Cette épée appartenait originellement au chevalier noir Bruford et était nommée Luck (Luck (幸運を)). Après que Jonathan ait vaincu le Zombie du chevalier et restauré son âme humaine, Bruford donne l'épée à Jonathan, qui va la manier contre Dio Brando.
Luck & Pluck est une épée standard à double tranchant avec une lame argentée et une poignée sertie d'or et d'une gemme sur le milieu de la garde. La gemme est colorée en rouge dans l'anime. Il existe aussi une gemme sur le pommeau, la gemme étant colorée en violet dans l'anime. La chappe de Luck & Pluck a un design particulier avec deux branches de métals pointant vers la poignée
Le mot "LUCK" est gravé sur la poignée de l'épée. Plus tard, Bruford y inscrit de son sang la lettre "P" pour écrire "PLUCK", renommant son épée avant de la donner à Jonathan Joestar. Le sang est effacé avant que Jonathan confronte DIO.
Le fourreau de l'épée est un fourreau en cuir classique, décoré avec deux gemmes et un motif de spirale en S sur sa chappe.
Histoire
Jonathan receives Bruford's parting gift
After being revived as a zombie by Dio Brando, Bruford wields the sword Luck against Jonathan Joestar. Jonathan eventually manages to transfer his Ripple through the sword using Metal Silver Overdrive, melting Bruford's arm. The Ripple restores Bruford's human soul as he dies, and Bruford offers his sword to Jonathan out of respect. Before completely disintegrating, Bruford uses his blood to write a "P" beside the "LUCK" engraved on the sword's hilt, changing the sword's name to "PLUCK".[1]Robert E. O. Speedwagon carries it with him as the group enters Dio's castle.
Luck & Pluck destroyed
At Jonathan's request, Speedwagon tosses the sword to him. After seeing how Dire harmed Dio with a Ripple-infused rose, Jonathan imbues the sword with the Ripple, slices Dio's arm off, and cuts Dio vertically in half. However, Dio freezes both Jonathan's hands and the sword, preventing the Ripple from entering his body.[2]
Before Dio can inject his zombie extract into Jonathan, the flames behind Dio begin melting the ice on the tip of Luck & Pluck's blade. Dio quickly notices and snaps the sword in half with his hand.[3]
Le thème de la chance et du courage (donc "Luck & Pluck"), était utilisé dans de vieux romans et nouvelles de la fin du 19ème siècle, notamment dans la série "Luck and Pluck" d'Horatio Alger dans les années 1870.
