I've been searching for you for a long time. And protecting this Arrowhead. I know why I came to Morioh, too. I was waiting for you to get here. All this time.
—Reimi Sugimoto, JORGE JOESTAR Chapter 15: Beyond

Reimi Sugimoto (杉本 玲美, Sugimoto Reimi) is a secondary ally featured in the light novel JORGE JOESTAR. She is an incarnation of the original Reimi Sugimoto, living in Morioh in the 37th universe.

Unlike the original Reimi who is a ghost, the 37th universe's Reimi is actually an autonomous Stand belonging to Penelope de la Rosa, appearing as the main body of Cube House and Arrow Cross House.

Stand

Reimi is the Stand of Penelope de la Rosa, which manifested in the far future, thirty-six universes later, as a way to search for George Joestar after his body disappeared in 1920. The Stand is originally named Cube House, and later evolves into Arrow Cross House after Reimi receives the Arrows.

Cube House

Main article: Cube House

Cube House is a tesseract made of eight square rooms that allows its occupant to move indefinitely in any direction. Falling vertically through four doors in the center of Cube House allows one to travel through time. The walls of the house are controlled by a manager, which is Reimi. Reimi could manipulate the house's walls and seal people beneath the building in a state between life and death for either her own safety or their protection.

History

Background

In the original universe, George Joestar's body disappeared after his battle with Antonio Torres. Due to George's Beyond, Tsukumojuku Kato had teleported George several eons later into the 37th universe in the year 2012 in order to save him from dying.[1] Penelope became desperate after George's presumed death and unconsciously awakened an automatic sentient Stand named Cube House which had the sole purpose of finding George in the 37th universe.[2]

Reimi with her friends

Reimi supposedly manifested at Nishi Akatsuki in Fukui Prefecture, which was the hometown of Jorge Joestar (Universe 37). She and Cube House then moved to Morioh in 2004, waiting for George to reach there. At some point, Reimi was asked by Giorno to protect four Arrows. She accidentally stabbed herself with them in 2007 and developed a Wound, transforming Cube House into Arrow Cross House.[2]

However, Reimi lost her memories after becoming Arrow Cross House. When Rohan Kishibe purchased the house in January 2012, he let Reimi stay there, unknowing that she would not be able to leave the house anyway as she is a part of it. He attempted to use Heaven's Door on her but couldn't find out anything about her past. She became friends with Rohan, Koji Hirose, Muryotaisu Nijimura, and Fukashigi Nijimura.[3] At some point, Rohan found Yoshikage Kira and was almost killed.[4] Reimi's ability allowed her to prevent Bites the Dust by activating on Rohan by keeping Rohan in a suspended state between life and death beneath the Arrow Cross House, disallowing other Stand users from being able to see him. On July 24, Rohan found Tsukumojuku Kato's corpse mounted to a stuffed polar bear in his study room. On that night, Reimi and Rohan mixed up their bedrooms and slept in each other's rooms.[3]

Meeting Jorge

Reimi meets Jorge

Jorge Joestar visits the Arrow Cross House to investigate Tsukumojuku's death. Later, the doorbell rings and Rohan asks Jorge if he can get his visitors to leave. Rohan flees the room, asking Reimi to come with him. At the door, Jorge is greeted by Muryotaisu, Fukashigi, and Koji, who confront Jorge assuming he did something to Rohan. After Fukashigi mentions Kira's name, Reimi uses Arrow Cross House's ability to protect him from exploding like Rohan. Jorge deduces that Reimi is a Stand and asks Rohan to enable him to see Stands with Heaven's Door. Suddenly, Morioh has an earthquake and a chasm opens along its borders.[3]

Morioh's Detachment

Morioh detaches from Japan and travels south at an insane speed as its own island. Reimi reveals that Kira had canceled the effect of Bites the Dust, so Fukashigi and Rohan were now safe and freed from Arrow Cross House's protection. Suspicious of the timing, Rohan wonders if Kira is the one who is moving Morioh. Reimi then holds out a cellphone, showing the others a live stream of an emergency press conference held by Chomaru Bariya and twelve other detectives. Eventually, a loudspeaker in the distance declares that Morioh will have an emergency meeting at the Budogaoka gymnasium and all citizens must attend. Rohan says his temporary goodbyes to Reimi as she could not come with them and the Nijimuras and Koji tease him for flirting with her. After they leave, citizens of Morioh are affected by Mass Hysteria and attempt to burn down Arrow Cross House, so Reimi seals all of them below the house for her own protection. Jorge and the others fly back to the Arrow Cross House on Grand Blue after seeing the house shaking from the conflict.[4]

