The Higashikata Residence (東方邸, Higashikata-tei) is a recurring location featured in the fourth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Diamond is Unbreakable. It is the home of Josuke Higashikata and his family, situated in the Japanese town of Morioh.

Description

Located in the southern suburbs of Morioh, the Higashikata home is a Western-style house. The main structure is three stories, with an attached two-car garage left of the main entrance, and an additional entrance found in the homes kitchen. While the home is not explored in full, its known rooms include a living room, a lounge, a kitchen/dining room, a laundry room, at least one bathroom, and a memorial room. The memorial room, which is located on the second floor[2], is used to remember Ryohei Higashikata after his murder. Though they're never seen in detail, in preparation of his infiltration of the home, Anjuro Katagiri made holes in the homes roofing so his Stand could enter with the rain.[3]

The home is noted to be down the street from the Nijimura residence[4].

History

Josuke Higashikata! Meets Angelo

Anjuro, angry over his failed assassination attempt on Tomoko.

On a spring day in Morioh, Tomoko Higashikata is in her garage when she is visited by the criminal Anjuro Katagiri, disguised as a milkman. Anjuro attempts to kill her by hiding his Stand, Aqua Necklace, inside a milk bottle, but his plan is foiled when Tomoko notices it has a broken seal. Disgruntled, Anjuro swaps the bottles and leaves, later having his Stand infiltrate the home through its plumbing. While talking to Jotaro over the phone, Josuke sees Aqua Necklace on his mother’s lip, but manages to trap the Stand by punching through his mother and breaking a bottle with Crazy Diamond, healing her and imprisoning the Stand. Josuke waits for Jotaro to arrive so they can take the Stand somewhere remote. Anjuro spies on the home and notices Ryohei Higashikata arriving, recognizing him as the first cop to ever arrest him. When Josuke leaves to welcome Jotaro, Anjuro disguises Aqua Necklace as Ryohei’s favorite cognac. Josuke returns to find Ryohei dead, with Aqua Necklace escaping. While Josuke attempts to revive his grandfather, Jotaro tells him that no Stand can revive the dead. Josuke vows to avenge his grandfather and protect Morioh in his place.

Anjuro launches his attack on the Higashikata home.

While Tomoko visits family to grieve, Josuke and Jotaro wait inside the home for Anjuro to strike again, unknowing that the criminal is staking out the home. Three days later, when it finally starts raining, Anjuro launches his attack on the home, even managing to land a small attack on Jotaro who was outside. Inside, Josuke and Jotaro find that Anjuro has greatly enhanced Aqua Necklace's mobility by turning on faucets and creating steam in the house via boiling water. The two escape the steam by having Josuke break into a neighboring room and quickly repairing the wall, but this only works momentarily as Anjuro has set up a humidifier. Aqua Necklace finds its way into Josuke's mouth, but he reveals his prepared for this by swallowing a torn up latex glove. Using his Stand, Josuke restores the glove with Aqua Necklace inside and rapidly swings it, sending Anjuro flying onto a nearby street. Josuke and Jotaro leave the house to confront him once and for all.

The Nijimura Brothers

Looking to speak with Josuke, Jotaro knocks on the front door, but is greeted by Tomoko, who believes he is Joseph Joestar. Overcome by emotion, she dramtically cries into his chest, explaining her situation since her father died and repeatedly exclaiming that she loves him. Bothered, he explains to her that he is Joseph's grandson, and that he's looking for Josuke. After Tomoko tells him that Josuke has yet to come home from school, Jotaro leaves, but not before expressing sorrow for her situation and stating that though it would be irresponsible for Joseph to have come too, he knows he would've done anything to protect her.

Red Hot Chili Pepper taunts Josuke, telling him to take the first shot and repeatedly telling him to step closer, but is surprised when Crazy Diamond punches and pummels him before he can react. However, the Stand manages to knock Josuke across the room, before making a swift retreat. Tomoko, who heard a commotion, angrily enters the room, but Josuke manages to set everything back to normal with his Stand before she can notice.
