in addition to an anti-air attack but also renders it more difficult to connect with due its slowed speed. It is also now the only version that can utilize "I won't cut my string yet!" as a follow-up attack.

I won't cut my string yet!

This follow-up skill is no longer a manual input, and now only activates automatically when the Heavy version of "Don't wait, just attack!" connects. This removes it as a usable follow-up to the Light and Medium versions of the attack, but otherwise eliminates the execution necessary to perform it.

Eyes of Heaven (PS3/PS4)

Jolyne was confirmed as a playable character for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven alongside Ermes, Pucci, and Weather Report.

As a Stand User, Jolyne is one of many characters with wildly varied abilities that grant her uniqueness in battle.

  • Style Action - Stone Free!: Jolyne extends a string above her head, before pulling herself into the air and backwards, creating distance and aiding in evasion. If used in mid-air, she instead extends the string forward before pulling herself towards wherever it lands, allowing her to gain more distance in the air. If locked-on, she will aim the string towards her target, paralyzing opponents that touch it and automatically pulling herself towards them for an attack opening. Jolyne is invulnerable once she begins moving.
  • String Barrier: Jolyne deploys a thin net of string as a trap that will damage and paralyze opponents if they come in contact with it, leaving them open to further attack. Jolyne takes a very small amount of white (recoverable) damage upon the net being triggered.
  • I can consider you my enemy, right?: Stone Free unleashes a barrage of 8 punches, augmenting its range by using string to extend its arms. The final hit sends opponents caught flying. The skill's damage is proportional to the range it connects at; the farther the opponent is when they are hit by the punches, the more damage will be dealt.
  • You're no match for my Stone Free.: Jolyne leaps and somersaults forward into the air, with Stone Free holding onto a string attached to the floor. If an opponent touches the string before Jolyne lands, Stone Free will unleash a downward barrage of 9 punches, the final hit knocking the target down. Jolyne is briefly invulnerable until she reaches the height of her jump.
  • Bring it on right until the end!: Jolyne converts her torso into a Möbius strip made of string (visualized by a blue electricity around her), reducing all incoming damage with the exception of projectiles, certain special skills by opponents, and DHAs. If she is hit by C-Moon's attacks, the Möbius strip will be undone in order to nullify the effects of its power, protecting Jolyne from its "inside-out" status effect. Jolyne cannot activate this skill while Burning Mode is active, and activating Burning Mode will inversely undo the Möbius strip.
  • EX - String Barrier: The skill executes quicker.
  • EX - I can consider you my enemy, right?: The skill executes quicker and can be canceled via Sidestepping.
  • You have the Ghost Lighter, don't you?: This skill is only available when Jolyne has only a single health gauge left, and can be used only once per battle. When activated, Jolyne uses a lighter to set herself on fire, activating Burning Mode. While in Burning Mode, Jolyne will slowly lose health and has decreased defense, taking more incoming damage. However, she receives a large damage boost to all attacks except for skills that exclusively use string, and DHAs, and gains super armor while attacking. Opponents struck by Jolyne will catch fire as well.

  • String... Is my soul controlling this?: Jolyne must use her Style Action twice. (200 Points)
  • I'll catch you in 3D!: Jolyne must trap opponents with "String Barrier" 3 times. (200 Points)
  • A Möbius strip...: Jolyne must use "Bring it on right until the end!". (300 Points)
  • I sense hope in the way you think...: Jolyne must perform a Dual Combo Finish. (500 Points)
  • I'll knock you unconscious...: Jolyne must Retire an opponent with a Dual Heat Attack. (800 Points)

Dual Heat Attacks

  • Solo - I'll knock you unconscious.: Jolyne runs up to the opponent and kicks them off their feet in unison with Stone Free. She then begins rapidly kicking them back-to-back with her Stand. Jolyne finishes the attack by having Stone Free deliver a punch to the face that sends the opponent flying.
  • With Ermes - We're gonna beat your ass!: Ermes uses Kiss' stickers to create multiple arms for Jolyne and Stone Free. Jolyne reprimands Ermes, knowing that the stickers' removal will cause her pain. Ermes reminds Jolyne that they are in the middle of a fight, forcing Stone Free to angrily pummel the opponent with an extra set of fists and blowing them back as Ermes laughs.
  • With Weather - The momentum's on our side!: Stone Free assaults the opponent as Weather Report's Stand creates an opposing gale that keeps the opponent in place. Stone Free's fists ultimately overpower the gale and the target is sent flying into Weather Report's Stand, setting them on fire via friction.
  • With Part 3 Jotaro - The Perfect Angle: Stone Free and Star Platinum send the opponent into the air with a dual uppercut, before Jolyne wraps them in a cocoon made of Stone Free's string. After Jotaro confirms the best angle to hit, they pummel it with both of their Stands.

As with other Stone Ocean characters returning from All-Star Battle (except Pucci), Jolyne's default and secondary alternate costumes swapped their places; her default costume in ASB is now her secondary costume and vice versa.

Storyline

In the post-credits of the new JoJo timeline where most of the fallen allies are now alive and well, a younger Jolyne appears in the new Part 4 timeline, in a retelling of its first chapter where her father meets Koichi. In this new timeline, she is brought along by Jotaro to Morioh. While Jotaro is introducing himself to Koichi, asking about a Josuke Higashikata, Jolyne appears running to her father and interrupting the conversation to hug him. She is then advised by Jotaro to be careful crossing the street and to not stray too far away from him as she is still a child, or else her mother will be worried.

Tournament

She is paired with Gyro Zeppeli in the Eyes of Heaven Tournament, beating Muhammad Avdol and Koichi Hirose in the first round and Jotaro and Vanilla Ice in the second. Making it to the semifinals, they beat Jonathan Joestar and DIO in the first round and Bruno Bucciarati and Trish Una in the second. Ultimately, they were defeated in the final round by Kars and Pet Shop, taking second place.

Jump Ultimate Stars (NINTENDO DS)

Jolyne appears as a support and help character. Her 2-Koma support summons her to use Stone Free's strings on every nearby opponent, stunning them. Her 3-Koma support is an "ORAORAORA!!!" rush by Stone Free. Her 1-Koma support boosts special gauge generation when health is low. Jolyne has an ally boost with Jotaro.