Passione's Invasion

Passione gang members from Nero Nero Island suddenly invade Morioh, so Jorge and Rohan worry about Reimi's safety. Reimi asserts that Cube House is her most secure place to be, as it is impervious to external threats. With this in mind, Jorge proposes to retreat to Cube House, though Reimi hesitates, uncertain if its original powers remain after it transformed into Arrow Cross House. However, Jorge confirms the coexistence of both structures by unveiling a concealed entrance beneath Rohan's rug. Suggesting the presence of a hidden individual, he enlists Rohan's help for potential weapons and escape tools, receiving a golf club in response. Reimi cautions against entering Cube House, citing the danger posed when more than one person roams its rooms, which could result in one of them being trapped in an alternate universe if they cause any severe contradictions. While Rohan contemplates the potential hazards of their plan, Reimi comforts him with the reminder that, as Cube House's proprietor, she can control the spatial configuration. The trio then cautiously moves down to Cube House's initial chamber, with Jorge pressing on to search the lower levels. His search yields no one, but an alarming shriek from Reimi draws their attention—Tsukumojuku Kato appears on camera. Inexplicably alive, he approaches the lens, chuckles about his life being inextricably linked to Jorge Joestar, and then disappears. Emerging from Cube House, Jorge is left pondering the meaning behind these occurrences and the measures necessary to safeguard Morioh's residents.[5]

Restored Memories

Reimi's memories are restored

When the original universe's George Joestar ends up in Morioh in the 37th universe, he is brought to Arrow Cross House by the Passione members to investigate Diavolo's death. George inquires about the Cube House with Reimi, and Rohan chimes in with a theory about it being natural that Reimi lost her memories since Stand evolutions can be unexpected. Observing Reimi's depressed expression after what Rohan said, George questions Rohan on whether he's ever feared losing his own memories. Rohan confidently dismisses the idea, not being frightened by it since he's thrown his whole life into creating manga. However, his attitude earns him rebukes from Koji and the Nijimura twins for his insensitivity towards Reimi, prompting Rohan to acknowledge his oversight and apologize. George suggests that Reimi's memory loss might not stem from her evolution but rather from a traumatic event causing her to bear a Wound. His explanation triggers Reimi's memories and an Arrow violently ejects from her body. Her memories return and Arrow Cross House reverts into Cube House. Reimi smiles at George, revealing that her sole purpose was to search for him. Reimi decides to take George back home to his universe, but Fugo and Mista retort that George still hasn't solved the mystery. Reimi threatens that if Fugo and Mista don't listen to her, they would never escape, since they are inside her and Cube House has no doors or windows.[2]

Reimi cries as George is taken away

Giorno suddenly reveals that he turned Reimi's Arrow into a living being to prevent the flow of time from damaging it. He explains that there are actually three more Arrows inside her since the house has three arrows outside, causing Reimi to violently eject the remaining ones out of her as well. He uses one of the Arrows to evolve his Stand into Gold Experience Requiem, sentencing Enrico Pucci to an infinite death loop. Bucciarati and the others learn that Giorno betrayed them, since Diavolo was actually his alternate personality. He had given orders to Antonio Torres and was working for Dio Brando. Giorno transforms into Diavolo and punches George with King Crimson. As the others fail to stop Diavolo, Reimi cries as Diavolo jumps into Cube House with George to go see Dio.[2]

Rescuing George

With Reimi being Cube House again, the house lacks any doors or windows so everyone is trapped inside. Reimi eventually discovers that she can roll the house like a die. They learn that Kira is disguised as Chien Kunimido and travel to his house by rolling Cube House. By the time they arrive, Kira apparently killed George already. George's body is brought back to Cube House where Reimi cries and shakes him. Two hours later, she finds George's soul flying inside her. With the power of his Beyond, George had learned how to separate his soul like Dio did so he could get away from Kira's torture.

After the final battle against Dio Brando, Reimi meets with Penelope for the first time as Penelope decides to live in Nishi Akatsuki.[6]
