Lovers (ラバーズ（恋人）, Rabāzu) est le Stand de Steely Dan figurant dans Stardust Crusaders. Lovers est un minuscule Stand humanoïde l'allure d'insecte. Il peut s'infiltrer dans le cerveau d'une victime et manipuler les récepteurs de la douleurs afin que la victime ressente à une plus grande magnitude la douleur de Steely Dan.

L'Amoureux

Au contraire de la plupart des Stands, Lovers a une taille microscopique, et des ailes, ce qui lui permet de voler dans l'oreille d'une cible et d'infiltrer leur cerveau sans se faire remarquer. Il ressemble à un humanoïde robotique avec une tête insectoïde, et ayant des pinces à la place des mains.

Sa tête qui est plutôt massive est plutôt ronde, et a des gros yeux ronds insérés dans le crâne. Il a de petites tentacules sur la bouche, ressemblant à des rostres d'insectes.

Son design serait un mélange de mouche, puce et le robot du film de science-fiction Short Circuit.

Il représente la carte de l'Amoureux du tarot divinatoire, ce qui symbolise la formation d'un lien entre deux personnes.

Lovers est rouge avec des yeux bleus dans le manga couleur. Dans l'anime, il est brun avec les yeux rouges.

Personnalité

Bien qu'il obéisse sans conteste aux ordres de Steely Dan, Lovers possède également sa propre personnalité. Il a un tempérament sournois et se moque de son adversaire au combat. Bien qu'il reconnaisse sa faiblesse, il se considère également comme terrifiant car il maîtrise ses propres points forts et est convaincu qu'il peut battre à la fois Silver Chariot et Hierophant Green. Lorsqu'il est poussé dans un coin, il s'enfuit.

Pouvoirs

Steely Dan admet que Lovers est très faible, tellement faible qu'il ne peut même pas soulever un cheveu De plus, sa taille microscopique le rend très vulnérable. Cependant, il a la possibilité d'infiltrer le corps d'une victime et s'il se cache à l'intérieur du corps, il est très difficile de l'en déloger. Enfin, sa grande portée qui atteint plusieurs centaines de kilomètre rend impossible toute échappatoire contre son pouvoir.

Pain Synchronization

Pain and injuries are returned manifold to Lovers' current victim

Lovers' primary ability is to enter the brain of its victim, more precisely the brain stem, and manipulate their pain receptors. When Steely Dan feels any physical stimuli, be it the pain from a punch, or even the sensation of cracking his fingers, Lovers will go berserk inside the brain and return the pain several folds to its victim, causing them to be in agony. It can even cause phantom pain in absent limbs. It is used to take Joseph Joestar hostage.

Organic Waste Clones

Lovers can take brain cells and turn them into mash for various uses. First, it can disguise itself as another Stand using the mash to cover itself but can also create a myriad of dummies that aren't the real Stand but can still harm a Stand that has been shrunk to its size.

Spores Cultivation

Although not inherent to itself, Lovers uses DIO's spores to kill its victims. Thanks to its size, it can carry an individual spore inside someone's brain and then feed it with brain cells in order to make it grow and eventually destroy the brain like it did with Enya's.

Trivia

• The Lucky Land print of the associated card lacked an "s" in the "The Lovers" text on the bottom in manga prints. This was corrected in the anime.
• The events of the battle against Lovers seems to be based on the 1986 film Innerspace, which was based on the 1966 science fiction film, Fantastic Voyage.
• It's appearance is based off of Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.
• The stand shares the same English voice actor with another Stand: the Tower of Gray.
