One hot summer day, suffering from thirst, he defied the law and drank from the water supply, causing him to be sentenced to death by the government. By some strange coincidence, he was unable to be executed by hanging, so his method of execution was changed to the electric chair. As he was executed, Orobog cursed the people who abandoned him, along with the land they lived on. Afterward, as legend tells, all of the water in the region mysteriously dried up. Ages later, Rohan Kishibe used his legend as inspiration for the character of the same name. |

Inspired by the true story of a Japanese man in the Meiji era, Orobog is the descendant of a group of people with the ability to severely dehydrate and wither people, objects, and entire lands. He is described as having the appearance of a drowned corpse, with tattered clothes and long greenish-blue hair resembling algae that hides his face. The Gentleman faces him in Chapter 6 of the original manga, eventually defeating him with the aid of an electric chair. |

Orobog is cut from the work's live-action TV drama adaptation after the actor playing him is arrested on charges of drug possession. Yumeo's anger at being abandoned eventually causes him to manifest as an incarnation of Orobog, allowing him to exact revenge on the production and original author that abandoned both him and the character. When Rohan tricks Orobog into falling into the director's "electric chair," Yumeo's rage at Rohan for outwitting him temporarily separates his consciousness from his incarnation of Orobog, allowing Yumeo to survive the character's "execution." |

Short Stories
would show up there. Kanako stopped taking photos out of fear and complained about what she was seeing to a friend. Although she stopped taking photos, Spaghetti Man started getting closer to her. She would see the man everywhere in the corner of her eye.
Late at night, Kanako went to close the curtains of her room when she saw Spaghetti Man staring at her from the other side on the balcony. Kanako's roommate ran in after hearing Kanako scream and called an ambulance when Kanako started having intense convulsions of terror. Since there was no evidence of forced entry, the police dismissed her concerns and urged her to see a psychiatrist. A few days later, Kanako told a teacher she would be moving back in with her parents. On the drive home, she vanished, with only her suitcase left behind. Her family devotedly searched for her, but couldn't find a trace of her whereabouts.
By the time Rohan tried researching her disappearance, her roommate and friends from university had dispersed all over the country. In addition, her dorm had been razed as the lot was sold to a private company. Most people dismissed what happened to her because of mental health concerns being common in university students. However, Rohan eventually finds an old lady who witnessed what happened that day. She saw Kanako screaming obscenities before disappearing at an intersection near the dorm.
Around this time, Chan was fired from his job for posting delusional information online. He complained that he was seeing the man everywhere and that there were more than one, thinking it was government agents watching him and trying to oppress him. He posted a desperate plea for help online and then vanished as well, leaving behind twisted remains of the electronics in his apartment. Since then, people were afraid to talk about Spaghetti Man, but sightings continued to be reported.
Orobog is cut from the work's live-action TV drama adaptation after the actor playing him is arrested on charges of drug possession. Assistant director Yumeo Obara offers to play the role himself, even designing the character's costume, but is denied the opportunity. Yumeo's anger at being abandoned eventually causes him to manifest as an incarnation of Orobog, allowing him to exact revenge on the production and original author that abandoned both him and the character. When Rohan tricks Orobog into falling into the director's "electric chair," Yumeo's rage at Rohan for outwitting him temporarily separates his consciousness from his incarnation of Orobog, allowing Yumeo to survive the character's "execution."
Live Action
Live Action Actor: Mutsumi Sasaki
At some point, Maurice regrets making money from all the forgeries he was creating and tells his group that he wants to quit, but Tatsumi tries persuading him not to since they cannot operate without him. Maurice then comes across Nizaemon Yamamura's Black Painting. In his state of terror, he paints an imitation of the Black Painting, which he calls "Noire", and then dies. Noire is shipped to Japan, where Rohan outbids Watabe and wins it in the auction. Kawai manages to steal it from Rohan but when he peels off the oil paper covering the back, a swarm of black spiders covers his hand before he sees a car appear which runs over him.
It is implied that Maurice committed suicide as Tatsumi feels regret thinking Maurice died because of him. Tatsumi hallucinates the ghost of Maurice from the Black Painting, who strangles Tatsumi to death.
Afterward, Watabe and Kawai head to Rohan's house to steal the painting. Watabe stands outside to serve as a distraction, luring Rohan to pursue him. Meanwhile, his partner would go inside to retrieve Noire. Rohan uses Heaven's Door to incapacitate him. Watabe manages to escape after Kyoka screams, causing Rohan to go after Kawai instead. Kawai suddenly disappears after handling the painting, so Watabe tells Tatsumi on the phone that he's backing out since something is off about Rohan. Kawai was not at the arranged escape route and all Watabe saw was Rohan and Kyoka picking up the discarded painting. Believing the job wasn't legitimate, Watabe quickly ends the call after telling Tatsumi that there was nothing on the back of the painting.
Kawai and Watabe go to Rohan's house after the auction to steal the painting. While Watabe lured Rohan outside, Kawai went inside and shoved Kyoka to the ground, snatching the painting. As he runs away from Rohan, Kawai flips over Noire and peels off the oil paper covering the back. However, whatever he was looking for wasn't actually there. Anxiousness takes over him, as he and his partner just invaded a house and stole the painting for no reason. Kawai notices a black mass resembling tar on the corner of the frame. Suddenly, a swarm of tiny spiders covers his hand. A classic car then mysteriously appears behind him and chases Kawai, who abandons the painting and desperately runs away. By the time Rohan finds the abandoned painting, Kawai and the black mass had disappeared.
A while after his research, Jacques encounters the black painting. He is caught in its curse and screams. Emma is shocked to see Jacques acting afraid above her in the second-floor exhibition space. Jacques ignores Emma and Ryunosuke Tatsumi, constantly looking back as if he is terrified at something while begging for help, but nobody could see anything behind him. In his panicked state, Jacques jumps off the railing and lands on the floor below, where Emma and Tatsumi rush over to. Jacques manages to tell them about a spider and black hair. Jacques ends up surviving the incident.
Later, Marie finds out that Jacques heard the name Nizaemon from Gaucher Bigotte. She e-mails Emma to let her know.
